Does Marvel have a problem with their villains? - Part 1

I think the MCU villains have been generally solid with some great ones like Loki, Kingpin and Vulture.

The real deficiency in my opinion has been the love interests.

MCU villains on par with the likes of Vader? Not even Jar-Jar could find that funny. That and the Star Wars films don't exactly have an expansive array of villains.

In the saga overall Vader was a very complex character, but in ANH he was basically just a menacing henchman of the Empire, very much the same type of character as many of the Marvel villains.

No, I enjoy a lot of their villains, and I don't really understand why so many people think they're weak. Sure, a couple of them might be; but most of them have great personalities and a couple are even pretty deep characters. There's only so much you can do with villains in movies, and I think Marvel's are fine. I'd put them on par with most of the Star Wars villains, including Vader in A New Hope.

Vader is one of the most iconic bad guys in cinema history. Sorry but marvel has nothing anywhere near that yet.

If we're speaking in terms of iconography and popularity I certainly agree that Vader is leagues above Marvel's villains, I was just pointing out that the role of many Marvel villains isn't really that much different than Vader's usage in A New Hope..which (in my opinion) isn't a bad thing at all. Pre-ESB, Vader didn't have a lot of development or depth and people loved him just fine.

Darth Tyranus maybe.
