Arrow Dinah Laurel Lance/Katie Cassidy Thread - Part 2

How is it possible that Katie's one short appearance in "The Flash" can make her look more attractive (not that she already wasn't) than she's ever been when playing Laurel than during her time spent on "Arrow"?

Because on the Flash you're allowed to be happy at least for a little awhile.

Given on how there's a fair amount of us that want to see Laurel trade up her Police Baton for something new, are there any particular weapons that you guys would want to see her utilize instead? A metallic staff (which can break into two sticks) like her sister? Or something else?

Also, do you guys think that Laurel is ready for another romance in her life for Season 4? Or would you guys prefer for her to still stay relatively single at the moment?

Laurel need to have own weapon separate from Sara to use. I do think she will use a weapon but in the comic she is a hand to hand combat and that it. Of course with the Canary cry

I'm with primal slayer on this. I rather her be the best martial artist around who knows how use weapon's cause of it . But can fight with out them I rather she be versatile .

That'll separate her from sara just fine.

Single for sure.

I can't tell if it's just sad or strange that the women (well the women that aren't involved with Oliver at least) on this show are better written whenever they're single.lol

Im pretty sure even if she got a love interest, it would just play out in the background like her training has.

No love interest next season. Maybe season 5. But seeing how they were going to immediately throw her with Ted I wouldnt be surprised if she got a relationship. I want Laurel and Oliver's relationship to be fixed throughout season 4 then season 5 have it happen. Not angst BS. Have it be fun and fit with their vigilante lifestyle.

Knowing these stupid ass writers. If Oliver & Felicity becomes official next season / end of this season. After Oliver returns. Laurel is gonna be jealous of Felicity & Laurel & anyone she ends up with for the season. Will just become Felicity & Ray 2.0

This, please. Even if it is mostly in the background [a s4 love interest for Laurel], the writers will still find a way to angst the hell out of it and have it intrude on Team business.

I wish I could tell you and anyone else that this wouldn't happen, but we all know that would be a lie, and a horrible one at that. You just know that if it is Felicity's love that brings Oliver back and they get together 'officially', that tptb will find a way to portray Laurel as jealous and either create an awkward Team dynamic or she'll "retaliate" by going & hooking up with someone Oliver doesn't like, thus creating this big love-triangle-plus-however-many-others-are-dragged-into-it. This is The CW we're dealing with here, after all.

I'm not dead set against Laurel getting in a relationship next season if it is written properly. She's been single for 2 full seasons now. But nothing is going to get any better if you wait 1season/2seasons/3seasons, it will always depend on how they go about it.

Lol I didnt even realize, the writers gave her so much drama it felt like she was in a relationship.

Anyways, I understand that sometimes things should be kept between Oliver, Diggle, and Felicity. But when Thea is involved, that’s something Laurel should be a part of

Remember when Thea got drunk at the fundraiser Tommy threw for Laurel and CNRI, and all Laurel was worried about was Thea getting home safe? Where were you Oliver/Diggle/Felicity?
Remember when Thea got busted for driving under the influence, and it wasn’t Oliver/Diggle/Felicity that put their name on the line to make sure that Thea didn’t go to prison. It was Laurel who offered to take her under her wing and keep from going behind bars.
It works both ways two. Remember when Laurel got drunk and incidentally insulted Thea, in return all Thea did was want to make sure that Laurel was okay.
Remember when Laurel was grieving over Sara’s grave and Thea was there to comfort her.
Remember when no one told Laurel the truth about Thea killing Sara…except for Thea right when she found out.
Remember when Laurel insisted that none of Sara’s murder was Thea’s fault.
Remember when Thea was pretty much on a suicide mission and tried to give an assassin reason to kill her, and Laurel threw herself in the way, despite being severely outmatched.
Remember when OLIVER of all people said that Laurel loved Thea like a sister.
How many scenes or times have Diggle and Felicity shown anything like this towards Thea and not just because Oliver told them to do so.

People who were in Nanda Parbat aka the mission to bring Thea back to life:

Oliver - Thea’s older brother, despite the things he’s done he truly does care for and love Thea.
Malcolm - Thea’s biological father who drugged her and used her as a murder weapon to clear his blood debt
Diggle - Oliver’s current best friend and bodyguard who has had minimal interaction with Thea up to this point.
Felicity - Oliver’s love interest who has had minimal interaction with Thea up to this point.
People who were not in Nanda Parbat because they weren’t even told of these events, at least that’s the assumption we have to make because apparently they weren’t important enough to be in these scenes that are “supposed to be about Thea”:

Laurel - Lifelong/close family friend who loves Thea like a little sister and has also shown on multiple occasions that Thea is very important to her, even risking her life for her.
Roy - The love of Thea’s life. The man, who left town because “Roy Harper is dead”, would have hightailed his ass back to Starling City and Nanda Parbat if Thea’s life was on the line.
Yeah those two shouldn’t have been there at all.

Wow that turned into a rant. Sorry!

Great post!

That is basically it. It is all about how the relationship is written. I personally liked her relationship with Tommy and I thought it was a strong point of the show.

Indeed it was a good post, but that episode was such a let down that the Laurel not there is just one more....

Regarding Laurel's love interest, I don't know, part of me wants her to be single just to avoid all the drama. I mean, in season one they put all the heavy drama on Laurel and it hurt her character, let's not comment season two. Now in season 3 she's being good to watch while Felicity got the love drama and look how that turned out. If they were able to do that to Felicity, I can't even imagine how bad they could make trying to have Laurel with Oliver again. To me she could stay single just maybe in some party scene with see her with a plus one, that it's not on the next episode with a line like "yeah, it didn't work out with my night schedule" or something just to hint that she's in a good place to have dates but focusing on her being a good Black Canary and good at her day job.

Season 4 Wishlist

Weapon: Hand to hand, kali sticks, bo staff. Hand to hand and Canary Cry being her 'thing'.

Look: Lose the wig and the black lipstick. Katie be too hot for dat.

Love interest: None. Strong friendship with Oliver. Some dating of random schlubs here and there. Hints towards something more with Oliver (but for the love of all that is holy, please no angst or drama).

Personality: Flirtatious and sarcastic/wise-cracking. Serious when the plot calls for it. Tough as nails in a life-death situation.

That's all I got for now.

I couldn't agree more with this if I tried.

Def that. She looks so underwhelming as BC.They really need to change her look up next season.

I was kinda hoping we would see some sound wave effects for the canary cry...

I just hope it sounds good. I hated the sound effect they used on Smallville. That wasn't a Canary Cry, that was an effin roar.

Yeah, it was like night and day how much more charming Laurel was in her five-minute appearance on The Flash. I guess it helps when you're working with better writers and your direction for a scene isn't just "walk into a room and berate someone."
