Does anyone like the idea of Hulk getting bigger with anger?

I personally liked it. The Hulk is supposed to be the strongest entity in the Marvel Universe, and he is unstoppable with his rage. This is why other guys like the Thing can't beat him, because the angrier he gets the stronger he gets. it's exponential.

Its not right to make him King Kong size though. It looked bad and was totally inconsistant anyway. Getting shot at made him grow, but a shot from a tank didn't? C'mon, that is bull****.

Hulk growing the more angrier he gets is a natural extention of the main idea of a puny man becoming a huge monster anyway, so I've always been fine with that part of the original hulk film. It's not like he became a giant, just really big.

You know I used to love him growing. When you see him standing next to Betty at the Cabin and he is over 15 foot tall it does hurt him interacting with People and such. Maybe it would be cool if he did get a little bigger but getting up to 20 feet and such is to big. I do wonder about him throwing Tanks now though, will he be a little Hulk throwing them, it would be weird.

Alright.

there are two things here.

There is a conversation about the concept of the hulk growing again with additional anger..

there is also the size limit to which he grows to.

Another member said he should grow during peaks in his anger to get certain tasks done and then revert back to his standard hulk size. Fine.

A lot of people are also complaining about his size in ang lee's film. That is somewhat regardless of the topic as potentially, the only problem here was the interaction with betty. However, i think there was a specific reason the hulk was this size around betty and it was done to mimmic the dream she had about bruce picking her up as a child and then strangling her. Someone she loved picked her up and hurt her while in this case a monster picked her up and helped her instead.

Ok I am happy with the concept as long as there is some upper limit to his size (or an upper limit to the range of strength feats we see the character do).

I am also happy with his linguistic skills becoming worse the bigger he gets and his ability to reason also leaving him, so you have a more caring communative hulk that just wants to be left alone being smaller and then you get this massive all destroying force of mindless chaos larger hulk.

I would say that perhaps what people who didn't like the concept would like was perhaps a more graded transformation with him not changing sizes so quickly between stages.

Also with the matter change, shifting his upper 'majority' maximum size (with this likely to increase for a short time with larger tasks) to a lower value would also be acceptable.


IN fact, there are plenty of ways to keep the 'concept' while keeping it separate from the way ang did it.

Just look at the millions of ways the concept of spiderman has been done over the years while significant changes have been made to the character, his powers and the way he's been portrayed in film,cartoons and comics.

True, it's more than just a stretch to compare Hulk to kong...

To me it;s like when people are comparing Hulk to Shrek...
There's no particular similarities (big green monster ok, then what???) it's just a way most aof the time to express "how much they dislike the movie".

It's easy to go like, "it's stupid big like kong and green like shrek, grrrr, i hate Ang lee, bladi blada....) instead of actually making points of why the size was a problem or not, why the color an issue, etc....

I don't really mind the idea of Hulk growing size, as from an artist to another, he easily cahnge from 9ft + to 15 ft +
But i have to admit that it has to be consistant if done in a 2hours movie....
But then, going to the route of veins, and tense muscles and etc to show the anger, thus exponentianl increase of power might be a more subtle way of showing things.... (who wants the Hulk to be subtle??)

No. I like TIH's approach of Hulk growing to a fixed size and maintaining it. No Kong-Hulk for me thanks.

Again I think the Hulk should be somewhere around 7 feet tall. In my opinion it would be cool to see the Abomination slightly bigger than the hulk. Not much taller but maybe 6 inches or so. And the Hulk would not grow he would stay the same size. When he fights the Abomination it looks like the Abomination is clearly stronger but the madder the Hulk gets the easier he can go toe to toe with the Abomination and them surpass him in strength. If he grew to King Kong size (yes I am exaggerating) it would not seem right to me. I don't want to see the Hulk smaller than the Abomination and then grow to 1 1/2 times the Abominations size. I don't think it would work right for the movie. To me the fight between the Hulk and the Abomination should be like (forgive me for this) Rocky IV. with the Hulk being Rocky and the Abomination being the Russian. Rocky (Hulk) takes a beating at first but gets mad and comes back and wins. The growing is not neccessary.

It was not stupid... it was realistic. The nano-meds answers to frustration(interpretated like a physical damage) producing new cells... then there is the physical growth...

The nano-meds were the means to an end. Notice, he only got bigger when under circumstances he couldn't immediately overcome. It made sense, but it's way to open-ended an explanation.

There's also the various artist interpretations of the Hulk at different heights. I'm sure we've all seen an issue or two where the hulk is just short of Mighty Joe Young height.

O.K it was a figure of speech ppl. Don't take everything so literal.

And all you nano-med geeks, answer this; yes the nano-meds made him bigger to respond to physical damage. That made sense. Why then was he still big when he went to see Betty, after he had somewhat calmed down? It's similar to how when you body build, your muscles go through a period where they become thicker and bigger to cope with the additional weight your lifting, but once you stop lifting weights, your body as a form of being ecomonic, atrophies your muscles (makes them smaller) because the stress you were putting on them is gone, therefore they have no reason to be big. The same should go for Hulk in that scene, no..?

Regardless of the reasons why he grew, it is still and never was part of his makeup. Period! It looked ridiculous when he grew and even worst when he was towering over Betty. It was also ridiculous that he got tired from fighting three dogs. What's gona happen when he throws down with Abomy? Is he gona take a nap widway because he's sleepy? Nuff said

Do you really want me to go through each and every comic book movie and pick out aspects of the characters that weren't part of their makeup.

he grew twice in the movie, big whoop. It's quite clear his growth throughout the film isn't even, i.e. same rate of growth in all areas, so this was then shown again during his growth outside of his house. This can be attributed to the nano meds working on individual locations at once and unable to do it all at the same time. No big problem there.

This thing about him being 7 feet is outdated. He was 7 feet in the 60s, and in the comics today he is somewhere between 8/9 feet. I think he should stay at 9 ft and just seem bigger and his muscles more strainned the angrier he gets.

He never really physically exerted himself during those fights, there was never any real sustained drama/conflict and it all seemed to come from a similar location unlike the dogs which had him rolling and so on and so forth. Besides more than likely it was his first battle as the hulk so just like stated with the jumping, he's unaware of his limits strength and stamina wise at that time.

It's personally reasonable for him to be somewhat exhausted.

The bullets don't harm him, they richochet off him. if he was continually getting hit by shells from the tanks that would be another thing entirely. Tank shells and mortars did slow him down and his breathing did deepen with contact/close contact.


Also I haven't insulted you in any shape or form, if you are unwilling to put together full proof reasoning and you get offended when obvious holes are noticed, then that is your fault entirely. Please get back on topic with my spidey 2 comparison.
