Massive spoiler for episodes one and two confirmed. Don't look if you don't want to know. I am NOT kidding.

:( I'm gonna miss the cuteness.
I have been missing her cuteness from the day she was cast. It was the same with Amy. Doctors and companions just don't have enough time on Who. :csad:

On the bright side, the quality companions don't seem to disappear after the show and she already has a nice role I am interested in lined up. :yay:

I really hope Clara last the entire season. They promised her back for a full season. I don't want her exiting in episode 10 or earlier, though that seems like a real possibility considering the structure of a certain episode.

The only thing definite about Clara is she will not be in the Christmas Special so she may be there until the last minute of the last episode of the season.

Taken just this morning

Doctor Who and Beatle's conspiracy theorist are having a field day with this photo LOL

I hear the tin foils crinkling all over the web as they try to decipher the meaning.

I wish news like "Clara is leaving the show" didn't come out before the new season even started. Like maybe halfway into the season would be better. Or like we didn't know at all until the episode where it happened.

These days it is very hard not to know of casting changes. At least we don't know if Clara is merely or being killed off the series in some semi-permanant way (since on Doctor Who, no one is ever truly permanantly dead).

I watched last year's Christmas special with my seven week old daughter this morning, so I'm pretty sure her first exposure to Santa Claus is the Nick Frost version.

So basically, it's all down hill for her from here.

I want multiple companions. They seem dead set on giving us at least one female companion from modern day Britain, so I say make the second companion a wildcard.

I'd love someone who's completely lost in modern day Britain. Give us someone from the future who sees it all as ancient history, or an alien who views Earth as a strange world.

And a black or South Asian actress wouldn't hurt.

I want this again too. When Jack joined Rose and the Doctor, it was just fun. When Rory came on full time, it made them feel like a big family.

It's likely they need a young woman from the 21st century, to function as both the Doctor's link to the contemporary audience and service the adolescent wish fulfillment of the sad girls who own Tardis dresses, and they likely need a young man for her love interest, but I wouldn't mind a third companion as well, kind of an older guy like the Brig who the Doctor can bounce his crazy **** off of and who can give it back to him sometimes.

It will be interesting to see who her replacement will be. I know it would never happen but I wouldn't mind if they brought back an old companion though all the modern ones are "locked away" which hopefully won't happen with Clara.

The question of why the Doctor always winds up with a modern-day British woman seems to come up every time there's speculation about a new companion. Yet the Doctor winds up with a modern-day British woman 9 times out of 10 anyway. I gave up being irritated by it a while ago. I'd love to see them change the formula up a bit, but the people in charge obviously like that formula, so I doubt it's going anywhere.

Well having a young companion and a young doctor had a certain sexual chemistry but now that we have Capaldi, this would probably be the most likely time to introduce a male companion. It opens a lot of possibilities.

"The Magician's Apprentice" Excellent start to the season I thought the atmosphere was eerie, there were some genuinely funny bits and some interesting visuals.
The Handmine field during the intro was really creepy looking as was Davros' servant Colony Sarff. It was also nice to see the returns of The Maldovarium, the Shadow Proclamation and the Shadow Architect, the Sisterhood of Karn and Missy. Peter Capaldi appearing playing electric guitar on a tank was one of the coolest moments ever. The scene where Colony Sarff transforms into a bunch of snakes was pretty crazy. The reveal that Bors from "The Doctor's Meditation" was a Dalek puppet came as a complete surprise. Seeing Clara and Missy work together in an uneasy alliance was certainly interesting. Loved the use of the classic Doctor clips especially "Unlimited rice pudding!" Great reveal that the space station was actually on the planet Skaro. That was one hell of a cliffhanger!
Really looking forward to next week and will probably rewatch this a few times.

Capaldi, in this one episode, has a night and day difference between last series, in terms of characterization of 12. I'm glad that Moffat seems to be moving away from making him "teh dark and grittyz" Doctor and letting him have some fun.

Great episode. Seems like Part 2 is going to be Timey-Wimey.

I really liked Missy this episode. I wasn't crazy about her in the finale. Too hung up on "loving," the Doctor, and I really didn't care for her making an army of Cybermen "for him." She started with that mentality here (in a sick, demented, "I'm gonna crash a bunch of planes if I don't see him" type of love), but I like that when her ass is on the line, she becomes classic Master, bargaining with the Daleks and throwing everyone else right under the bus. I'm not sure what they are going to do with her in coming episodes. But I can't wait to find out.

Random aside --- I wish we got an actual explanation about how she survived. "I'm alive, its a thing, move on," is funny, but not really satisfying to the audience.

Holy ****, I totally forgot that the series premiere is tonight until I came to this thread. I caught the beginning just in time.

Holy crap... Five minutes and already it starts with a huge dramatic bang.

I want to bear Missy's children. :hrt:

Or failing that, be bio-host to her parasitic insectoid hive army.

That was a great opening. Missy is great.

It was a good opening. Missy was entertaining and Capaldi felt more Doctorish than he was before. As Matt said, not everything need be dark and gritty.

Did they change how they film this? I felt like I was kind of watching them as they filmed.
