The Dark Knight Does anyone have any concerns about the movie....

I'm writing Batwoman into the script.

If we could get the thread back on track, I'd say my biggest concern is that Nolan in his crusade for realism and plausibility has brushed aside the Joker's playful side and concentrated on his insanity. What I mean is, apart from the Joker acting crazy, he doesn't have his other stuff, like the acid-throwing flower, for example. Isn't it in one of the trailers where Gordon says "Nothing in his pockets but lint and knives."

It's acid lint

agreed, its good & all having a more plausible story but its taking the fun/coolness out of Batman, or what little he had anyway. And please don't tell be riding around on a fugly Bat Pod is cool.

Also everybody keeps saying its a more realistic vision, first off just think about some of the stuff that happens in BB, hardly realistic. And who cares, might be that Batman doesn't have superpowers but in the comics his stories aren't all realism bull ****, he lives in a city, a world, a universe surrounded by unrealistic stories, heroes/villians with superpowers so I've never bought the realistic vision BS, though not to say they aren't bad films, hell they are great.

These are the most fun and coolest Batman/Superhero films out there. The Bat pod is is all kinds of awesome.

It is realistic, realistic in the way it handles its fantasy. They are the best batman films :woot: . This is just one artists version of Batman... there are many other versions to choose from in other mediums so quite bitcking that this version isn't the version you like the most.

Christ, Batman was a cyborg in one version.

My only concern is that I won't be able to catch the movie on opening night :oldrazz: Just 2 more days!

Someone's going to have to explain to me why they think The Joker has lost his "playful" edge. It's just a different kind of playful. With rockets and so forth.

In Australia, we had special preview screenings of the film on 14th of July.

Any concerns you have about the film. Forget about them okay? Personally I found the film very very enjoyable. I've read a few of your concerns... and well... and based on my reaction after seeing the film, I can assure you you really have nothing to worry about.

The Joker not being playful? Simply that didn't want you to see some of the really enjoyable Joker scenes. Also, on the Joker, the white make up... it stays on.. if you think his make up wears off a little based on the trailers (if you have spent time looking that hard), then you'd be right.... but it's due to sweat and yeah.

Okay, so, based on a fan boy reaction to the film... it's F***ing amazing.

(Yeah.. I'm new... big deal)

i wonder why they did an advanced screening in australia....i would understand for wolverine, or the new baz luhman flick...buy why tdk?

myspace Australia run black curtain screenings for various films in major cities over here..... and I guess TDK was an obvious choice......

The Joker's original appearance didn't have any acid flowers or gags. He only had guns and knives, and the Joker venom. The venom was the closest thing to a gimmick he had. And the only time he laughed was when he thought he was dying. Heath's Joker is nowhere near that serious. He laughs when he's driving his slaughter truck and throwing Rachel out the window, he goofs off at the party, and he goes to the hospital dressed in a tacky nurse's outfit. And then there's the whole pencil trick thing, which is pretty funny in a very twisted way.

Considering where you're making this post, nice trolling.

Batman Begins was never meant to be realistic. Nor was TDK, really. They are meant to have a more realistic tone, and that's all. Think Blade Runner. Realistic tone, but still very much a fictional world. That's what Nolan was going for all along, which is why he had the crew of the movie watch Blade Runner before they began working on the film. Really, if Nolan thinks Batman and his vehicles could do all the things that they do in these movies, he's an idiot. But he obviously knows better than that, and I do wish people would stop exaggerating on the whole realism issue.

It’s trolling by thinking or saying the batpod is fugly? Pssh! It is fugly! Guess that makes me a troll too. :whatever:

I think the batpod is one of the most awesome bat vehicles to ever appear on the big screen. But that wasn't what I was talking about. I was talking about this BS:

"agreed, its good & all having a more plausible story but its taking the fun/coolness out of Batman, or what little he had anyway."

Maybe it's just me, but I consider it trolling when someone goes to a board swarming with fans for a certain character and pretty much insults that character.

A few weeks back, when I read in some of the first TDK reviews about the way the Harvey/Two-Face character was handled...I must admit, I didn't really believe it at first. But now that the reviews have been pouring in, it seems obvious that a certain something happens near the end that I simply didn't think would (and am still a little surprised by), and a few around these boards will be pleased to know I have eaten those words. Gladly, the consensus seems to be that the storyline is handled in a very respectful manner, and hopefully this is the case, as it is probably my biggest concern for the movie...
