Doubtful. There are more than enough major players who can pool influence via their shares to keep them in line. There a lot of major investors who do not want to see the company get screwed up.

The most the Murdoch's will ever get is a position in the company or a board seat. i don't think the position of CEO is going to ever to be open to any of them, but maybe as a high ranking lieutenant.

And the truth about a “problem” is something can be around for awhile, but when the right people decide the make a big deal of a “problem” it can explode.

You can have it where in a very short time the population can go from “neutral to uneasy relationship” with each other to where certain people start fanning the flame to increase the fear and distrust of another in its population, therefore increasing fear and distrust by “revealing” the “problem” and it works all the time, because people in general as a group can be fickle, fearful and easy to manipulate.


In the MCU world, all you need is for someone on a news channel to say “50% of superpowered based violent crime is done by mutants.” Not all mutants are bad, but most of these crimes are done by them compared to 25% Inhumans and 15% other alien origin and 10% Humans who gained powers by experiment, accident or on their own technology”.

And even in real life, that would get people going, even if before they were bombarded by news like that when they were possibly neutral or Leary of Mutants, afterwards they would be more leary of them that a human like Stark or even Spider-man.

All true. And it would be interesting if they showed the effects of this in the film.

I wouldn’t be shocked if New Mutants 2 films next year. 2018. And then New Mutants 3 films in 2019. In time before it’s finalized.

So, you think that under the current circumstances Fox will put movies into production even before the previous entries have come out? That probably won't happen for several reasons. 1. Fox needs to see how well NM does first. 2. Studios don't just churn out feature films in a couple of months like boxes of cheap wine. 3. Fox is going to want to hold back on new Marvel-based films for a bit to assess how to proceed. No need for them to rush ahead with things right away because they're not under the gun in re: licensing anymore.

I think the solution for me is that the earliest Mutants with the X-Gene were from hundreds of years ago, but they were mostly disfigured and grotesque in appearance and people treated them like lepers and they feared them like it was a disease they could catch. So these Mutants went into hiding underground and eventually this group became the Morlocks with characters like Calaban and Leech. During those hundreds of years in hiding though, the X-Gene continued to mutate further with disfigurements becoming less prevalent and powers starting to develop in many of the mutants. Some of these Mutants that had normal enough appearances even reintegrated themselves into society, while keeping their secret of being a Mutant under wraps. This is the way the world has been for the last 30 years and the general public has believed up to this point that Mutants either no longer exist or keep to themselves in hiding. However, there is a new theory that Mutants are walking amongst them, and there is a public uproar for action to be taken, because people feel threatened by the idea of it, as if they and their families are somehow at risk. Therefore, Bolivar Trask is hired by the United Nations to create a machine that can locate Mutants by locking onto their X-Gene and if they are found he is to eradicate them. So, he creates the Sentinel program and he begins hunting down the Mutants and confirms to the general public their worst fears are true the Mutants walk amongst them. Some Mutants try to start warring against the Human's, but the Sentinel's are too powerful and end up killing many of them. In the mean time Charles Xavier creates a school to teach Mutants how to control their powers and to show them there is another way instead of warring against the Human's, he believes they have to change the human's way of thinking. Some Mutants disagree with his teachings and believe a war is inevitable, so they break off on their own path. Charles continues to ready his students for the difficult road ahead and the confrontation they will eventually have with the Sentinel's themselves.

So, something along those lines.

I think from this point on they are certainly going to be more focused on their projects. It has to weigh on people's minds especially with regard to the Marvel properties that there is a good chance that Marvel Studios will wipe some slates clean. The production staff have to be wondering among themselves if some things are even worth the effort if there is a very good chance that their work will be wiped away in only a handful of years.

Even if they can't acknowledge things publicly, behind the doors at the studio much chatter is happening. I don't anybody is out thinking about world-building with the X-Men anymore. Most people are probably already thinking about moving on in one form or another.

The idea that FOX is going to pump out as many films featuring Marvel licensed characters as possible before Feige officially takes control over the mutants is a tad silly. Donner, Kinberg, Parker and everyone else over at FOX are going to want the transition to the MCU go as smoothly as possible, even if that means the world misses out on "Fantastikids" and "A Very Madrox Movie"

I don't care about the wailing and gnashing of teeth with regards to binning the original X-Men.
The only X-Men movie I've truly enjoyed was X-Men: FC.
I think Marvel can COMFORTABLY improve the X-Men franchise.
I absolutely HATED that all the movies revolved around Wolverine. Just call those movies, 'Wolverine and his Amazing Friends' and be done with it.

you do know when disney reboot the x-men, wolverine will probably still be recast and still be a central character right? You're entitled to your opinion but it feels like you're hating on those x-men films because of logan. It's like me saying that I hate the avengers movies because of Iron man who is even more central to those movies than wolverine is in the x-men films, He even hijacked captain americas movie and he's now a part of spider-mans origin. I personally enjoyed a lot of the marvel movies and don't hold that against them.

I also find it interesting how a lot of comic books fans complain day and night about wolverine and turn a blind eye to characters like iron man and batman. I don't get why logan gets so much irrational blind hate.

Nope. I think the series will be an unology. Even if the movie is a "success", Marvel Studios already have enough " successful" franchises under their belt and the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and the crossovers with them would be their new priorites. New Mutants would just felt like an obligation for the new Fox, since Marvel Studios didn't really make them from scratch and probably wouldn't touch it and connect it to the MCU. The property would feel like a 2nd citizen because of that.

The only movie they talked about greenlighting at the town hall is Gambit. I'd say that's the only other one that has a chance of getting made. But it wouldn't surprise if due to the acquisition it gets put on the back burner.

I think Gambit is going to get made with it being set to go into production early next year, but I'm very skeptical about anything else after that.

If you *absolutely have to* introduce mutants into Earth-Avengers as a major thing ( not my preference, I prefer an Earth 2 model )? One way to do it is an amalgam of old/new. Yes, mutants have always been around. . . however, their numbers were small. "Naturally occurring genetic superhuman" was a superhero origin story that blended in with all the others. "Born weird" or "Gained powers around puberty for no specific reason" was just another rare possible origin story, along side all the "highly skilled" and "tech genius" and "science accident" and "mystic training" and. . .

So what changed? The Infinity War. One of the aftereffects of the ensuing cosmic crap is that the next step of human evolution just got pushed forward by a few millenia. Whereas "mutant" used to be a power origin on the rarer end of the spectrum ( sufficiently so that it probably didn't even have a specific name ), now there are enough mutants popping up to be an actual demographic. Sure, the vast majority aren't really powerful enough to be meaningful as superheroes or supervillains, but that isn't whats important.

I would introduce the Fantastic Four and the X-Men in Avengers 4. In the original Infinity Gauntlet series there is a part in the story where the heroes are looking at a large screen of heroes to find out who's accounted for and who's missing. I would include the Fantastic Four and X-Men in the screenshots as a way to introduce them.

Been reading the last couple of pages here, and I have to say I agree with the consensus. Audiences don't need to be spoon-fed. New elements have been introduced into this universe since its inception, and they can keep being introduced.

Not to mention the fan support. Maybe I'm projecting but I really don't see a big desire for a Channing Tatum Gambit movie. Now if it were in the MCU.... that could change things.
