Plus the last thing Marvel needs is yet another white guy named Chris.

LOL. Although they could cast him as Nova or Quasar. I think he'd fit Nova better though. That would still be funny, especially since he's one of the three chris's that people get mixed up. I swear i was IMDB about 2 or 3 weeks ago and they had Chris Evans picture but had him listed as Chris Pine

I'm gunna be real upset if Leto doesn't get it.

Almost as upset as I'd be if Cucumberpatch gets it

My favorites right now are Reeves and McGregor. They're the only two that I can picture casting spells and not making it seem ridiculous.

Leto would be fine, as would Cumberbatch or Hawke; but they're not my front runners.

I love the Superman films as much as anyone. But I just can't see a dead cripple playing Strange. Just doesn't work.

My biggest concern with Reeves is whether or not he has the dramatic chops for this. This is at role that needs that.

Cumberbatch is obviously one of the best guys out there but he's one of the best contenders for 70% of roles out there, not just this one. He can only play so many characters. As long as he's continually doing great work I don't mind specifically where he's being used. But there are guys who are better suited to Strange than other characters.

Well http://www.cinemablend.com is reporting that it's down to just three guys now.

Cumberbatch: Cumberbatch's plate is full so the odds are not in his favor and they also mention that WB wants him for something in BvS or JL.

Reeves:Their saying he can slide right into the role, and his plate appears not to be full.

Farrell: He's going to be tied up next year with shooting that series he's on so the odds are slim for him

I guess we can all still take all this with a grain of salt. My cash is on Reeves if it's down to just these three. Here's my take again.

Reeves:The problem with him that Marvel may have is his age. Even though i don't think it matters but if they are looking for long term he may not be the way to go but then if he's in the mic Marvel must not care. Reeves would be great.
Although I don't think it matters but Marvel may be waiting to see how Wick does when it comes out. If it's a hit it's gonna get buzz around Reeves big time

Cumberbatch: I can get behind him easily, but the negative is that he's such a safe pick and everyone expects him to be awesome including me. I can however see him not living up to expectations. Just saying is all but he could do it. I heard a rumor that DC wants him for Brainiac. I'd much rather him take that role. That would be awesome.

Farrell: God No! Really Marvel????

Well here's one more name to add to the mix. Josh Hartnett. Not saying Marvel is interested but things have been awfully quiet around him lately and he's trying to break back into Alist status. He could work.

I'm going to laugh if they go back to Phoenix. Oh lawd.

I'd be happy though.

I'm not especially impressed by Cumberbatch's american accent so I'd take Reeves over him. I don't get the Colin Farrell hate.

I like all 3 as actors but none of them feel right for this role.

Some might dislike him but others like myself just don't think he makes a good lead in big budget action adventure films.

The fact that Justin Theroux is interested means that he had a good experience with them in writing Iron Man 2.

I disagree.

The only one wrong for it is Colin Farrell. Not only is he just not a right fit for it, but he's also not a good leading man.

@Nokio

It's weird to think that Reeves would be the oldest actor cast as one of the main heroes. But if he keeps injecting himself with baby blood as he must have been doing for quite some time now then he won't show his age even when's he's 60.

Maybe it's just me, but I could picture Farrell as Strange. He's not even in my top three though so it's not like I'd be upset if he didn't get it.

I joked on Twitter that Keanu and Paul Rudd need to start a never-aging Avenger team. Because if you had told me Reeves was 50, I'd have slapped you. Keanu looks phenomenal. Ditto Rudd.

Also, since Keanu is basically part-Hawaiian/PacIslander, he's not entirely all-white dude. I count it for diversity sake! ;)

Since he is part Hawaiian, Chinese, English, Irish and Portugeese could fill a lot of quotas.

I don't get the Farrell hate. He hasn't picked the best blockbusters to sign on to, but he's a very talented actor. For In Bruges & Saving Mr Banks he was one of the best parts in all round great films. Throw in stuff like Triage, Ondine, The Way Back, Seven Psychopaths, Phone Booth, hell even stuff like Horrible Bosses & Fright Night.

He's built, and continues to build, a very solid filmography. Calling him "awful" is just absurd.

I don't think age is much of an issue for Dr Strange. I'd be worried if they were going for someone too young looking in fact, like a Justin Bieber.

Agreed.

He's not my first choice, but if it came down between him and Reeves, it's no contest. He can act circles around Keanu.

You know, I'd be curious to see Tom Cruise as Stephen Strange.
