Your son has excellent taste

That, and the poster of Spider-Man with Ock reflected in his eye,are the only two SM-2 posters I own,or care to own.I have more comic related Spidey posters than movie ones.

Well actually I bought it for him so I should get he kudos....he also has

http://cinemaworld.kodak.com/haibao/spiderman.jpg

http://home.columbus.rr.com/darynbrian/Ultimate%20Spider-Man%20Learning%20Curve%20big.jpg

and another I can't seem to find......(the poster is really black and Spidey is set in webs in a catcher;s position with his delts slightly up)

....and no they're NOT really in my bedroom.....my wife won't let me have one :down :(

Yep...only been doing it since August! lol

I'll finish it someday...maybe.

I've still got it, rolled up in my wardrope, but I've got a kick ass 'Nightmare Before Christmas' one hanging up at the moment. :)

I know! I'm just glad I don't own my a whole house, or it would never get decorated! lol :p

To be fair, all that needs doing is the door & skirting boards painting & shelves going up. I painted the room in just a few days but just never finished it off for some reason...lol

& 'lazy little git' sums me better dude. :p

Look what Artistsean did :)

I don't like the white around the sides of his hair.Makes him look like Reed Richards.

Other than that, not bad. What's the significance of the '6' on his belt?? Is it like an honourary type of badge that shows you're a member of the Sinister Six?? :D

I'd have to muss his hair up some. It looks way too perfect. Other than that its cool.

Does anyone else think Ock looks environmental friendly in that picture?

[still here due to today's clinical being cancelled....]

OMG, Octavius is the hardest person to draw that I have ever attempted. Seriously. Well, okay Spidey might be harder. The man is *impossible* to draw; at least, the comics version is. Hats off to all comics artists who have drawn him in the books & made him look good. Or even fan-art.

I amy be switching to Ultimate Ock or movie-version.... wow. I am not often completely stymied like that. The man is a beast. :)

However I refuse to admit defeat.

p.s. people who mis-spell "Octavius" really tick me off. It's like listening to someone say "nuke-ular" instead of "nuclear." I mean, sheesh.

Wow really?? I thought Carnage would be more difficult to draw. All those Symbiotic tendrils etc.

Silver S is a natural at drawing the tentacled one.All versions-Movie,Ultimate and 616.I think she could draw him in her sleep :)

I guess you're more used to drawing the symbiote folk :) Whatever version you want to draw is cool Sym.Whichever it is I know it'll rock. Thanks again for drawing him.Do you know what pose you're going to have him in??

LOL! :D

Octavias or Octavious are the two common mis-spellings I've seen.

I'm willing to bet that she does draw him in her sleep. ;):p

I can't say much on the pronunciation front, because I'm from Baltimore and we are notorious for saying things wrong. 'Water' is pronounced 'wooter', 'car' is 'cahr', 'wash' is 'warsh'. And I used to spell Osborn as Osbourne. :o

Aw, Drawing Ock isn't all that bad, is it? :( I think he's rather fun to draw.

Carnage is easyeasyeasy. In symbiote form he's easy [you can just go wild!], and in human form he's easy, because he has a really angular face. Him, I could draw in MY sleep. Octavius has fewer angles and sharp planes, so that makes him more difficult.

I will prevail.

Like I say, I respect anyone who can do that. I think she can draw him really fast, too, which I totally cannot do - even for a rough mock-up. I like to make a rough sketch before I commit to the expensive, really nice paper. I am so cheap. :( Although a few of my better works have been on good paper that got drawings erased off it like, 5 times.

Fewer angles and sharp planes is a nice way of saying he's a pudge-pie, isn't it? ;) I look forward to seeing this drawing now.

I don't think I've ever drawn Carnage, come to think of it. Not even in kid-comic form.

There's not an artistic bone in my body.So I tip my hat to you.I think drawing one of Ock's tentacles is hard :O Can you imagine drawing his movie ones

And I have no doubt you will prevail

Well he is ;)

It's all part of his charm.Besides Stan Lee said Octavius had to have a certain amount of heft to him,to be able to walk around with those tentacles on him the way he does.

Are you willing to give it a shot? I bet you'll draw him beautiful

Also, do you use references or your imagination for your artwork?

Yes but he's probably being sarcastic or tricky :o

Depends. Sometimes people have absolute conniptions if you don't get every detail EXACTLY right, so then I try and dig up some reference. I have a picture of Victor Von Doom sitting here unfinished, and for that I looked up what his mask was supposed to look like. (Which by the way, I've not found one decent sized picture yet. They're all like, 200 x 125 pixels big).

I'm amazed so many people like Boy Genius for that very fact - no one's origin story is right, they certainly shouldn't be kids together, and I've totally made up costumes for all of them. Spidey's costume is the way it is purely because drawing all those webs is a pain in the ass, and it saves time to just give him a webbed head.

Yeah, he's a little pudgy but that does not bother me a bit; like Ock says, it's part of what makes him who he is. I like it - if it bothered me, I'd just draw somebody else :) I'm just not used to it, every male I draw is usually a lantern-jawed thing of beauty [heh], so challenge is good.

It's not just pudginess that makes some people harder to render than others though: IMO Venom is a *nightmare* because EVERYthing shows. And it better be looking good too. This type of art, period is just difficult IMO. It really is.

I heard you about the webs on Spidey's costume - you take the fact that like Venom, his entire body is outlined TOO, and then you put webs on top of that... GAH [crumples paper].... not for me! I think one thing with him is, so many people have drawn him so well, I feel there's little left to "say" artistically about him. I want to put him on some gothic gargoyle out in the rain just like 50,000 others before me... it makes me think "why bother... it's been done..."

And lastly, that cartoon you posted a few months back rewriting the Ock/Harry penthouse scene in 3 has totally ruined me. Now every time I rewatch that, Harry screams "You're a haaaack!!!!!" and Octavius should just totally *toss* him off that balcony without even acknowledging the comment, and then ransack the place for the tritium on his own. That keeps NOT happening, and each time it disappoints me more. There's just no justice in this world :) Every time I see that scene I think of that cartoon and laugh.

I totally hear you on the 'it's been done before' thing. I swear there are NO original poses for characters like Spider-Man. He's been twisted and bent into every angle possible, or even impossible for the human anatomy, anyway. You've got to do something really crazy for anyone to give it more than a passing nod of acknowledgement these days.

Lol! Haaaaaaaaaaaaack! I haven't watched the whole movie in a long while, perhaps I should do that tonight to relive the moment that never happened the way it should. We all know better than Sam, don't we?
