Disney's live-action "Mulan"

They’ll still lose much more than delaying it a year. There’s a reason they keep delaying it while releasing crap like Artemis Fowl to Disney+. They knew that wouldn’t make any real money for them. This is different. And people can wait a year. The amount of crap out already from streaming services is enough to last us a lifetime.
Yeah the "it's the responsible thing" is silly.

And to your bolded...I agree so much and that's one of the most frustrating things about some COVID related things. People act like without xyz movie that there's nothing out there to watch. It's not like sports. There are hours and hours and hours of shows, movies, or whatever to watch. I love going to the theater too, but people need to be responsible

Wow, well, there ya go. Sign of things to come. The Corporations are abandoning the theaters.

Is this a portent for other big movies like Tenet?
I feel like this is the kind of **** that’s going to make Nolan double-down on putting Tenet into theaters. He’s not going down without a fight.

So...it’s come to this.
Why wasn't Artemis Fowl $30? :o

Yeah, with prices like this, I really have no interest in renting any movie they may dump this way. $30 is more than a theater trip costs me and for a significantly lesser experience. It makes sense as an attempt to get money out of this even though it's almost inevitably a loss, but I'd rent much less than I'd attend a theater.

That's wild, imagine if Netflix started doing PPV on their original movies.

haha looking at people in the comments on facebook complaining that they are charging $30. First they yell for these big budget films to be released at home, and then when theyre charged at home significantly more than what they would be at the theater, people scream and say they'll torrent it. This is why VOD is not gonna work long term and why these movies need to be released in theaters. I have full confidence Nolan is not gonna give in and release Tenet VOD.

Its clear people want everything for nothing and don't give a crap that these films need to make bank.

You know why. You know why.

$30 USD? So around 40 loonies for us Canadians?

Yeah, I'll wait for the Blu-ray release if I'm going to spend that much.

Oh man, I didn't even think about the exchange rate. I could get an IMAX ticket, drink and popcorn at the largest sizes Cineplex offers and still have money left over if that's the case. I wasn't really planning to see Mulan anyway, but if they do this with any movies I do want to see... yeah, I'll pass. That's a lot of money for a much worse experience.

I'm not paying $30 for every movie I want to watch at home on my own computer. That's over twice the price of a theater ticket for a much reduced experience.

Its way too expensive. That's literally the price of 3 movie tickets, so I'm gonna have to pass. I'll watch it when it comes to blu ray if it's not in theaters.

What story did you hear?

At the end of the day after paying for the ticket online and drinks and snacks you are about close to 30 dollars anyways.

I can only remember fast and furious 7 costing me 14.50 online

plus drinks and snacks is around 25 dollars all together

So they’re basically gonna have to revamp the app to allow for this purchase option, right? If so, prepare to pay extra for more things on Disney+ in the future, including things we likely wouldn’t have had to before.

This is the way!
