^^^ Oooo, that IS nice.

In honor of my new avatar: this totally fabulous artwork...

That is such an awesome pic Sym.And your avvy is teh roxxers :D

Ock's lair was so creepy and cool in SM-2.That whole scene of him with his reactor fired up and him standing in front of it,was awesome.

And one more pic... if you want either of these, grab them now.

I bought the art-book for 2, looked at the Ock concept stuff and then put it up, not wanting to spoil the end of the movie for myself. I then sort of forgot I had it till today.

Look closely at his eyes. This scan is not really big enough to see them perfectly clearly.... I really, really would have liked to see damaged, eerie-looking, maybe even "burned" eyes on the post-accident Ock a la Ultimate, that would have been beyond cool. [Although being able to see Molina's eyes was good, too.] That would have made very plain to us that this guy was no longer quite human.

Of course, God forbid anything interfere with Raimi's vision of nice-guy Ock; we wouldn't want to find him SCARY, dear me no. They also cut out the bit about the "Vitruvian Man" poster in the lab, and that was criminally stupid... they pulled punches all along the way with that movie, it seems. GAH

...speaking of Vitruvian Man, here he is. Got quite the little ego on him, don't he? :D I must protest the underwear, though. Vitruvian Man does not wear underwear!

Excuse the crooked scan, I didn't want to crush the spine on my book.

[...dont you love how between one post and the next, you can suddenly be logged out? That rocks. I love the Hype ]

Those are excellent pics Sym

I would have loved if his eyes were freaky scarred, like Ult Ock's.Although if you look at Molina's eyes in the cafe scene, when he takes off his shades, there's black bags or bruising under them.Either they are scars from the accident,or he just hasn't been sleeping much.

That Vitruvian man pic of Molina looks amazing, and thank god he has underwear on him ;)

Is that a bomb he's holding in one of his tentacles?? Or is it some spherical shaped object with that long tongue thing that comes out of his tentacle claw, which he uses to snatch people???

I've got that picture of him hanging on my wall down here, it's the most disturbing picture of Ock I've ever seen, but it's just so cool looking.

And YES! Thank you! What a big mistake it was for them to ditch the Vitruvian man idea. That was such a fantastic idea, and they didn't bother using it. Would have made us realize what an inflated ego the guy had, instead we didn't really get much a sense of that at all. More or less we got someone who saw the lines of right and wrong blur together at the end before having some big revelation that the real Ock would have only used as a ruse to get out of a bad situation just so he could come back again later. :D

I couldn't sleep last night so I finally got out of bed at around 12 and just started flipping through the first thing I pulled from the bookcase, which happened to be the When the Stars Turn Cold tpb. And I was just kinda glancing through the artwork and hating it with mad passion and thinking about how -I- would draw an aging Otto Octavius when I was hit with the sudden and demanding idea to write a little blurb about a much olderOtto who's retired himself from the rampant life of a criminal and has a mortal desire to get his story out there in public. You know, a portrait of a criminal, the stuff no one gets to see or hear about because news crews aren't there.

I've only got a short bit written up, but I'm going to post what I got. Maybe it'll inspire everyone to write up a piece to add like back when we had the story thread, but instead of going wily nilly, this'll have structure. Just an idea. I certainly don't have time to work on it all the time, so it might kind of fizzle out. But for now, we can use the entertainment whilst twiddling our thumbs waiting for SM3 news we can actually cheer over.

Sorry to hear that Silver.Have you tried taking Tylenol PM? That helps

I realize I'm always behind on the goings-on in the Marvel Universe these days, mostly because I don't want to read their crap anymore and would rather revel in the old stories, but what in the blue hell is this crap?

Why is it GOLD and RED. Tony Stark's behind this madness? Why?! When did Tony Stark make Spidey his b**ch?!

It comes from the "Other" arc....I'll give you the 2 cent tour

1/ Spidey finds out he's dying of some sort of disease, is it a known ailment?...can he be cured".....three issues later....we still don't know

2/ Morlun comes out of the wood works and beats Spidey to within an inch of his life as well as eating his eye....he's carried off to the hospital......we still don't know what exactly it is that's killing Pete but I'm guessing bad writing

3/ Morlun goes to the hospital to finish the job...decides to break MJ's arm (not to worry, it was healed by the next issue)....but The Spider has just enough life in him to take out Morlun for good...yay!!...Oh did I mention he used "wolverine like" stingers??....but sadly dies after biting off Morlun's head....

4/ While trying to decide how to explain Pete/Spidey's death to the world an alarm goes off ......yes Pete's dead body has been ripped open and something has escaped....that something is now held up in a cocoon underneath some bridge.

5/ The cocoon breaks open and voila...Petey with his new eye and new body...all previous injuries in the past 10 years have healed up...yay!!......Stark tells Pete..."geeze dude...thought you were dead...threw out all your pajamas sans the one pair I kept for prosperity sake.....oh but not to worry...for some unknown and ungodly reason I'm going to design you a suit that'll make Electro grimace.."dude...that is cheesy"

6/ now Spidey finds himself fighting the Spider God.....and now you're caught up on the "Other"

...you're welcome...:)....sadly I didn't embellish a thing.....it really is that bad!!....be thankful I didn't mention the Iron MJ and Iron Aunt May ep :(

...you're kidding me. What the hell is The Spider? Is that a mutated Peter Parker?

There are no words for this. None.

The Spider (and No unfortunately I'm not making this up :( )...is that part of Pete that he was afraid to embrace when he was first bitten (which was apparently pre-ordained not accidental)....so afraid to embrace it that he even designed his spiderman costume like a spider so that he could keep the "Spider" on the outside.....in fact Pete has a conversation with "his Spider Side" (no not the Clone) while in the cocoon.......as JMS repeats ad nauseum ...."The man is gone, Only the Spider Remains"...

there are no words for it.....well there's a few but.....

You saw that quote from Quesada that described either a real published exchange or his vision of what might have happened, right? Basically, Stark's design, Stark's colors. His house, his rules, just like Quesada runs Marvel Comics. Runs it right into the God damn ground, that is.

:wolverine

you know... that arc sounds just so off-the-wally-bad that I have to read it and respond with a huge wtflmaorofl-wow.

excerpt to clarify any confusion:

"Designed by Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada, this new design has a few tricks up its sleeve. "The Iron Spider design- as I like to call it- came to me during a Spider-Man story meeting we were having, we were talking and I was involuntarily sketching on a pad. It's inspired by a sketch that Chris Bachalo did that showed a new Spidey costume with . I thought that was brilliant, especially since it echoed one of Spidey's greatest villains, and I took the idea and imagined it as though seeing it through the eyes of Tony Stark. The sky's the limit with respect to gadgetry when it comes to Tony inspired costumes."

The sky's the limit, eh? I think they hit the glass cieling a while ago then.

A non Ock related post for my friends who don't frequent the SM-3 boards much, like Nick,Silver S,and Venom_uk,this is the latest shocker we've been landed with regarding the movie..

I never saw this coming in a million years.

I 've got mixed emotions.....like watching my Mother in Law driving off a cliff................IN MY CAR!!!......I'm so confused :(...why couldn't Raimi just leave her alone?

Sam... Anal Sam... please, oh God please... do not screw this one up in any way for even Jasmine opened my eyes to the Gwen Stacy arc and I really enjoyed it.

:shakes fist: Don't screw this upppp Raimiiiiii.

1. Are we absolutely -sure- this is for real? [about Stacy]

2. LOL if it is! How can we make this MORE of a mish-mash of God alone knows what?! For real! Think about it. I guess we could make it more of one by throwing Venom in there.... Where is this film headed? Who is the star? IS there a star? What's going on? How in blazing blazes can we make a coherent plot out of this cast of characters?!

However when AdvancedDarkness said this, I just had to laugh:

Maybe Mary Jane will become Venom and Kraven will hunt her down on the moon.

 I swear that'll be next.

Ooooo! Do it! I, too am a terribly busy person but if I can find a way to contribute, I will. [having recently hit a roadblock with Carnage... ]

I loved When the Stars Turn Cold; that stuff with Carlyle was hilarious. I throughly enjoyed watching the upstart get schooled.
