World Doc Ock's Lair v2

A painting my friend Liz did :)

Can I once more say that I love the design they did for the tentacles on the movie? They feel bigger, stronger, almost alive (which, I realize, was certainly the point). I'm sure Bendis purposefully had them destroyed in USM so that Bagley could draw new ones that would be based on the movie!

Not a whole lot of activity here in the lair lately so I think I'll start some. We all know Ock has been defeated by Spidey many times, but he has had his share of victories. So, what's your pick for Ock's best beatdown? The Owl, The Hulk, Fusion?

Putting Black Cat in hospital. I can't stand her at the best of times, and think she's nothing but a hindrance to Spidey, so it was great to see Ock show just how useless she is.

To Ock everyone is useless lol

^^^ I re-read that issue recently:

One of my favorite panels from the issue. The overall arc rocked, if you ask me. From Ock moving into Aunt May's house in the previous issue (ASM #54) to Spidey having amnesia and being tricked into teaming up with Ock in ASM issue #56. Just an overall awesome story and one of my many favorite Ock stories.

I loved how it started, and hated how it ended. I was put off by the whole amnesia angle. But it's one of the best tales from the classic Spidey era.

"Hollywood" was the pinnacle it was all downhill from there.

The amnesia angle was great, because Ock convinced Spidey they were criminal partners, and turned him into a fugitive.

Exactly. It was the perfect thing for Ock to do and such a cirminal mastermind type of thing. Literally, Ock prevailed in control of Spider-Man.

Funny how they brought somthing similar into SPider-Man: TAS, lol.

^^ Lol, yeah, true, but they did change some things around. Like that little girl, lol, which also seemed like a nod to the Boy who Read SPider-Man, if I remember correctly.

She WAS a nod. I found it interesting that they swapped a white boy for a Hispanic girl.

^^ As did I, but to be completely honest, it iddn't bother me allt hat much. It was still a really good episode, if you ask me.

I didn't mind. It did have a hint of forced diversity but not enough to really annoy me.

I always loved how in the comics, Aunt May thought Ock was a nice man, lol. Whether it was in ASM annual #1 or ASM #54, etc., I just always got a kick out of it, lol.

Something Aunt May in Spider-Man 2 definitely did not think of him. Dropping you off a building, TWICE, not to mention throwing a big metal safe door at you, might have that effect on your opinion of a person :p

Yup, lol.

I must say, seeing Aunt May hit Ock in the glasses with her umbrella was quite awesome, lol. She had guts for doing that, lol.

And in the 90's series. It's also funny how at the same time she loathed Spider-Man. Remember that time she bashed him in the head with a vase?
