Superman Returns Do you think the beginning of SR will be like the beginning of Star Trek III?

None of the movies, none of the t.v. show incarnations.

I haven't seen any of the newer Star War movies, even though they are really the first 3.

I haven't seen any of the James Bond movies.

I have probably seen more movies than most, but none of the above.

:ghost:

That's real

cant believe people never watch star trek,

its bloody awesome stuff,

and to top it off, Captain Picard is the chancellor of my bro's university, huddersfield,

isn't that cool or what!!

captain picard aka professor xavier comes to present you with your degree!!

how cool is that!

Well, i personaly don`t like STar Trek at all. So i won`t even bother in watching the movies or the TV series...

Um, just out of curiosity, what is it that you do not like about Star Trek? The sci-fi theme? I mean, some of the shows and movies are like apples and oranges in comparison...kinda like comparing Adam West Batman with Batman Begins...or the comics.

^ I'm not to crazy about star trek either, but my two brothers are.. I love Star Wars, so I tried watching some of the old series (star trek that is), and I didn't really think to much of it.. Than i saw The movie "Generation" (isn't that what it's called?!) Anyway I thought that was really cool..

Bryan Singer is a HUGE Star Trek fan, we all know this. From his cameo on the bridge of the Enterprise in ST: Nemesis, to his totally ripping-off the end of The Wrath of Khan for X2, the man loves his Trek. Star Trek III started with the end of The Wrath of Khan, when Spock dies. Do you think SR will start with the end of Superman 2 (redone with Routh), when General Zod dies? Just wondering.

OMFG people still expect to see General Zod. What is wrong with you.

Zod is not dead - Find the Donner version of S2 and you will see all 3 of them alive.

That's just... wrong. LOL I can't imagine growing up w/o having some Trek on the tube.

I've seen 'em, but the last two I just waited for the DVD. Sacrilege, I know.

I stopped watching when Roger Moore left. LOL

Well, we probably have something in common then 'cause I've seen a LOT of films as well, but many are older pics. The new stuff today just doesn't blow my skirt up most of the time.

Hey, Showtime, where in Boston are you?

Everytime I saw Star Trek on television I changed the channel. I don't know what it is but I couldn't get into it.

I like the "blow my skirt up" line, I usually use "doesn't blow my hair back".

I am actually about 10 minutes out of the city, but just list it as Boston to make easier for all involved.

Star Trek is some stuff that doesnt intrest me either, seen a few episodes here or there as a child but never caught my intrest.

I think it would be nice, after the credits, for it to open up with him about to land at the remains of krypton. And he finds nothing and has his journey back. Maybe then it does a "6 years later" at the bottom of the screen, and it shows the ship come crashing down in smallville at the farm again.

You're allowed. ;)

Hee! That works too.

Well, I'm in Woburn on the Winchester line. :)

The reason why I ask is... well... as the June 30th date grows nearer with each passing day, my husband's teases about dragging me by the hair into the theater on that day grow exponentially. It's a bit of a game, y'see, since he's had to put up with cruel and unusual punishment every Thursday night for the last year and then some. *ahem* I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that he's gonna get his pound of retribution. LOL If you're looking for fans to pal with on that day - even fans from the Evil Empire *giggle* - I think it would be a hoot. Just lemme know. :D

Very nice. I grew up in Medford actually and now I live in Melrose, you're very close to me.

I will let you know when the time gets closer, I might be in Maine because it's near July 4th. I'll keep you posted. ;)

Well...its not for my tastes. I don`t like sci-fi movies that much. I just think its a stupid TV series. Yes, i`ve seen some episodes and they`re nowhere as good as Star Wars for me.

I love Star Wars but they were never Sci-Fi movies for me. They are epic and very psychollogical, something Lucas totally forgot in his prequels and became a CGI crap fest.

Well, Except the last movie. That was pretty good but not as good as the old movies for sure!!

Although I've just recently gotten into comics in the last couple years, I used to buy all my Superman T-Shirts there, I think I had 11 in total back in the day.

Mostly I just read comics to research the source material.

I like The Next Generation, some of Deep Space Nine, and a very few amount of Voyager episodes. I loved Star Treks 2, 4, 6, and 8, haha, yes the 'even' ones except 10 which wasn't terrible IMO only not worthy of the other ones. Wrath of Khan is the greatest ST movie ever. Even people who don't like ST all that much can probably enjoy this.

I'm a much bigger Star Wars fan, although I despise the first two prequels. Revenge of the Sith was terrific though, finally a 'real' Star Wars prequel movie with some of the best moments, imagery, and emotion in the entire trilogy.

I will definately check out the Star Wars films at some point, followed by the Bond movies. Never will I check out Star Trek.

You're going to check out Star Wars but not Star Wars?

If you meant Star Trek, I seriously think you'd be missing out. 2,4, and 6 are great films with a lot of different themes and actually deal with some political and social ideas as real Sci-Fi should.

As far as Star Trek goes, the first movie is probably the most sincere in it's attempts to really mine some serious Sci-Fi ground. I do agree that Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is a great little pulp actioner. It's no mistake that Skru mentions 2, 4, and 6, as they're all helmed and written by Nicholas Meyer, who exercises his Shakespeare fetish to very nice results. I personally prefer First Contact to all of those except II, and those two are the only ones I really watch, but I do think you'd enjoy II, IV and VI.

As far as Star Wars goes, I've always found those movies are entirely more enjoyable once you divorce all that "magic of myth" claptrap that was built around the films since 77 as a way to explain why they made so much money. So much of that got built so much that eventually there was no way these space operas could sustain the weight of importance placed on them. They're amazing eye candy with ridiculous sound design and a decent plot to hang it all on. Look at Star Wars movies that way and I guarantee you'll have way more fun with them.

BIG TYPO, I meant Star Wars and not Star Trek.
