Dexter

I was trying to figure out why this season was such a huge, HUGE crapfest. Then I noticed that they brought a lot of people from 24 to do the show. Question answered.

Hell this season wasn't even really about Dexter. He wasn't even healed by the end of it. Lumen evolved more than him. I am half expecting a spinoff series with her to be announced.

This whole season was just pathetic. The saddest part is it had a lot of great ideas. It was just executed so, so very bad.

I am so freaking bummed by this.:csad:

What the hell do you want me to say?! Seriously this season was complete crap. Am I supposed to ignore that? & play along.

but dude, Quinn and Deb are like, sooooo cute! omfg and lik Lumen and Dex are perfect for each other. :hrt::hrt::hrt::heart::heart::heart::heart:

I liked it better than Season 3, at least.

Season 3 was awesome.

"You think this is funny?"

"Not at all. They said that stain would come OUT!!"

(Some language obviously in the clip below.)

Jimmy Smits played a great, messed-up character. Not as chilling or dangerous as Trinity, but maybe a bit more three dimensional and relatable.

Look, even bad Dexter is still okay. Season 5 wasn't bad. Jordan Chase and his entourage of rapists was pretty interesting, and Lumen had good chemistry with Dex. It's just the finale felt flaccid and uninteresting with no real sense of danger. Deb should have found out. Enough with making her and everyone else on the Miami PD seem like a bunch of idiots. And one more thing.... please have the season six premiere kick off with Batista and LaGuerta dying in a terrorist bombing or something. Jeez are their subplots annoying, irrelevant and cringe-inducing. Thank God for DVR.

love that dexter and miguel clip. Dexter was so in control back then. Jordan was an interesting villian but he wasn't as much of a match for dexter. He had no idea what dexter really was and underestimated him.

Season 3 is one of my favorite seasons.

I had no problem with the season 5 ending. it felt alot like the endings of 1, 2 and 3. Everything wrapped up nice and neat. Season 4 was the only cliff hanger finale they had, and they don't need one every year. (this isn't lost.)

The thing Im looking forward to is Quinn knows dexter is a killer now, so it will be interesting to see what he does with this info. Will they become allies? or continue to be enemies.

In control? Surely you jest, sir. :oldrazz:

That freak-out clip is another great moment from the unfairly maligned season 3. I honestly don't understand why some people have a problem with it.

By in control, I meant keeping his cool, he was quite cool during that confrontation. As the series has progressed he's become a lot more emotional, even that freak out scene was all in his head. But in season five he's had a much harder time to keep his cool, and I like the development.

I really liked Season 3, as I've liked all seasons of Dexter, but it remains my least favorite. I'd probably rank them like so:

1. S4
2. S1
3. S2
4. S5
5. S3

Not a bad season in the bunch though - this is one of the few consistently great shows out there, imo.

Yeah I understand what you're saying. Just having some fun. :yay:

Now that 5 is over, what is everyone's order? Mine would be 4,1,3,2,5.

EDIT: Ah, flickchick beat me to the punch by a minute. :yay:

no but it is just weird you crapped on this season a good 9 episode ago and said you were gonna stop watching and hear we are season finale lol

i actually liked this season more than the last one

like someone else said last season if you take away trinity the season was nothing

Mine would be

4, 1, 3, 5, 2

2 is definitely my least favorite season. I loved the BHB thing, and Lundy while dead, still remains one of my favorite characters, I just hated Lila so much that it brought everything else way down.

Lila was hot and I can definitely relate to dating a psychopath.

It was that whole bay-harbour butcher storyline that put me to sleep.

i liked the seasons for different reasons

i loved season 4 because it was so suspenseful with arthur but i think i was more emotionally connected this season so i love this one as well

I liked the BHB storyline, I thought it was great that the case they were on, was dexter himself. and Lundy was awesome. (one of the reasons I liked 4 so much, because he came back, even if it was a short time)

it was the drug addict storyline/Lila that sucked for me.

also project: if you take away trinity, yes the season would be nothing, but in that seasons defense the entire season was about trinity, the beginning scene had him, lundy returned for trinity, dexter following trinity. the whole season was trinity, you wouldn't have even had a season with out trinity.

For me:

1,4,2,5,3

While season 3 had some good moments I felt it was the weakest. We spent about roughly the same time on people's personal affairs that we usually do except it involved people we hadn't even seen before such as Detective Gianna (or whatever her name was) and Anton who was clearly not for Deb.

I liked Miguel but he wasn't a very good threat, I never felt for a minute he could take Dexter and he ended up not even making it to the final episode. I was much more creeped out by Chase. Miguel despite a few good scenes leading up to his death ended up coming off as a buffoon when Dexter nabbed him at LaGuerta's.

The Skinner was a non-entity and ultimately felt a bit too normal.

I liked season 5 a great deal, I liked the Lumen character and I think we probably had the best story structure since season 1. The end was predictable but sometimes predictable is good if it makes sense and I think everything did and I was emotionally satisfied with everything that happened.

Just watched it, and man , what a huge let down. It's like the writers took the lazy way out on this one. This is probably the worst finale of all the seasons....

Hey, Anton was cool. Maybe not as cool as Lundy, but a damn sight cooler than Quinn. I miss him.

Miguel was an awesome every-day villain. He had some very human flaws, a man who may have started out noble, but was obviously messed up and had let his bitterness, childhood issues and skewed view of the justice system warp him into an even greater monster than Dexter. I loved that he threatened Dexter from WITHIN the system too. "I have City friggin' Hall!" Great line. And he got taken down in the second-last episode.

The Skinner was a non-entity and ultimately felt a bit too normal.

I liked that the Skinner had no real connection to Dexter or any real interaction with him (unlike say, Jordan Chase, Trinity, Lila, Ice-truck killer, etc). He was just a serial killer that needed to be taken down.

I don't think that I said I was stopping. I said I was turning off my Showtime. I downloaded the remaining episodes.

Unless there is a huge change in writing staff. I don't think I will even be downloading. Who knows though. I have a curious George/sadistic personality. So...

They're all deserved, but Julia Stiles' nod is especially so. What is it with guest-stars (Smits, Lithgow, Stiles) coming on for one season and kicking so much ass? The casting-director for this series is a genius.

I actually used to dislike Stiles, until I saw her in this show. Not only has her acting vastly improved, but she looks a lot better now than she did when she was in her late teens and early 20's. I used to think she was... well... not ugly, but a bit of a plain Jane. Not anymore.

They deserve it. It was an awesome season despite my misgivings about the finale.

The Lumen ending i can live with, because despite how good they were together, the 'riding off into the sunset with the girl of his dreams' wouldn't have worked. I'm more peeved about The Deb vigilante/and Quinn getting off so easily. The ending basically wiped the slate clean, with the exception of the kids coming back (even if it's just for the summer) Dexter is basically back to square one; which may be a good thing...

Ghostvirus, what did u hate soo much about the season? I could understand being disappointed by the finale but the season as a whole was incredibly strong imo. It was all about Dexter redeeming himself and realizing that maybe he doesnt have to be alone. The themes this season have been great, and there was a lot of suspense.
