Well it's 49% over Ant-Man's overseas OW. Ant-Man made $340m or so OS in total by the end of it's run. If the % holds then DS should clear $500m OS. Probably somewhere between $200-300m DOM and yeah, $700-800m WW here we come.

It's a matter of wanting quality to win out. I'm sure for some there's also the whole brand loyalty/rivalry thing going on as well. And being competitive is a natural feeling for many people.

Those international numbers are excellent.
I would be cautious though when comparing those numbers to Ant-Man, mainly because Strange is going to face a lot more competition in the coming weeks (and AM almost had 3 weeks of kids out of school to bank on, which is a lot more than DS and might explain its steady legs). Until we get an idea of how much this thing is going to make oe in the US and how it's 2nd week end drop is going to look like on international markets it's a little premature to make bold predictions like 700M (or 800M for that matter).

I've been looking up on twitter and local forums for people's reaction. They are mostly positive, even from people who don't normally like superheroes that much. I'd believe this to have strong word of mouth.

I think a lot of us would prefer the ones that suck to do poorly and the ones that are good to do well. I don't see the point in wanting a sucky one to do well. That will only encourage more sucky ones to be made(eg. the entire DCEU at this point). This is how we communicate our wishes to the studios, by voting with our $.

We don't necessarily want the movie that we like to do well. I've never watched SS and never will (because based on its RT I'll probably hate it) but I saw so many people were shamed for liking a harmless movie so I still root for SS to do well. OTOH I saw BvS on opening day (9 days before US release) and I hated it so much I just want SLOP to kick its off Top 5 WW.

Trolls LOOKS like a silly animation and is non-Disney but it gets 84% RT (and critics are usually harsh on non-Disney animation). I think it must offer something unique. Besides its major OS markets this weekend are only Russia, Spain, Italy and Brazil (no UK, Mexico, France, Germany)

Ant-Man killed over there. And DS is still blowing it out of the water. Should pass AM's Korea haul sometime this week. Probably finish with around $50m from there. CW made $63m so that's pretty good for a first timer/non-sequel

I think between South Korea & China DS should grab about $200m combined at least($50m & $150m respectively). Add another $200m DOM and then $200-300m from the rest of the world and thing are looking bright for the good doctor.

Damn, I didn't believe you and had to check the South Korea numbers of CA:CW and Wow. Did not see that coming.

I'm sure now that DS is going to post huge numbers from SK and the rest of Asia.
