i was thinking the same thing. i have a feeling that Arthur's family may cover for Dexter/Kyle

I had this feeling that Jonah would have said something along the lines of
'He helped us.' Causing Quinn to doubt his suspicion and start thinking about what Dexter really does. Which causes Quinn to meet Lumen.

I liked how Dexter didn't tell Lumen everything and blamed Rita's death on his reason for killing people.

Well...Lumen probably made that assumption. But, her assumption is kinda right because ultimately Dexter isn't like Boyd, because of Harry's rules.

What exactly Boyd was into, though, could be damn interesting.

True. There are a lot of ways it could go. That's kind of why I'm so interested in it. Doakes was more of a straightforward white knight. He had a hell of a temper, granted, but he was very by-the-books and honest. There was never any way he could potentially be okay with Dexter murdering people, good, bad, or otherwise. Quinn, not so much.

I don't think that's a very accurate representation of Doakes. He stalked Dexter, broke into his house, withheld evidence, killed that guy under the bridge, and lied on police reports.

I get what you mean but I definitely don't think Doakes was a "white knight".

Oh, right. Well, it's been a while since I watched it, I guess I forgot all that. But the point stands that he was at least more morally righteous than Quinn, who we know is crooked. I'd have to watch it again, but I suspect he had decent reasons for doing everything he did...

I honestly thought that's where they're heading when the cop told Deb she almost caught that guy. But then Deb went to Quinn for a self-pity ****.

I'm interested to see where they will be going with the nanny thread...having her quit so early in the season (and then come back with no more chances) is interesting. The end result probably won't be pretty.

I bet Dex screws up again and she develops some crazy theory about his late-night doings that Dex goes along with to cover for his serial killing. So, in effect, she'll be this season's Rita.

I gotta say, so far i am really enjoying the direction this season. I was incredibly worried that with Rita out of the picture, the dynamic of the show would change dramatically and it wouldnt be as good anymore. But after 4 episodes i'm starting to think Rita's death could be one of the best things to happen to Dexter. If anything, i think Dexter is pushing ever closer to re-discovering his humanity.

I don't think we can dispute at this point that Dexter has his humanity. He's effectively a normal person with normal emotions who just also feels a need to kill bad people now and then.

Yeah, he has his humanity, no doubt. You can see bits and pieces of it throughout the series.

I could see Johnny Lee Miller (and upcoming guest star Peter Weller) both being part of a group of serial killers that Dexter helps Lumen to pick off, one by one. Maybe sleazy Internal Affairs guy is part of the group too.
