Wait, Evans as Cap is to be criticised now?

Wait, Evans as Cap is to be criticised now?
They should have him as English IMO. Every MCU lead has been a straight white American make (except Thor) so some diversity in that area would be nice

English or American?
I have never been impressed in anything I've seen him in. This is an even safer and boring choice than Chris Evans as Cap. The only silver lining here is WE CAN FINALLY GET A F***ING DOCTOR STRANGE FORUM
To be honest, I'm English and I'd hate for them to do that. I'm a bit of a purist and I want the actors to both look and sound as much like the characters (who I've read for years) that they are portraying.
Anyway. Think he'll do really well. Thought he was great as Smaug, although a lot of the credit has to go to the makeup artist. He looked like a real dragon. (at least the one's I've seen).
How is he meant to sound like a comic book character?
Tim Roth had a show on American TV and there are a large number of British actors currently starring in American shows right now. Timothy Spall rarely gets leading man roles in Britain so he isn't really a good example.Think a lot of American actors struggle, because at a young age they are only considered for parts based on looks. Then they are taught the always smile, perfect hair, perfect looks etc...
This means that a lot of actors with character are missed out on. Or only get roles when they are a bit older.
British tv (i think) is probably more grounded in realism. A lot of people are ugly or fat or have a big nose. If we are watching a tv show about a hospital we don't expect to see a movie star in ER, we expect someone who looks like total crap, that has just had a seriously bad day. These actors (if they are good enough) can then go on to do movies etc... Would Timothy Spall really have got a chance on American TV? Ray Winston, Tim Roth?
He has always been a bit of a geeky oddball from what I have seen.Don't get me wrong, I've seen him interviewed and he's a pretty funny guy, not up his own ass or holier than thou. ****, he just did a dance to a Beyonce jam the other night. Before he always kinda came off as one of those "I'm totally method and devoid of humor" guys, but he's doing a goddamn Penguins of Madagascar movie so I took it back.![]()
I don't think they said Charles Xavier isn't American born in the films. The Xavier mansion is still located in upstate New York in the films.Charles Xavier is technically American but Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy play him British. Probably not a big deal at all as long as they're well-acted.
Were Spiderman, Superman or Batman English because of who played them?
No, but Professor X was.
I think from the books and from animated movies and shows he just has a very pompous way of talking. Like he was raised in a big ass mansion on the east coast in some forest.
Cumberbatch does a American accent in August: Osage County.

Not unless you actually listen to the dialog in these films since in Thor1 Hogun clearly says Loki is a master of magic.
