Disney in talks to buy Fox: X-Men Homecoming? - Part 1

When we're GotG, Avengers, Spiderman MCU cartoons announced?
Avengers: EMH was released in 2010 only a few months after the deal to buy Marvel. AA replaced it ~4 years later.

GOTG came out as an animated show ~ a year after the movie. It was greenlit for development 4 months after the film released.

Spider-Man had a couple different shows going at different intervals before and after the deal.

Ok yeah AA & GotG are the best examples I think it'll follow that pattern

We won't know until an announcement. Disney has lots of options and gleeful investors waiting in the wings that are happy to accommodate them.

Even if Fox get a large chunk, I would not expect them to hang onto all of it. Not if the stock price keeps going up. They'll cash out some % of it at some point. Especially if they are looking to reinvest with Fox elsewhere at some point.

I agree with that, long term is a no brainer. Fox may want to go private like it was said, or buy CNN like the board will have to allow for more stock buyback though.

If Fox is adamant about an all stock deal, then Disney has limited options, I would think.

GOTG is probably the better example. The good part is that the turn around isn't too bad. Which is why I think it is possible that they could speak to looking into a new series to keep the hypetrain running post-deal.

Disney is going to be all over the place afterward. Between films, TV shows, and probably something we haven't brought up a whole lot: merchandise. We could be facing a blitz of product for IP's that have been starved after Perlmutter forced them to be hidden away.

Marvel, in general, is "underpushed" by Disney on the merchandise front. They should be getting Star Wars like push in merchandising. Plus they will be pushing Avatar hard as that could be another HP sized franchise.

Thank you for everything Fox.

Bye bye Fassbender as Magneto :csad:

So Feige must have been made aware of this a while ago right? Or at least that this would be a possibility?

He's gotta have a contingency plan for it, right??

Maybe Galactus is already on the horizon...

Who knows. I read a report that this deal have been held closely to high ranking executives of Fox and Disney, that even divisional heads are unsure about how everything will align.

I know people want the Fantastic Four and X-Men immediately in the MCU, but this stuff takes time. Especially because of the amount of money and divisions that are involved. Remember, the Time Warner and AT&T deal was announced last year, thought they were going to finalize by the end of this year, but the Feds are not approving so they are heading to court next year.

I wouldn't expect us to see Infinity War to be impacted UNTIL everything is finalized.

Something I’m worried about with Magneto is his origin.
The further we get in time away from the holocaust, the harder it will be to keep I as part of his origin and have a movie set in current day.

Correct. Which is why I want to know dates, lol!

True, but within the MCU itself, his age can always be explained by some kind of experimental drug Hydra used during the war.

That’s true.
I’ll take basically any explanation as long as they keep that as part of his origin honestly.
A flimsy explanation is better than removing that completely.

they dont have to directly reference the Holocaust and with flashbacks like the Fox films did. They can be vague with his origin and not have it feel off

Agreed. It is vital to his character and needs maintained. Fortunately, Marvel doesn't shy away from super science, so I also will take any explanation. But, I bet it will have something to do with Hydra if they offer an explanation, or they just may try and ignore his age and just hope you don't think about it, lol.

Magneto should be retired from at least a trilogy of X-Men. Same for Mystique.

Enough flip flopping is enough.

Maybe they can move it up like they did with Iron Man and have him be a Vietnam or Gulf War survivor instead. :o

The easiest thing would be for him and the X-Men to come from an alternate earth where Nazi concentration camps went on much longer than just WWII.

I don’t know.
It’s a HUGE part of his character.
His reasons for his actions are what makes him Magneto.

Fox had a good run. They reinvigorated the superhero movie craze and gave us some great films.

I will look back fondly on this 17 year period. But now it’s time to see what mahvel baby can do!
