    Happy Independence Day, Guest!

Guardians of the Galaxy Drax The Man on the Sax: a Thread for the Destroyer - Part 1

Drax was funny Metaphors go over his head. HILARIOUS Batista rocked this role

MCU Thor vs Drax?

Where would you all place Drax on the strength charts, Cap level, IM level, Thor level, or Hulk level?

That's why prison break action scene was my favorite action scene since it showed super strength from Drax. They definitely need to show more of Drax strength feats next movie.

I think only really looked super weak and unskilled in a couple fights because he was going against Ronan. Against just about everyone else, he was making mincemeat out of them. If anything, his strength is at least equal to CA's but with a high possibility of it being greater. Too hard to tell without more evidence.

Yeah pretty much. But I think based on what was shown in the movie, Drax is a stronger than Cap. I havent seen Cap tear apart a robot with his bare hands.

After AoU, we'll probably be able to find out if CA can tear a robot in half with his bare hands. I'm doubting he will so Drax likely will come out on top in the strength department.

I'd rather Cap doesn't tear a robot in half with his bare hands anyway. I prefer him to use his strategic mind, skills, and of course his shield more than brute strength. Perfect example: Cap vs the Quinjet.

Yeah, but of course Steve could always wreck a robot with that indestructible shield of his. But yeah, strategy and skills too.

Also, when Drax was ripping that bot apart, was it firing on him? My memory's pretty sketchy but I vaguely remember some sort of ballistics effect going on in Drax's torso area. And he looked kind of pained.

So Drax is able to tank bullets? I'm pretty sure that's far above Cap then.

I loved drax. What a fantastic character. When he kept missing metaphors I thought it was great because it was fun to see someone great that people with aspergers could relate to.

I also love his mad cackle whenever there was danger and the brilliant way he could switch from comedic to dangerous was brilliant. I hope bendis gets him more now when he writes him

Yeah I hope Bendis adapts the literal minded Drax. Although in the latest issue, Drax challenging and getting trashed by Gladiator reminded me of Drax vs Ronan scene in the movie.

I thought Drax was the show stealer. I do hope he gets to show more feats of strength next time and possibly some type of upgrade from another alien in the sequel. I want to see him glow when he gets near Thanos. I had a huge smile when he said "Ronan was just a puppet, it's really Thanos I need to kill!"

The nothing goes over my head line was probably my second favorite line in the whole movie.

If I had to peg Drax's strength, I'd say its somewhere Iron Man-ish. Not only did he tear a robot in half, but remember that in the Ronan fight, several of the times he got launched created body-sized dents in metal walls, but kept fighting ( badly ). It just doesn't show as much, partly because Marvel hates giving strength feats ( ahem ), partly because lots of aliens are bricky, and partly because everyone tends to have energy weapons capable of threatening high durability opponents.

Which is to say, I tend to think that as portrayed, he'd give a decent showing than lose to Thor. To do better, I'd need either better evidence for Drax' higher strength level, or better evidence for Ronan's pre-Orb power level. Like, if it were made explicit that the Orb did *not* boost Ronan's strength and durability in any way? Then I'd buy Drax being Thor strong.

Dave really nailed the role. He was so funny with his deadpan delivery!

So I'm not alone in being shocked by Dave Bautista's performance. I thought he was going to be the weakest actor to an okay movie… he turned out to be one of my favorite characters in my favorite movie of the year so far!

Funny how life works!

Personally I just can't see him as Thor strong, at best I'd say Iron Man level.

Well Ronans pulse from his hammer broke the Others neck. Drax took one directly and kept on kicking at the least he has superhuman durability. I think they didn't want Drax strength to over shadow Groot. Groot seems to be Thor tier.

I'd still say he has a way to go to be Thor durability, but yeah Drax's durability was pretty high up there.

However Thor is a guy who tanked blasts from Odin's spear, Hulk's blows, 30,000 ft drops, IM's unibeam etc. I also wouldn't say Groot was Thor tier, he seemed about the same strength as Drax to me.

I am also not sure that I would want Drax to be Thor-level. I'd kinda rather most of the powerhouses reside somewhere around Iron Man level, guys like Deathlok and Luke Cage and Drax. I want Thor and Hulk to stand out amongst the heavy hitters.

Very good point.

I was satisfied with Drax's level, guys as strong as Thor and Hulk should come dime a dozen.

I can get behind that sentiment. I mean, note, being "only" Iron Man strong still means he's probably about as strong as an above average warrior Asgardian, like the Warriors Three.

Dude. Groot not only [BLACKOUT]survived a fall from a flaming spaceship that disintegrated on impact he was able to protect everyone by doing it. He was arguably the strongest being in the prison, took out multiple drones easily, and displayed a nice strength feat when he pierced a group of enemies and slammed them into the wall like they were nothing.[/BLACKOUT]

He is probably third strongest currently in the MCU

He survived that impact because of regeneration, that has nothing to do with his strength or durability.

Yes he did have some pretty cool feats, but nothing that put him about Iron Man catching cars or punching through concrete.

True, I didn't mean to insinuate that Iron Man was weak because he's definately more than strong enough.
