Days of Future Past "Director's Cut": The Official Matthew Vaughn Thread

It's basically teenage problems. We saw a bit of it in the trilogy with Rogue and Bobby in X1 and 2 as they couldn't get busy, and then again in X3 with the Rogue/Iceman/Kitty love triangle.

If all the X-Men are teens in First Class then we may get a bit more teen romance issues etc. It won't be the focus of the film though (like Twilight), and I think the prejudice against mutant will be more of an issue.
You can stil h ave angst and action in the same movie if the script is written well enough. Angst doesn't bother me in the least. It's realistic at least.

this is the reality. so lets hold our hands. for Thor they will have enough time to finish the movie. this movie doesnt even have cast leaks.

game over.

That's the way it should be. Filming done, 8-12 months of post.

Thor has a full year in post-production, which is probably what it needs. X-Men: First Class doesn't need that. X-Men 2 only had 6 months of post-production, and First Class will probably have the same.

Hell, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 will only have around 7 months. Quit creating drama.

Ok, so chase doesn't want to see this movie because apparently Vaughn and Singer are going to make it all about "teen angst", whatever that means. And that's obviously because the X-Men will be teenagers. Teenagers = Angst. Duh.

But, chase does want to see an X-Men reboot that is more faithful to the series. You know, the original 5 discovering their powers and learning to control them... as teenagers.

Please show me the post where I said I didn't want to see this movie.

You then ask me where I get teen angst from and then you continue to post about how the original comics were all about teenage issues. I am talking about what I DON'T want to see. I don't want this movie to be about love triangles and petty high school issues.

I never once said that they are going that route. I said I hope they don't. I have the same fears with the Spider-Man reboot.

So please take the time to read before you get all huffed over defending teenage social issues in movies.

I miss the days of debating with posters who had well articulated view points and clear arguments that were solid.

FaT_tONle and chaseter leave so much to be desired. :csad:

Yeah you bring so much to the table:dry: Look at all your posts in this thread...so much insight:o

You're twisting your own words to fit your current argument.

Yes JP, Tonie and I are such terrible posters but you just continue to argue and bash us in your posts. You are such a great poster JP. This forum really needs you.

It seems I cannot answer your question but you cannot find a post of me saying I am not seeing this movie no matter what.

Aw, thanks. Glad you finally understand.

Good, now we can move on to these deep discussions you have been having somewhere.

Whether teenagers or adults, I really find love triangles tiresome. Even the legit ones from the comics like Cyke & Wolverine with Jean but certainly moreso with new ones that are made up for the sake of it. Bores me to death.

And far less incessant whining. :cwink:

Chase, this happens with every X-Men movie. You get all wound up on things that haven't happened yet and can't believe that the rest of us aren't running around in hysterics with you.

You know we love ya Chase, but it's definitely becoming a pattern.

As far as Tonie, I should just put up the poll now so he can just give the movie a "1" and be done with it already. :funny:

On a lighter note, Vaughn has a new daughter:

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer and her husband, British film director Matthew Vaughn, have announced the birth of their third child.

The baby girl - who was born at London's Portland Hospital on Friday - is the couple's second daughter.
The German model and Vaughn already have a son Caspar, seven, and a daughter Clementine, five.

A statement from the couple did not reveal their daughter's name but said "both mother and baby were doing well".

It said: "Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn are proud to announce the birth of their baby daughter who was born on Friday May 14 in the early afternoon."

Schiffer and Vaughn first met at a dinner party in Los Angeles.

The supermodel had been in a relationship with the director of action film Kick-Ass and producer of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels for 16 months when they tied the knot near their family home in Suffolk on 25 May 2002.

Forbes magazine once put her net worth at about $55m (£38m).

I guess that puts to rest any talk of Vaughn doing First Class for the $$$ :D

well is'nt Vaughn rich lol he is the only guy to my recollection who can make a super hero film with his own money

Uh... we know what happened. Wolverine. Here's to shoe horning Deadpool, Cyke, and Gambit into the movie to get fanboys in the seats. So glad we didn't have to pay to watch a DVD quality version.

Oh btw, no one would be seething right now, outside of pointing out Fox's history and Singer not directing, had this film been given a reasonable time table. Don't know why that's so hard to comprehend.

dirty tactics from Fox. they are just rushing out crap just so marvel won't get THEIR properties back. this film will bomb and i hope it does. disney/marvel should've bribed vaughn to stay away. promise him a future marvel project. a big one. at least it looks like daredevil and FF sequels aren't being pursued fast enough at Fox...they should back in the fold at marvel soon enough.

Maybe they will ditch DD, but I think FF will be next on the docket hence the reason why they are moving so fast with X-Men.

To be fair, after the X3 debacle, which was a total sham and slap in the face to the fanboys IMO, I pretty much expect this from Fox. The only thing keeping interested is the involvement of Singer and Vaughn.

well, I'm just happy to bet getting another X-Men movie and the possibilities for new characters, story, and action

my only worry is this turning into the Xavier & Magneto story featuring the X-Men...I want characters like Cyclops, Storm, & Beast to have a story, so we can know why Storm was afraid in X1 and why she was angry in X2 and what made Beast leave and go into politics...they touched a little on Jean's origin in X3, so I'm wondering if Singer/Vaughn going to elude to that

I'm being very optimistic about this film and not going to bash it until I see the final product...

I don't know why it's so hard to comprehend that people are well aware of the history of Fox without you reminding them in every. single. post.

Honestly, for someone who's most likely going to spend the next 13 months finding reasons not to see the movie (while, you know...keeping it listed in your sig), you do seem to spend a lot time here complaining about it.

Praising and whining go hand in hand. Someone who thinks all of these movies are grade A pieces of cinema are just as crazy as the person who hates every X-Men movie. This has happened once, with Wolverine. Not every X-Men movie. I wasn't here for X1 or X2 and I was loving up every second of X3 on here before I saw the movie. If you go back and read, I was defending Wolverine when they first started. Then more and more information came out and it pointed out to being terrible. So I have been disappointed with two X-Men movies in a row. I will give this one a chance like I did X3 and Wolverine, but if more terrible news starts coming out, then it will probably suck. I am tired of getting my hopes up only to be let down.

They want to go with teen X-Men, that is fine, it will be cool to see the school begin. However, I am afraid that they will go the route of recent teen dramas and fill the movie with useless crap. That is my biggest concern, which I have stated and which I believe is within my rights to state on here. I can say what I don't want to happen. I am also worried about them having to deal with continuity and causing the script to be convoluted and filled with conveniences to connect all the dots these movie have set up.

If you count me being pessimistic about 2 movies now, out of 5, being a pattern, then sure. So if you think it is wrong for me to say what I hope they don't do and you think it is okay for posters like JP to bait people then by all means.

Eh, I don't really see anyone "praising" this film. How can they?

And for the record, I was one of the top posters during the X3 days. Followed every aspect of that movie hoping it would be good. And, yes, it failed. That's why when Wolverine came along, being that I simply wasn't a fan of that chatacter, I didn't even step foot in the Wolverine forum.

It's easy to follow a movie, but I think its even easier to ignore a movie when you're not looking forward to it. :/
