Disney in talks to buy Fox: X-Men Homecoming? - Part 3

Magneto is an antihero in the comics so Fox got him right

Yes really. There have been multiple versions of X-factor. The O5 have never worked for the government. Youre combining two concepts of X-factor, the original and the 90s reboot with Havok's group. The modern incarnation, which Im sure he's referring to is very different, enough that it can function as its own thing without feeling redundant with the X-men

No, just 2, maybe 3 franchises. All the rest are spinoffs and characters that fall under the X-men and FF (and Alpha Flight)

How is that different from characters who fall under the Avengers? There are too many X-Men to not have multiple teams. There is no current X-Factor film series so greenlighting one is an easy sell. If we get a reboot, then we get Havok and Mystique in part 1 with no explanation needed. If universes merge, then they can return due to reality being messed with. X-Factor is the easiest decision ever since it involves multiple characters who wouldn't be used in the main X-Men films.

I have no idea what in my post you are responding too

There's a lot of speculation in that article, but little of actual substance.

The only interesting thing I saw in there was that Fassbender and Lawrence apparently signed lucrative one-off deals for the Dark Phoenix movie. So they don't have options to come back after that film and they might be too expensive anyway.

Also heavily slanted.

That article singles out Disney as a "safe player." Yes, like Guardians of the Galaxy was seen as a "safe" choice in 2012. Please.

Everyone wants to pat 20th Century Fox on the back these days because of Deadpool and Logan. And don't get me wrong, great films. But that happened after a lot of trial and error and they spent almost half a decade refusing to make Deadpool.

Just sharing. Don't kill the messenger

Well, are you SURE?? There is at least one hypothesis out there that would indicate that the Disney/Fox merger wouldn't allow for such an egregious flaunting of common sense.

So, I'll ask again; "Do you have any examples?":o

I do realize examples of common sense can be hard to find these days. :p

How dare you quote such an article?!?!? In the future, I strongly suggest you take the word of your betters and speak up only when spoken to.

My great great great great great grandfather once told me.....well, he told me something important, but I can't remember what it was because he said it a long time ago, but the bottom line is that

Ignore ance is bliss.

FF, X-Men, and a whole lot of cool villains are in the hands (if needed) of some talented people who know how to bring comic book characters to life and you'll just have to live with it. :cwink:

Finally!

''... We’re also looking forward to expanding the Marvel cinematic universe to include X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool and reuniting all of the Star Wars movies ever made under one roof, which opens new opportunities for that franchise.''

Also John Ottman(Bryan Singer's editor/composer) statement on Kevin Feige's X-Men:
"Nobody is more passionate about these characters," notes longtime X-Men composer and editor John Ottman, who got to know Feige on 2003's X2: X-Men United. "Everything he touches turns to gold, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Marvel’s mutants.”

I don't care about the wailing and gnashing of teeth with regards to binning the original X-Men.
The only X-Men movie I've truly enjoyed was X-Men: FC.
I think Marvel can COMFORTABLY improve the X-Men franchise.
I absolutely HATED that all the movies revolved around Wolverine. Just call those movies, 'Wolverine and his Amazing Friends' and be done with it.

And I don't think for a second that the MCU is being "re-booted" any time soon. They were launching a number of new character films before the Fox acquistion.

define 'soon' Is 2020/2021 soon?

There's no way that MCU will be rebooted; they just spent 10 years building up to IW, and although they have acquired X-Men and FF, they are not going to throw away everything they have created and start again. Someday MCU will be reset, though, and it will have a new beginning with both X-Men & FF integrated with Avengers, but it probably won't be done in our lifetime.

Yeah if you reboot and get a bad reaction for the first few new films then suddenly all that momentum will stall.

Feige has never said the MCU would be rebooting after A4. I believe he said the slate and the way the universe they’ve built would go forward would be different. I think their moving away from having every film moving towards an event. Like they did with the phases up till now.

Correct

They never said the MCU would be rebooted. They said they won't be doing phases that culminate like they were and the new MCU would be different post Avengers 4. Not that it was going to be something new outright.

Besides, they have all these new franchises that are just getting their 1st movie. Why would you reboot and undercut them?

I believe it was described that Avengers 4 will end the first "arc" MCU. Having F4 and X-men just means they can play a major role in the next arc.

You know when Marvel finally gets the X-Men back I think it would be a good idea not have some Nuhumans in Xavier's Mansion maybe not on the core X-Men team but just as students. I mean your in the MCU now and it's not like mutants are the only ones with uncontrollable powers, face hatred, and could use some training to master their powers.

Like Dante/Inferno maybe Ms.Marvel, any New Nuhuman I'd like them to diversify not with the core X-Men teams any established mutants should stay mutants but for new characters I don't see why not it doesn't even have to be stated that their genes are Inhuman they can just be Inhuman and not have attention drawn to it.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they just made Kamala Khan a mutant rather than a member of a race that's never even appeared in the movies.

I hope to be around for it. :gngl:
But it would be interesting to see how that would fare and be treated by our grandsons.

Maybe that's the straw that will break the camel's back and TV MCU will be retconned.

I'd prefer if she stayed an Inhuman. That origin actually helps expands the Marvel Universe.

If ever done right, I'd like to see a setup of Mutants vs. Inhumans. Just not the awful take from recent comics.
