And updated classic. Beautiful stuff

Octophiles--I'm outta the loop. When does Spectacular Spider-Man Season 2 start up?

^^ Well ,basically, it started in Canada back in January and all the episode that have aired there, so far, are online.

Yeah, and you need to check out the Master Planner arc, JJJ, because it is pure undiluted awesomeness.

It'll air eventually in the States, won't it? I'm tempted to spoil my waiting. Half the fun of a TV sometimes is wondering what the conclusion will be next episode.

Argh. I feel temptation winning...

Just give into temptation and watch them on YouTube. Believe me it's worth it. Just wait until you see the Master Planner arc. You'll be knocked for six at it's awesomeness.

Agreed!

It's my favourite on screen adaption of the character. They've captured everything that makes Ock such a great villain.

I was skeptical of Ock at first; his tentacles looked organic; kinda snake-like. But somehow it works.

I dont remember if this was discussed here or not, but in the latest Wizard Loeb has said that the Spider-Man mini he and J.S. Campbell are working on is still a go. They want to get as many issue finished before turning them in to Marvel as they can. Looking forward to seeing their take on Otto and Norman. This has been in the works since June 2006, I wonder how much of the story they have written is still valid in todays continuity.

Never mind, its a non-continuity story.

Hey Demo, are Norman and Ock definitely confirmed for Loeb's story?

A few years ago, I might've said that I would definately be buying it, and maybe even that it would be the top of my reading list. Now, after seeing some reactions to his recent work, I'm not so excited for it, to say the least.

I'm pretty sure Ock is, cuz they made a big thing in a past article about how Campbell's version of Ock looks like Stephen King. And I distinctly remember a Green Goblin sketch as well.

Agreed, back when this was first annouced I was totally excited because this was when Loeb was coming to Marvel. Now after Ultimates 3, Ultimatium, and Hulk......my expectations have totally dropped. Then again, if its not in continuity like Demo said...it might be alright. My expectations can only go up from here.

Exactly. There were Goblin, Ock and Black Cat sketches. I think he said he was going to have a lot of the classic villains show up.

Likewise, I've heard some bad, bad things about his work on Marvel. I enjoyed Spider-Man: Blue. But that was essentially just a retelling of ASM #40-49. He was working off Stan Lee's greatness.

Ahhh great. Thanks guys!

If it's an out of continuity story, then they can do whatever they like with it. No skin off our noses if it sucks.

Although that is true, he used to be a pretty good writer. He did wonders with that story (admittedly I never read the original). And his old work with Batman was really good as well. I don't want to sound insensitive, but I think his downstreak kind of started with his son dying of cancer. Ever since, his writing has been below average. Not that I blame him... I can only imagine how the death of a child would affect someone, especially one so young.

Thats what I assumed, too. I keep hearing that he has become disappointing as a writer but I can only assume the death of his son has something to do with that.

He has his share of critics from the Batman fan base, too. I personally love his work on Batman. However his only Marvel work I've read is Spider-Man Blue. And that is just riding off the steam of Stan's stories in ASM.

I had no idea his son died. That's very sad. If there is a dip in quality with his writing, then it's most likely due to that. And who can blame him?

He said he is going about the Spider-Man story in the same manner as when he wrote Hush. I hope for equal quality.

I have mixed feelings about Hush. YOu ever go on a road trip & as you went further along, you got more & more excited, but the destination was a letdown? That's pretty much how I feel about Hush.

Hush has it's fair share of critics, too. I think the suspect was so obvious. And when it turns out to be him, then it's a major disappointment. Just like The Carver's reveal in Nip/Tuck.

Overall I really enjoyed Hush. Though I think Jim Lee's gorgeous art work is a major factor in that. When Loeb says he's going in the same manner as Hush, he probably means we're going to see loads of Spidey's classic foes in the story, because most of Batman's rogues gallery reared their heads somewhere in Hush.

I could've done without the blue cape & cowl. otherwise the art was awesome. I particularly loved the Superman part.

Heads up about next week's episode on the SSM cartoon. Doc Ock is back again, as they're doing the gang war arc with Hammerhead from the 70's. Silver Sable will also feature in it, too. And apparently Ock has Rhino working for him.
Ock, Hammerhead, and Sable are all after some mysterious prize that will change the balance of power in New York forever.

All sounds very cool.

Yay! :otto:

The Master Planner liiiives! :oldrazz:

Me, ever since One More Day ruined Spider-Man comics for me, I've started to read manga. Recently I checked out a copy of Spider-Man/Doctor Octopus: Negative Exposure out from the library and after a few minutes, realized that I had been attempting to read it from right to left :o
