They also used a lot of previous scenes in this trailer.

Eh? Looked like all new footage to me?

I'm confused by what you mean.

I thought it looked really good, I cannot wait for this season even more now!

Unless they decided to do it again. Dexter is sticking his hand into bloody rain, & Deb at one point looks a lot like first season Deb in uniform.

These all could be new shots redone. They look awfully familiar though.

The shot of Dexter's hand, i think, is old footage. But the scene with Deb in uniform is new from what I can tell. Possibly in uniform for a commendation or something.

Maybe she finally takes over Laguerta's job. It is one of those things that has been a long time coming.

The shot of Deb is in her uniform shaking LaGuerta's hand behind a podium. She is receiving a commendation.

It definitely seems like Hanks and Olmos are committing religious-based, cult-like murders and that religion will be a central theme of this season. Interesting.

Looks alright. Very well edited and put together, but I'm still a little cautious and finding it hard to get excited after last season. Not sure how much I dig the concept of this season if it really is going the religious route but with the talent involved, I'm not ready to write it off just yet.

I have faith that this will be a good season.

What's wrong with the upcoming season? Dexter fights a religious fanatic. The show isn't saying all religious people are fanatics. Nor is there any indication Dexter finds God.

People should stop moaning about a thirty second trailer and wait until the actual episodes are out before badmouthing it.

Trailer looks awesome. All new footage with an awesome intro. Love the religion theme.

So am I the only one here that gets the feeling we are going to get a Lithgow worthy performance from EJO this year????

Course Im in the minority here cuz I thought last season was great. Coulda had a lil more Johnny Lee Miller though

EJO is going to make the Trinity Killer look like Mr. Rogers.

Amen to that, I've seriously watched the trailer at least 10 times now and I am super excited for this. October 2nd can't come soon enough

LOL, yeah okay lets all calm down. I know he was in your favorite little TV show BSG. Doesn't make him the best thing since sliced bread.

Come on back to reality town. I am sure he will be great though.

"I've got to find a way to keeeeel all these keeeeeds!"

I started this discussion on IMDb about a theory I have regarding Dexter's childhood. The original post is kind of long, but pretty interesting if you questioned some of the details of Dexter's youth.

ABRIDGED VERSION:
Did Harry think that Dex was his biological child at one point? Also, did Dexter's biological father ever try to get custody of him and Brian? What about that scene/flashback in the car? And why the hell did Harry ignore Brian in the shipping container?

LONGER VERSION (Super Spoilers!!!):
I was recently reading some of the dexter wiki pages and was reminded of the episode from season 1 where Dexter and Brian go clean out Dexter's father's house after his death. While in the morgue with his biological father's body, Dexter has a flashback of being in a car with a man, whom we presume to be his father due to the tattoo, sitting in the passenger's seat and listening to music. Here's the thing, Dexter is older than 3 in that flashback. As a matter of fact, there is a complete lack of information of Dexter's life between the time he was found in the shipping container and his earliest flashbacks, where he is about 10-12 years old.

Personally, I have always believed that there was something to Harry's interest in Dexter that went deeper than just his reaction to the crime scene. First, Harry had a relationship with Dexter's mother and second, despite the gruesomeness of the crime scene he leaves Brian in the shipping container. (Yes, he sends cops in after him, but he could have held the kids hand and walked him out with Dexter. There was no need to leave him.) Plus, I always thought that Harry was just a tad too accepting of the whole, my 'adoptive son is a killer'-thing. AND, he always seemed to want to keep Dexter's adoption a secret, like he didn't want anyone to know that Dex wasn't biologically his. (think back to the same episode where Dexter needs blood for surgery and Harry seems desperate to keep the doctors from knowing that neither he or his wife are a match) All this to say, I think Harry thought, at least for some time, that Dexter was his biological child. It is the only way I could understand Harry leaving Brian to run off with Dexter, and then putting so much effort into trying to keep Dexter's being adopted hush hush.

Now, adoptions can take a little time, granted, but I have never heard of a 7 year adoption process. Particularly when that child is a ward of the state and the adopter is a well-respected cop. So why is Dexter's birth certificate not changed until he is about 10? What the hell took so long?

So to connect everything, I personally believe there was a time between his mother's death and Dexter's full adoption that some other people tried to get custody of Dex, and possibly of Brian as well. My guess is, during that time, Dexter's father tried to get custody of Dexter and was stopped by Harry who had already laid an emotional claim on him. Depending on how Harry stopped him, it would have inhibited his ability to get Brian as well, assuming Brian and Dexter had the same father.

So, what do you think? This has been bugging me for some time now and I had to get it out.

(and yes, I spend way too much time thinking about this show) :)

The IMDb thread turned into an argument between two responders, I am hoping to get a little more constructive feedback here.

Also, here is another promo for season 6:[YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcQT5kEb2ws&feature=relmfu[/YT]

Just saw the trailer for the show. I'm so psyched for this season.

This will be a very interesting season :D
