Animation Dragonball HQ - Part 1

Listening to it now. He's totally lost once the action moved to earth, because he didn't follow anything that lead to this point in history. XD

Which i get. The movie's transition montage from the past to present isn't that great for newcomers. Sure we the DB faithful know what happens but for newbies...I can see where they would get lost.

Got my ticket for tomorrow night. Hoping the roads don't freeze while I am in the theater.

Honestly I think the Broly movie adaption could go anywhere from 12-17 episodes. I mean you could do at least 5 episodes alone set in the past.
Why do they keep adapting the movies in the actual Sagas. I'd prefer them to just move forward

Yeah but...forget em.

Like clearly they aren't making DB movies for the masses. This is meant for the fans. And I usually think that's silly to say, but for this movie it makes sense.
If you're not a fan I don't see why you would really like or even "get" this. Same thing for the Pokemon or Digimon movies.
It wouldn't even cross my mind to take someone who's not into DB to see this or any of the movies.

The Broly story is probably the only movie I'd want to see redone as a saga. Toriyama wrote a 3 hour script that had to be halved, basically. It's pretty noticeable during the first third of the film that there's a lot they had to sort of rush through, particularly the Bardock stuff, so yeah if they devote the first 10-13 episodes or whatever to expanding on Toriyama's story then I say go for it.

And now I am pissed. As much as I want to see the movie, there is no way I am heading out in this freezing rain to go see it. Hopefully the weather is better tomorrow.

I'd very much like to see Broly brought into the series.

Seems Toei Animation confirmed new episodes of Super from the NATPE licensing convention. No dates though.

Seen it but these two goofy ass nerds ruined my experience. In here as grown man doing air kamehamehas and super saiyan screams and punch sounds like some damn children.

Like they wouldnt sthu!!!! Definition of doing too much

I know what you mean I had some talkers my 1st viewing. Someone came by themselves and still talked and reacted to everything. He would say "Oh hell yeah" to almost everything, in the flash back scene "Where my Nappa at!? Where my Raditz at though?!" My 2nd viewing was great though no annoying people.

It was raining buckets when I went the 1st time. Not so much freezing but rain and wind.

Trust me, freezing rain is a tad bit more dangerous.

Did see it last night, it was MAXIMUM!!!

Glad you had a good time.

Its soo fun seeing the Collider and Screen Junkies crew talk about the Box Office and complementing Broly for its stellar #s (even if it was 4th over the weekend) when most of them don't know a thing about DB

Seeing an Over 9000 joke go over Dan Murrell's head was priceless

Considering the limited release it had, the numbers are pretty impressive.

I think if it wasn't a limited release it would have had a good chance of upsetting Pokemon 2K as the second highest grossing anime film in the US.

Than being said its current $24.4 million domestic is pretty darn good. I mean it only made about $31 million in Japan

Finally watched Dragon Ball Super: Broly today and while I did enjoy it very much overall some stuff is still bothering me quite a bit. Granted, I still haven't finished The Tournament of Power saga yet so maybe I'm missing something, but a lot of it felt kind of rushed IMO, especially once the actual story started moving and the stuff with Bardock could have been a bit more fleshed out than it was. I am still not sure how I feel about some of the retconning either considering how much I am so use to the old stuff even though I know most of it wasn't cannon to begin with. I did really enjoy most of the scenes with the saiyans at the beginning though, and the fights in this are pretty spectacular, especially seeing Vegeta holding his own against Broly. I do think I'm really going to like this incarnation of Broly going into the future, but man was the OG Broly scary as hell when he was powering up. This Broly didn't come anywhere close to feeling that intimidating, but I'm cool with it because I know they are doing something different.

Wait the Tournament of Power isn't the end? Wow where have I been. :funny:

Dragon Ball Super: Broli takes place after after Dragon Ball Super Episode #131. The series took a break back in March 2018 with Episode #131, likely so that the movie could have available staff to work on it. Movie #20 takes most of its main animators from the TV series, after all.

We also know from behind-the-scenes confirmations that a new series is being worked on since August/September. With the 2018 iteration of GeGeGe no Kitarou--the series that took Dragon Ball Super's timeslot--having episodes written to air in July this means that at the very least Dragon Ball Super will return in April, July or October with GeGeGe no Kitarou moving to the 8:30AM timeslot and Dragon Ball Super reclaiming 9AM. We'll see how that pans out, though, because I think it's also possible for GeGeGe no Kitarou to end broadcast in late September so that Dragon Ball Super can take back the 9AM timeslot then, which would definitely save the production schedule. My sources have indicated that Super will be returning in April, though, so I think we'll definitely see if that comes to pass within the next week.

I think the lack of marketing or mention of a new series will put it in July at the earliest.

Also can't believe there's a HD copy of the film available already.

I tend to agree but we should keep in mind that GeGeGe no Kitarou wasn't announced until January, three months before its broadcast. Typically, long-running series begin in April or October but the incredibly rushed Dragon Ball Super did begin broadcasting in July as a last minute change after the success of the 2015 film. Of course, the return of Super has been in production since three months before the movie came out, rather than the same month.

While not Anime/Movie news....tomorrow DBFZ adds Jiren and Videl (with Great Saiyaman Assit) (plus Videl comes with a Pig tails version too)

Jiren seems to be a bit of Hit/Broly mix while Videl looks like an Android 18/Yamcha mix from the gameplay i've seen

Broly has officially crossed the $100 million mark world wide

Well Funimation is cutting ties with Vic, so let the search for a new Broly begin.
