new trainer in episode 16

So I was promised we'd know who Laurel's trainer would be in 3x13... did I somehow miss the point? Who is it?

I think that was a typo on my part. 3x16. Sorry.

Even though Cassidy said otherwise and it's canon, I really wish that she and Oliver are not the endgame anumore. Their relationship is just too damaged at this point. I like this version of her who is not having any of Oliver's sh-t. Maybe the writers will change their tune if they find someone who has better chemistry with her.

And oh... she looks so good when she doesn't have her jacket on. Those arms! It's not practical but I kinda wish now that her costume is just that sleeveless top underneath her jacket.

It was damaged but now it's fixed. They're both stronger people, and if it happens now it won't be a continuation of their pre-island relationship but a new, stronger one with a better basis than childhood dating.

I'm not against Felicity but the signs are pointing in one direction right now.

I feel like the biggest problem on this show is that when anyone gets romantically paired with Oliver, they're immediately cursed by the writers to be portrayed in a way that would turns fans (the non-shipper ones) against them due to the angst-like scenes that are written as a result.

Look at Laurel; now that she's been temporarily freed from her romantic attachments to Oliver, she's allowed to be herself and grow as a individual character. Heck, I've really enjoyed the scenes that she's had with Felicity and Diggs.

Last season, prior to being romantically hooked with Oliver again, Sara was definitely well written on the series. It's only when she hooked up with Oliver again (however brief) that the writing for her character slowly soured.

And I don't need to state on what's been going on with Felicity's character at times.

I realized my frustration with Laurel last week. I like Cassidy just fine. And while I liked Sara as Canary better, I can accept the Laurel Canary. My problem is with her as the D.A. She is not very good at playing "tough." I liked her much better when she was the public service lawyer. She is an infinitely better "crusader" than she is at playing the "tough girl." Her Canary is also better as a "crusader" than as the "tough" Canary. Felicity's speech nailed that for me and basically sums up why Laurel bugs me now as opposed to how she was in season 1.

BLACK CANARY AND ZATANNA: BLOODSPELL TP

Written by Paul Dini, art and cover by Joe Quinones.

A year ago, Black Canary infiltrated a gang of female criminals set to pull a dangerous heist at a Las Vegas casino. Its leader was skilled in hand-to-hand combat and had more than a passing interest in black magic. Rather than be captured by Canary or the law, she went to her death, vowing to get revenge on Canary! Now, one year later, death stalks those gang members, and Canary must turn to her friend Zatanna to help investigate. This title also includes a special sketchbook section.

144 pages, $14.99, in stores on June 17.

It's the writing and the acting, I think. You can make a drinking out of the amount of times Laurel says, "I'm the Assistant District Attorney!" every time she interviews a suspect.

The thing is, I liked Cassidy in season one. It's when she became the prosecutor that she really started to suck. She thinks that standing with crossed arms and one foot in front of the other displays authority it really ony displays an annoying personality. Also, she sucks as a prosecutor. She actually threatened Brick's toady by tampering with evidence. She is corrupt and that makes me loathe her as a hypocrite. I really wish they'd have kept her as the public service attorney. They don't know how to write her as a prosecutor and she doesn't know how to act as one either.

I can chalk the evidence tampering up to her just bluffing, but everything else she did before that, like at least 2 occasions of black mailing, is what really annoyed me. I still think with everything the writers thought up, and the way the character is acted, she still doesn't really deserve to be Black Canary. I would have been fine with Laurel eventually suiting up as the Canary, because she realizes being in the Courtroom isn't enough to help people.

She didn't need her personal "Island" in form of boozing and taking drugs, generally being a complete b**ch in Season 2, and then sacrificing Sara to justify her suiting up. Yes, no one becomes a hero over night, but the whole starting out as a Hero could have been her Island, her trials to overcome. I wonder if we can actually ever get a hero on the show, who hasn't been completely miserable and hasn't suffered any kind of personal loss.

I think she's doing a pretty good job as the character. I was never happy that they started out with Sarah, and I think that's partially why people don't like Laurel.

It's really got to do with how she was written the majority of times, or acts when she has to be authoritative. She just hasn't really been that great of a character for most of the show's run. Now in Season 3 she is starting to improve, but I still can't forget the first two seasons.

She was more average and uninteresting in S1 as opposed to majority of S2.

Agree. She just can't pull off authoritative.

Even if she was uninteresting in season 1, that's better than unlike able like she was last year and a good portion of this year.

Seeing Laurel with Tommy in the flashbacks was great, her and Ollie have no chemistry but her and Tommy had it in spades, shame he's dead. :csad:

Yeah. I miss Tommy. He and Laurel were so good together.

Yeah, Tommy was a great character. They killed him off too soon.

They really need to spend some money on better looking wigs on this show. That China White wig is the fakest looking thing I've ever seen and the ones Laurel and flashback Ollie are sporting aren't much better. Laurel's at least is a disguise so it's supposed to look like a wig, but man, those other ones are terrible.

Remember China Whites wig back in S1? At least her wig now is an upgrade.
