Disney's Thor?! Some people are complaining that Thor feels like a kids movie!

In the context of the movie I think its preety clear that Its Mjolonir that did it all.

you just have to look for it but it's there. he did flip one of those heavy long tables lol.
there was a line at the end when loki is on his back. he tells thor "even with all your strength there is nothing you can do"

There's showing and there's telling. In movies, it's usually better to show.

I need to clarify something first-I know Thor had Inhuman strength in the movie. It was pretty clear with his flipping over tables and kicking Frost giants. My Piont was that the level of Thors Superstregth was equal to or below Movie Spiderman's.It definitely wasnt Superman level.Sure Thor pulled out some Superman level feats but that was due to Mjolonir not his Asgardian abilities.

Well, Odin says the enchantment that 'whoever be worthy "shall possess the power of Thor", not Mjolnir. So I'm thinking the powers come directly from Thor anyway.

Yes, I would have preferred them make this a little more obvious, but as always, with hindsight we can think of plenty of things they could have/should have done - I'm happy with what we got.

the battles are more brutal

No, they're not. The Frost People explode into fireworks. And Thor barely breaks a sweat.

I wouldn't call it a kids film. But it's definitely more universal and family friendly than Iron Man or Hulk.

The theme of Thor is about growing up. Realizing you have responsibilities as a man, learning from your mistakes and arrogance.

That's a nice way of putting it.

I think of Mjolnir as an extension of Thor himself, like a Shinigami's Zanpakuto in Bleach. Even when Thor couldn't actually lift it, Mjolnir was reacting to his very presence, hence the environmental disturbance.

in the avengers maybe they will showcase thor's strength, maybe he will hold up a falling shield helicarrier or something. in this movie he only had his power briefly on earth, also they had to get across how badass mjolnir is. which i think they did really well.

Oh boy, here we go with the "it was Mjolnir not Thor" nonesense, I knew this was going to happen . I'm already tired of seeing the "movie Superman is stronger than movie Thor" comments just because he's always lifting thing.

Look, Superman does NOT have an enchanted hammer so of course he's going to lift things more than someone who does.

So because I carry around a hammer means that by some superhero law, the need to lift things as a superhero immediately lessens? Awesome logic there BT...

And if you're tired, go have a lie down ;)

(all spoken in jest!)

I said what I meant and I meant what I said.

Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up

well if there anything like the GA i have ran into. There dream of a good movie would involve action with thor ripping people in half while cussing and a 20 min x-rated sex scene would be the "love story." Ill take it like it is thanks.

Well they did sex up the movie with the mighty Hemsworth in that shirtless scene. :o

Let me put it this way.Would Superman need to use a Mystical Hammer to smash up Frost Giants? No his Superstregth is more than enough.Thor however needs his hammer to do so.That should tel you the the difference in Physiacl strength.
My piont still stands-The way the Movie Thors Asgardian stregth was potrayed it is equal or less than Movie Spidermans.

Now you're just being ridiculous, this is THOR, the mystical hammer is part of WHO HE IS not something that he needs because he's weak.

He uses the hammer because it is deeply rooted in his mythos, including both Norse myths amd Marvel comics.

Judging by what people are saying that it looks like a kid film is exactly what I felt when watching the Fantastic Four films, there is no sense of danger or thrills because the storylines aren't exciting, I mean isn't that why FOX is wanting to reboot the FF series to make it harder edge?

I haven't seen the Thor movie yet but I don't think it'll make SM numbers, too bad too since fans are probably looking for more sequels.

This movie will get a sequel, guaranteed. It's already over 100 million and hasn't even been released in the US yet.

I predict at least 400 million WW for Thor.

You are missing my piont.Ill piont you out to the Comic Thor.
The Comic Thor only uses his Hammer against powerful enemies.Otherwise he uses his colossal strength.
If the Comic book Thor was facing an opponent like Hulk he would use his hammer. If he was facing an Opponent as Spiderman he would not use his hammer,as his Superman level Stregth is more than enough.
Comic Thor and Superman would have smashed through those Movie Frost giants with their bare hands..Whereas Movie Thor needs Mjolonir to face them.See my piont?
And no im not dissin Thor.I merely making an observation that I liked!Comic book Thor is way overpowered

I don't think comic book Thor is way over powered. He's a God at the end of the day.

Maybe too overpowered for Earth, but back in the day he was involved in the cosmic side of Marvel a lot more. That's missing from todays Thor comics. Thor isn't just an Earth hero, he should be out in space and what not too.

No, Thor almost never fights with his bare hands and he almost always uses Mjolnir against Frost Giants, Rock Trolls, and just about every other race he fights.

You don't seem to know much about Thor, because Thor doesn't just use Mjolnir on powerful opponents, he uses it in just about EVERY fight.

I don't know if I'd say kid's Movie, but Thor probably plays it too save and formularic. It's still fun though.

^^^ That's pretty typical for an origin film, even the best cmb origin films play it safe and formulaic.

That is definitely not true.I recently read an origin story for Thor(cant remenber which one) which had him busting out of a cage with his bare hands and taking down some Rock type beings(not sure what they were though) without using mjolonir until he neede to(on another topic im a bit confusedon the Donald blake thing,.And from the times I saw Thor fight in Marvel crossovers he used his hammer against tough guys not guys like Spiderman.Seriously think about it spiderman. If you can piont out what weaklin Thor used hia hammer aginst in the comics, then ill agree with you.

^^^ He doesn't use Mjolnir on weaklings in the film either, he fights Frost Giants (not weak), the Destroyer (definately not weak), and Loki (not weak).

weak is spiderman level and below. This is why i say The Frost giants are definitely weak.
Now the Cave Troll and Destroyer are above the level hence the need for Mjolonir.
Loki had a bad ass weapon that was it.His asgardian stregth aint anything to write home about so ill put him down as weak.
