Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 2

Marvel wouldn't pay Leo his 20
million asking price and he wouldn't want to sign a 6-9 picture deal.
Thats probably why it wont be anybody too big.
It will be an and coming star , not an established one .

I agree.

Marvel don't even need a big expensive A-lister like Leo (I doubt an indie actor like Phoenix gets top dollar by the way), they need somebody who is right for the role regardless of their current status in Hollywood. The Marvel name is of course the biggest selling point of their film for the forseeable future. I'm not saying that every film is going to do as well as Guardians of the Galaxy but 200mil should be assured in the near future unless the film is considered bad. Even then it might open up too big to miss that number.

Matthew McConaughey may not be a bad choice. I remember his name being thrown around in fan circles about a year ago. Granted, his Southern drawl may seem misplaced.

Leonardo DiCaprio wouldn't be bad either I think.

I could get behind MM, he's a damn good actor, although i've yet to see him in any movie loose that southern accent. I'm sure he could, if actors can do southern accents then it should be the same in reverse. Although i don't really care if he has it or not. I don't think Marvel will go with MM but it would be good if they did.

Leo?? Um no. He could pull it off but I just don't care personally for Leo as Strange.

Everyone always assumes because an actor is A-List that he wouldn't commit or want to be tied down for multiple films. I think a Leo or a Tom Cruise would surprise you. I personally think that Cruise's plate always seems to be full of projects after another but none of us know.

I agree with you,but from where do you find the persona the persona in Radcliffe? He has the charisma of a plank! Emma Stone outshone him in most of the later Harry Potter movies.

If he had the acting chops comparable to Phoenix,I could have looked past it.

Tell me one thing Radcliffe brings to the table? He is complete mismatch, have you ever heard of world class neurosurgeon who looks 25?

What HP movie was Emma Stone in??? I don't recall it?

Radcliff is not a poor actor. He delivered what the HP films wanted. He is likable and a good actor. Yes he is too young for my tastes but him a little older I'll be fine with him as Strange. It's pointless because Marvel will never ever cast the guy who played HP the wizard to play Dr Strange, another wizard.

Neither of them need to do a superhero movie. Both are too big names. Cruise's name sells a film internationally so he doesn't need the Marvel brand. Leo wants that Oscar first before he would probably even consider a superhero movie. Not every A-List actor wants to do a Superhero movie.

Denzel Washington has come up as a possible option for T'Chaka. My opinion is that the only way he plays T'Chaka is if the role is like Odin in the Thor movies. If the plan is for T'Chaka to die in the first act of a Black Panther movie, Denzel is not the guy.

As for Doctor Strange....if his experience writing for Iron Man 2 didn't sour things between him and Marvel, Justin Theroux would be a good option.

I'm still thinking Jake G gets this role. Oscar Isaac if not for Episode VII would have been my top choice. My sleeper pick, though he is on the older side is Rufus Sewell.

Has Jake G been mentioned in any of the trades as a possible option?

if they want a up and coming actor like Hemsworth was then Aidan Turner from Being Human UK, The Hobbit Films and Mortal Instruments might be a good pick.

He is not a poor actor but I didn't feel any presence or charisma is any of the Harry Potter movies(Maybe because he is still young)

I think the only reason some people are favoring him is because he has played a wizard, but the fact remains that apart from being a wizard, the character of Doctor Strange is as far away from Harry Potter as it can be

Not recently it hasn't

Jake Gyllenhaal is probably one of the most underrated actors out there,he has had a decent enough career but he still hasn't reached his potential,he could have easily pulled off both Spider-man and Batman but unluckily missed out on both

Can he play Strange? He does have the acting chops to pull it off

I don't know, I think that after Prince of Persia failed, it feels he's very comfortable in that independent, thriller kind-of movies. I like him more that way.

Don't know if Gyllenhaal couldve pulled off Batman

But agreed on Spider-Man. Him and Dylan O Brien are too Peter Parker choices that Im sad never panned out. Brien still might have a shot.

But yeah Gyllenhaal would be cool for Strange

I don't particularly think Daniel Radcliffe would be a great choice, but I also don't think his height has much to do with it.

Never actually said Daniel was a good choice. Actually, I saw him on Broadway and wasn't all that impressed, and no way I would pick him for a role like Doctor Strange (not that he's terrible, he's just not someone with the charisma required). I just think that people picking based solely on physical appearance, which seems to happen all the time on this board, are really limiting their options.

I've been trying to think of actors that would be legit surprises that no one saw coming. For some reason Jay Baruchel popped into my mind. He's goofy and could add a quirky twist to the character.

Did he just say he wanted a "goofy, quirky" Dr. Strange?.....

My top 3, in no order

Jason Isaacs
PROS: Great actor, real gravitas. CONS: 51 yrs old, multi-film contract seems unlikely for a Dr. Strange on medicare

Oded Fehr
PROS: Looks the part. has some stature on film. CONS: Is he leading man material? I think not.

Timothy Olyphant
PROS: Great Actor, Definitely a leading man able to make Dr. Strange dark and edgy. CONS: At 46 yrs old I think any multi film contract will be tough but not impossible as he has a much younger look.

Another on the list I think would be a great fit is ‎Alexander Skarsgård. At least I think Dr. Strange would get a 20 point bump in the 18-49 Women demo :P

I'm more of a Joe Estevez guy myself.
