This has to be taken seriously. Do whatever we have to. Come on people!

Written letters get more respect than e-mails. So go out and get a bunch of those 39 cent stamps and put 'em to use!

Jeffers is formulating his battle strategy (e-mail him; he's got a covert plan going on that could work wonders really fast), and a bunch of others are doing their part.

I doubt it will work wonders fast, but you'll feel kind of like a spy doing it!

newsarma is saying it's definatly cancelled after 100....angry email time

Someone wanna give me an idea of what to write in a letter? I'm afraid my anger'd get th' better of me an' I'd compare SG to th' crapfest that is th' main Spidey titles an' piss 'em off.

After many close calls, reprieves, and last minute stays of execution, May Parker’s luck has finally run out.

Marvel has confirmed for Newsarama that the long-running Spider-Girl series will end with issue #100, scheduled for August.

The character herself was born out of 1997’s What If? #105, which looked at the Marvel Universe’s future, and spawned its own sub-universe full of characters, called “MC2.” Due to strong fan reaction to this future version of both the Marvel heroes and their children (May Parker is the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Parker) Spider-Girl launched into her own series in 1998, along with J2 (12 issues, 1998 - a younger version/son of the current X-Men baddie/former member, Juggernaut), A-Next (12 issues, 1998 - the next generation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes: Jubilee, Stinger, J2, Speedball, Thunderstrike, Mainframe), Fantastic Five (5 issues, The Millennium’s Greatest Comic Magazine featuring the adventures of Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, Lyja Storm, Ms. Fantastic, Ben Grimm the Thing, Franklin Richards, Psi-Lord, Reed Richards, Big Brain), Wild Thing (#0-5 in 1999, Wolverine’s daughter), The Buzz (3 issues in 2000, Jack Jameson, grandson of The Daily Bugle’s J. Jonah Jameson) and Darkdevil (3 issues, 2000). All other MC2 titles eventually fell by the wayside, but Spider-Girl continued, and is currently Marvel’s longest-running series featuring a female lead.

For virtually its entire run, the series has been written by former Marvel Editor in Chief, Tom DeFalco, with art by Pat Olliffe, Ron Frenz, and Sal Buscema.

Since shortly after it launched, the series was on the brink of cancellation, and was saved a handful of times (though one save did require a price increase) by concerted efforts by fans. Most recently, the series saw reprints in digest form begin, which, reportedly, helped saved the series from cancellation for a time again, but in the long run, Defalco told Newsarama (see above link) didn't help as much as they could have.

As news of what was thought to be the possible, impeding (though now confirmed) cancellation began to bubble, fans at the Spider-Girl Message Board have again taken the cause to save the series.

I think it is for real this time. SG has avoided cancellation I don't know how many times, but it really can't go on forever. 100 issues is still amazing. How many new comics survives for so long today?

Gah!

Of course!

Once I actually start picking the book up, and reading the digests...

...THAT is when it finally gets the axe. Bah!

From spinning out of the What if... title, I would say that Spider-Girl was a succesful book.

Wow that was alot of letters, I'm beat, but before I log off I want to show everyone who has lost hope and is freaking out this quote from a few years back.

"The grassroots support from the SG message board has been fantastic. Those fans have managed to keep Spider-Girl alive. They never gave up on the title. Not even when Marvel canceled it and told me there was no hope of ever bringing it back. Spider-Girl lives because of her fans!" - Tom DeFalco, Spider-Girl writer

Return of the Hobgoblin and a centennial, this book ain't seen nothing yet :spidey:

I have the UTMOST faith that our efforts won't be in vain, but like Jeffers & Jarkoer said- how ever many letters we can pull together between now, and Thrusday will speak volumes to Marvel! I've spent a majority of my day composing letters, and i even contacted my 7 year old nephew- (whom i've sent SG comics to as well), to please write a letter. CK, i marvel at your confidence and faith that book won't be canceled, but support is defintely needed to end this crisis!

Don't worry Blaque buddy, I've done my part

25 Fake Letters
10,000 automated emails
20 extra orders at my comic shop

I'm still full of faith and confidence in the book but ......... worst case scenario at least I can say I tried :O

One letter from a 7-year-old is probably worth 70 letters from one of us.

I don't have th' funds to get extra copies, an' my shop's always empty when I go.

I heard that Spider-Girl is ending,i doubt that it could be saved.I think that SG was one of the few good titles that Marvel has these days. Its a shame.

Hi guys. It's been a while. I felt I should post here after hearing the bad news. This really sucks. I've been reading this title for years now and people at the Spider-Girl message board are trying to think of plans to save the book. I'm not going to say it's not possible after the save we made at issue 61 where Tom even wrote his final issue and the book was saved. I'm sending out a letter to Marvel as soon as possible to state my feelings about this book, and I hope all of you will do it as well.

Will do!

Anyone here post on the Newsarama messageboard? I want a response from JOEY DA Q. By the way, that's also his screenname. I haven't seen him online in a long while, but IM him about it if you see him (be NICE about it though, guys!)

Are you kidding? Last time we saved Spider-Girl on a month's notice! This time we have half a year to fight. Spider-Girl can and will be saved!

I'm in pretty good standings with the manager over at my comic shop, Altered States(How You Play The Game). Next time I ride up there(Soon) I'm going to have a talk with him. If I order out 100 issues, and tell him to give 1 away, along with a pre typed letter written by me(with some extra signatures for good luck), to every person that buys a comic in whatever pre determined date. If only I was still best friends with a goddamned drug dealer, I'd be able to afford buying a lot more. As it is I'm not buying any other titles, cancled my pre orders on 2 Medicom Spiderman relateddolls(running 150$ each) and can't really afford to buy the movie or so a week that I usually do. Oh, and I actually have to work at my job now.

well its been a great ride
Spider-girl you will be missed. At least we have a few more issues
Rip Spider-girl 1998-2006:(

It's true. I'm not going to give up on this book until that last issue is in stores. After what happened with issue 61 I believe it's never too late.
