Yeah, I find it odd that some people here would seemingly prefer to have Hannibal's senses fail him than believe that Will is making certain moral and ethical sacrifices in the attempt to bring Hannibal down.

I don't want Hannibal to look like an idiot. Besides, it's dramatically more interesting seeing Will push the envelope on every front to bring down Hannibal.

There were ways to get around it, but it'd probably be convoluted, like how they took and altered some type of non-human meat to make it more like human meat (which is what I was expecting). Not a particularly realistic explanation, but I didn't think they'd really have Will take that plunge.

What's odd about it?

Because when he does things like smell a corpse and know the person was in a cornfield, or smell Alana's hands and know she was at a gun range, along with the fact that this Hannibal has been established as a guy with a very, very refined palate, it seems strange to expect Hannibal not to be able to tell the difference between something simpler like his meats. Plus it makes Hannibal look less intelligent than he is, and this guy is the one who's supposed to be a hundred steps ahead of everyone.

Eh, well, Will is the more intelligent of the two, I think, so I don't see him fooling Hannibal in some unlikely way would be some type of slight to the intelligence of the character (especially since he's already seemingly done that). It's not a big deal, though, just unexpected to me.

I don't think Will is smarter than Hannibal, I think Will has the advantage of the blind spot of Hannibal's big old raging man-crush on him.

I wouldn't say Will is more intelligent than Hannibal at all. They're essentially equals, it's just that Will has now noted Hannibal's weak point of wanting to be his friend so badly (as he did in Yakimono).

Exactly. Hannibal isnt suddenly going to lose his senses and skills. He knows the difference between human and pork the same way I know the difference between pork and beef or any meat for that matter. Will ate human. End of story. Thats why Jack is so un edge about this trap and talking about how far he has stuck his neck out. If this ever got out to the public or the DA that he let a consultant commit cannabilism to entrap a suspect he would be fired and probably face criminal charges.

Yeah, I don't see why it's so difficult to accept that they would go that far since they're now well aware that they've all done it (Jack, Will, Alana) already without realizing it. I mean obviously, yes, it's all kind of messed up and if the wrong people found out they'd be in serious trouble, but to me its easy to see how they would rationalize it to themselves and believe the chance to finally bring Hannibal down would make it well worth it.

Man, that guy REALLY wants to be the Joker lol

Has anybody else had the thought that maybe Hannibal knows something is going on and up till now he's willing let it play out. We all new how confident he is in himself of
being smarter then everybody else. Maybe he has his own plans for Will and the FBI.

Well, I'm sure he knows something is up now. Alana arming herself is a huge tipoff.

Has it been established for certain that Jack knows Will ate human meat?

I like the fact Will ate human meat because it shows us just how far he's willing to go in order to finally bring Hannibal down. I'm not sure Jack would/is on that particular part of the plan though.

As to who is smarter, Will or Hannibal, I think they're both as clever as the other. Although this time around I don't think anyone can say Hannibal has the "disadvantage" of being crazy, because this version of Will is hardly the picture of sanity.

I still don't know why Jack told Alana anything. She is sleeping with the enemy after all. :( Unless she is part of it... which I doubt.

You guys really don't think Will is the smarter of the two? I'm sort of surprised. He figured out everything and almost got Hannibal once even when his brain was on fire. And now that he's got a clear head, he's completely played Hannibal as well as Hannibal played him to begin with. The only thing that may ruin that now is Alana.

That's not to say Hannibal is stupid, or any less smart, but I feel like almost the entire second half of this season has been Will besting Hannibal at his own game.

They really are more like intellectual equals though. Just because Will knows how to play the game now doesn't mean he's smarter than Hannibal. We still have two episodes left this season. We don't know what Hannibal is going to do.

I will be amazingly surprised if Alana makes it outta this season alive. Just got this feeling

I just don't think they'll leave us with the only major female character left alive being Freddie Lounds, lol.

Neither do I. Though I do wonder if they intend to introduce Molly in season 3.

Well, her show is cancelled, so... maybe.

I'm so curious how they plan to keep the same structure in season 3. How they'll be doing smaller cases while they're searching for Hannibal. God damn that **** is gonna be so ****ing epic. I do wonder how they intend to keep the Will/Hannibal dynamic fresh. There's gonna be **** tons of role reversals. It's just what this show does.
