Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 2

Bummer about Phoenix, but I'm not surprised. I think he would have been very hesitant to sign on for something so huge with so much commitment. He seems to like smaller films and staying out of the limelight.
Some have been suggesting Casey Affleck or John Cusack… or Keanu Reeves.

Just throwing more off the wall names out there.
Casey, now that's an interesting choice I hadn't thought of. Right age, talented, could blend with an ensemble. Not sure he has the right sort of charisma for this part though. I'll have to meditate on this one ...

Meanwhile, Hamm is starting to wane in appeal to me. He has the right look and feel, but I'm skeptical that he has the presence and talent to carry Strange on the silver screen.

At this point I'm hoping they have Viggo on speed dial as a plan B, because even though he's probably too old for what Marvel is looking for, he'd be worth making an exception for.

If we're gonna go young, how about Josh Hartnett then?

Someone perfect to play him would be Michael Fassbender

Too bad he is already Magneto

Phoenix is one of the worst people to meet according to autograph seekers. He refuses to take pictures with fans and sign stuff.

As for my own personal experience, I was lucky enough to meet him at the Venetian in Vegas a few years ago. He was hosting a nightclub party. This was during his time in exile, scraggly beard and all.

He gave me the "Oh sorry, I'm in a hurry." excuse. I told him I was a big fan of his (loved his performances in Gladiator and Walk The Line). I guess he felt bad so he shook my hand and gave me a hug to make up for it. So while he declined my photo op request, he wasn't a d*ck about it.

It's not just that, being in a Superhero franchise and especially Marvel it goes a lot further than just acting in it.He would have to advertise it all over the country and sometimes in different countries.

You have to attend comic cons, sign autographs and talk in interviews, talk shows and what not

Its better this didn't happen,Marvel needs to avoid another disaster like Norton(many might disagree but its one of the reason marvel is nervous making a Hulk movie again)

James Franco

James Franco, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I like Franco too, but not for Strange. He was soso as the Wizard in OZ the Great and Powerful. No charisma what so ever. Franco is good in certain roles. I can't see him reciting spells with his voice.

I would have preferred him as Batman over Affleck. I don't know about Strange. He could probably pull it off, I've not seen a role where I can relate him to Strange. I'm sure he'd do it though. I mean what else has he got to do. He nosed dived his career thinking he was so big that he could break for a while and come right back, His words not mine. He's a decent enough actor. Not sold 100 percent.

What about Bradley Cooper? I know he was Rocket already but would it be a big deal?

It would be a big deal. Plus, he's a wrong fit for this role.

A big deal why? Paul Bettany played Jarvis and Vision. Is Vision and Jarvis the same in the Mcu?Cooper used a bit of an accent with Rocket as well.

Google, do you speak it?

Here's one for inspired casting and one I think nobody has suggested.

Daniel Radcliffe. I think the guy would kill it.

Joaquin has hinted at why he passed on bigger budget films before! I can't link it cause of bad language. He wasn't comfortable with making so much money and all of what came with making those big budget movies.
Short snip:

To get to that place where you're making those movies? I just don't know many people who have made it and kept their identity. I've never made $20 million. I'm scared.

Lol to put it simply. jarvis is an A.I. and vision is an android who uses A.I. to operate. Meaning jarvis and vision are two sides to the same coin. A transformation of
characters.

Bradley Cooper is a god awful pick for strange tho. Imo.

The only actor I want to see playing dual characters is vin diesel playing black bolt and groot and its all kinds of obvious why that works. Bradley Cooper regardless of the accent still sounded like himself.

Is it like running joke for Dr. Strange to not have his own forum.

Marvel films aren't given their own forums on SHH unless fans mount a campaign. The usual rationale is that there are space limitations. FF, Ant-Man and GOTG didn't get forums for a while after they had release dates.

On the other hand, Justice League had a forum as soon as there were rumors about it. That's how it goes here.

Will you stop.

You probably don't know this but the entire forum and site was entirely dedicated to Spider-Man. It was actual the The Spider-Man Hype! forums.

Plenty of our staff are incredibly big fans of both the Disney Marvel films and the Fox/Sony ones. This bias you're implying simply doesn't exist.

Are you saying that the Marvel films I named were given forums as soon as they were greenlit by their respective studios? Because that's not what happened.

Doctor Strange has been confirmed by Marvel yet all it has is a thread in the misc. Marvel forum. That's not really a surprise.

By the way, I've visited this site since it first came online. Remember the countdown and all the hype. That was back in the last century, though.

1. Jack Huston
2. Michael Sheen
3. Justin Theroux
4. Richard Armitage
5. Luke Evans

That's my top 5 list to play Dr Strange. Each has the look and acting ability to play the role and most have experience in CGI heavy films.

Yeah I tend to agree.
His Harry Osborn was great and he was great in movies like 127 hours. But he does have the tendency to sleep walk through some of his movies

He could kill it as Strange if he puts his head into it but it isn't a risk worth talking for Marvel
