Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 1

A few weeks ago Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that Doctor Strange will be starring in his own solo film as part of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This was great news for fans of the Sorcerer Supreme and also opened up the possibility of a Defenders movie somewhere down the line. As a matter of fact, the addition of Stephen Strange to the MCU opens up a whole universe of exciting possibilities.

With that in mind, let's turn our attention to casting the good Doctor. The previous casting thread was started in 2008, which meant that some of the choices were woefully out of date. The updated list of suggestions presented here was collected from members who posted in the now defunct thread. The poll is multiple choice; you can select up to three candidates. "None of the above/Other" is also a choice, though if you choose that option you can name the actor you prefer in the comments.

Paulie Walnuts for the win. :funny:

totally unrelated but with a 2016 release date and a director attached, shouldn't there be a Dr. Strange section by now? or do we have to wait until Cumberbatch is presented at SDCC?

Originally voted for Viggo Mortensen, but it does'nt sound like he enjoys roles in these type of CGI heavy movies.

If I had the Marvel checkbook for a day I would hire George Clooney to play Stephen Strange, but I also really like the idea of Jude Law in that role.

I've been thinking about this....

If Korean Actress Claudia Kim is playing Su Yin in Avengers: Age of Ultron, might she show up in Dr. Strange as one of his hospital colleagues?

Clooney would be so much fun to watch in such a role. I picture a cross between Burn After Reading and O Brother Where Art Thou, for some reason.

I know this guy is getting up there in age too, but could be epic fun (and would probably destroy the internets if he was cast)....the one, and only, Bruce Campbell:

WANT. NOW.

:hubba

Bruce Campbell has already defeated Spider-Man numerous times. It would be beneath him.

You know at first I was against someone like Jean Dujardin taking the role. But now I think it would be cool if Marvel did open up the MCU a little by having a non American superhero. I dont mean a non American actor playing an American, but having a foreign superhero. Jean Dujardin, Joel Edgardton (using his actual accent), Pedro Pascal and guys of that type wouldnt be bad.

Although my top choices are still 1) Adrien Brody 2) Ethan Hawke. I really hope Brody get's considered. He's a really good actor who hasnt been in anything decent since Predators in 09 and even that is debatable. He did have a great cameo in Midnight in Paris. He's criminally underused

I really hope that Cumberbatch or Hardy dont get the lead of Stephen Strange

Right. Because nobody listed here hasn't been mentioned 100 times for the role as well. Not to mention most of them are the same names mentioned on almost every fan casting list for every character. Yes, the obvious is being stated in the article, but RetinaDrum is not a comic book fanboy site, so not everyone knows that you all have been fantasizing about these things for years.

Then why post it here in the first place if you know everyone here has already heard it a million times? I mean I don't give a **** but it seems silly to get angry when someone calls it out as an unoriginal article when you yourself admit it isn't aimed at fanboys in the first place. Yeesh.

I'm thinking the Jared Leto rumor is getting closer to reality.

Leto just Tweeted a new look for himself:

Looks like Leto is serious about this, if he ditched his trademark Jesus look for a spittin' image of The Good Doctor.

Whoa. That for real? Maybe there is something in that - seems like too much of a coincidence.

If he's cast I hope he has the goatee as opposed to the handlebar look.

Yeah, the shorter hair, the classic mustache, even the cocked eyebrow. "The doctor is IN."

Leto was asking his cultists followers on FB and Twitter what they think of his new look (he gives no indication it's about Dr. Strange or any movie role), and everybody hates it. Even celeb blogs are confused by it and bemoaning the loss of the beard and long hair.

Yeah, just seen that. One site even referred to it as a 'strange' look, without even a mention of the role, the character or marvel. Very cryptic. Hmmm.......,.

Like Leto wouldnt mind if he got the role at all. But he looks like a chode lol.

Just give him a goatee

I'm digging the moustache. I would rather him rock the stache than a goatee just like Stark's.
