Do you agree it's time to reboot and why?

Just give me your feedback.

To me, "Justice League" is just a big disaster.

I think they should release Aquaman and then reboot the whole universe.

No. It isn't anything that can't be fixed with some actual good writing and a better director.

No. If nothing else, we'd lose Wonder Woman, and she's a hit with audiences. Who knows, Aquaman and Flash might also prove to have some popularity.

Stop making cinematic universes. Keep making solo films. Batman and Superman need a reboot. Wonder Woman is fine. Aquaman - we will see. The rest is perhaps not a priority at this point.

Yep. Reboot everything - just don’t make a big deal out of it. Keep what works, ditch what doesn’t, and build continuity from there.

This. I'd just add that Flashpoint should be cancelled and Flash should get his own solo origin film ala Wonder Woman.

I agree, I’m someone who loves MOS and liked BvS & JL but even I agree that’s Superman and Batman both need another fresh start.

Agreed

I think next time they do Superman they need to kind of do what Supergirl did with Tyler Hoechlin. Whether we want it or not that’s the Superman the majority want. I’m not saying copy and paste that. I’m not saying copy and paste Reeve either. What I’m saying is give us an established Superman. One whose confident in his abilities, one who has the charm and charisma. Pull what people liked from previous versions of the characters from all media. But like Tyler Hoechlin also let whoever you cast make the part his own.

Do all this and you will have the familiarity that people want and the freshness to go along with it.

I also think that they should just bring back the Williams theme. Again it’s what the majority want.

They basically have to make the ultimate Superman movie.

Yeah, just let Gal and Patty go. They've done plenty of interviews and carpet walks and collected enough awards and given enough speeches. Just toss them to the wind.

Of course not.

Batman is getting a reboot, anyway. The next Superman movie will likely be a reboot in all but actor (and yes, we need to keep Henry around).

Enough with the Chicken Little biz.

This is what needs to happen:

Sign an actor who's willing to be around for Batman longer than three movies/eight years. (But if Jake won't do that, sign him for a trilogy, anyway.)

Announce the next Superman movie, with director, ASAP.

Get a movie made with Dwayne Johnson. He's been a placeholder long enough.

Proceed from there. WB cannot afford to slack. At the rate Disney is going, they're eventually going to clog up the four seasons with CBMs and Star Wars films.

Wonder Woman 2 will make money. Suicide Squad 2 will make money. Reeves' Batman trilogy will make money. Don't worry about those films.

I think a soft reboot is the most likely option. Either go forward and recast many of the roles for the heroes who are struggling and largely ignore the films that have come before, or use Flashpoint to reset the universe and keep the things you want while discarding what you don’t, DOFP style.

I’d take it a step further into SG territory and introduce the new Superman as a supporting character in another hero’s movie. Make the fans AND the general audience demand a solo movie for him.

Hard pass on bringing back the old theme, though. It can be referenced in every interpretation if necessary, but each new version should come with its own unique theme.

Ezra's Flash is one of the worst of all time.

So scrap him. Also scrap Affleck, Cavill, and maybe Ray Fisher (he literally made zero impression on me, VERY boring. No charisma)

That leaves us with Gadot and Momoa. I honestly thought Momoa sucked in Justice League, but he's got a movie coming out so it'll be problematic to recast.

Gadot is the only frickin' element that works in this universe. Keep her.

Idk what they should do. Scrap the cinematic universe idea I think. Keep Aquaman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman in the same universe. Don't do Justice League movies. Make a Batman trilogy and don't take great strides to connect it to the rest of the DCEU.

Cavill, Affleck and Ezra gotta go is the main thing.

I was supportive of Ezra from the very beginning and seriously expected a more balanced performance from him. He was annoying as hell with his overboard acting.

I think they just need to get rid of Batman. Forcing Batman in this universe the way that they have is what ruined everything.

I'm not against a reboot but I do see a lot of potential still and the work that these actors put in.

Batman should be in his own universe.

Like Shazam? :cwink:

I actually agree that could really work if done correctly.

I definitely think they should bring Williams Superman theme. It’s what the majority wants.

When they recast Superman they really need to put acting ability before appearance. Cavill looks dead on but objectively he's a pretty bad actor and has turned in (3) weak performances that didn't resonate whatsoever with the general audience.

It really should've been Armie Hammer as Superman all along.

No. They still have Aquaman to come out and we don't know how it will be received and Wonder Woman is wildly popular. You can't reboot her at the very least.

But they do need a new Superman and Batman and I would all but eliminate the connected universe stuff and let them work as standalone film. You can reconnect them later if the franchises are on firmer footing then.

So I guess semi-reboot, but not a full on clean slate.

Yes, from another studio altogether. :sly:

Sure. I have no intention of seeing that movie, but whatever works.

Based on what? Most people I’ve interacted with have been far, FAR more concerned with writing, casting, vision, and the director.

Really how come?

From what I’ve seen, even general people who aren’t exactly hardcore fans are often asking about that theme. I agree those are more important but to bring back the theme imo will add to the goodwill.

Let me state for the record, Your Honor, that I have never been a Shazam!/Captain Marvel fan.

But something tells me it's going to be a cool movie, and I have every intention of watching it.

I’ve never cared about Captain Marvel and I don’t see that changing any time soo .

It didn’t really work for JL.

Get the important stuff right and I don’t think very many people will concern themselves with the theme (provided the new one isn’t awful on its own merits).
