Ya, but he was the wise-cracking pretty boy waaaay before Sunshine. Then he got his chance to prove he could show a different side.
But you pointed out thats all he was known as before he became Cap, it wasnt, he had proven he could do serious, so Marvel casting him was no big shock like you make out it was.
Will that be included in the script? I have to see how it was emoted in the comics to understand if he can or cannot accurately portray a scene like that.
I just think the level of expected "dramatic tone" is overstated for these MCU films by quite a few people.
Should we not expect a bit more of a "dramatic tone" by now? Marvel is apparently ready to take a few more risks now after Avengers, one would think making their movies a bit deeper would be part of that.
As for the script, I dont know whats in it, I doubt Moondragon/Heather will be a part of this first movie, but we could very well see it in the future and I dont see Bautista being able to pull it off. Or any emoting of any kind for that matter, and despite what people think, Drax does emote.
AWJ, do you think there was anyone on the production of Sunshine worried about Evans' acting ability and his ability to deliver the lines because at that point he'd only played wise-cracking pretty boys? If there was any doubts, he was nonetheless given a chance to prove he could show a different side, as Rock says. Just as Batista may have gotten his chance in this.
Evans was known as a more comedic actor, yet in his roles he had done dramatic scene's and done them pretty well, so no, I dont think they were worried much and if anything they were happy to have another known actor in the cast.
Everyone deserves a chance and I trust that the powers that be have enough experience between them to have seen something in the guy that makes them beleive he's capable.
See IMO BB not everyone deserves a chance, there is a reason Bautista isnt some acting master at his age, and there is a reason he has only had 3 film roles in movies so far. He simply isnt a very good actor.
As a fan of the character that is Drax, I expect more than a former wrestler who has barely acted before. Again him being cast also has me very worried about the Drax we are going to get, if they cast a former wrestler in the role I doubt they expect him to act or even speak much, and that isnt Drax, not the one I know anyway.
I am also not one of these people who think Marvel can do no wrong, and IMO they have done things wrong already, but I think this will be their first huge mistake. If Bautista proves me wrong, I will more than happily eat crow, hell if anything I want him to prove me wrong. But at this point I have zero confidence in that happening.
