I wonder that it's even a question. He'll be green completely green as Drax. It'll be easily covered up my makeup.

I'm happy for Bautista in general. He comes from a diverse ethnic background (Greek and Filipino) which is rad. Not a lot of Filipino-American actors out there...besides the immortal dude who plays RUFF-IIII-OOOO! I swear that guy still plays teenagers till this very day!

Met Bautista like 5 years ago in Arlington. He wandered into an off post bar we used to hang out in with some of his buds. I'm not into wrestling so I didn't know who he was, thought he was Navy. Cool cat. Very quiet and intense but with a big laugh. Told some raunchy jokes that had us all reeling. He doesn't have charisma like Johnson does but he has a unique presence. Heard he had a brutal life as a kid, always sympathize for people like that.

Considering how nicely surprised I've been by Marvel's occasional curve ball, it's hard for me to not to look forward to seeing his portrayal. It's definitely going to be different from how I expected Drax to be.

agreed. I literally just finnished watching House of the Rising Sun. It was on TV, he wasnt horrible

Just as long as you're okay with the fact that that effectively makes you his Khaleesi. :o

You watch what you say about her, she's Blood of my Blood! :argh:

She's Queen of the Dragons, but I'm the Dragon of the Queens.

I'm gonna go with the known quantity Emilia Clark. I mean, I've seen her *******.

That's a pretty cool story.

The horrible childhood thing is interesting...not to be too exploitive or uber-serious about a space opera film, but perhaps he can tap into that for his Drax performance.

Back on topic, I think Batista will surprise a lot of people. His wrestling character was always kind of a subtle "man of few words who can back it up" kind of guy; usually he was the tank enforcer for a more vociferous and outgoing lead character, but he was never the dumb muscle, and always gave the audience the impression that most of the time he had a better read on the situation than his leader did.

No joke, I just really like this Batista promo

At least Drax didn't get Tophered. Batista is legendary for his facial expressions (although they'll need to be toned-down a bit) and he certainly has the look.

Haven't really noticed anyone being '********'. Some have their misgivings and that's perfectly natural but it isn't like they're having riots. Reactions has been pretty tame. Get a grip.

Agreed :word:

Yeah, Batista will do just fine for the role. It was never intended to be a dramatic stint, despite the fact that some people in this thread have come to the conclusion that Drax was conceived in the comics as a Shakespearean tragic figure.

And it's not like Drax ever had the fanbase that Venom had. When Venom fans felt slighted by Topher, there were literally millions of 'em up in arms. With Drax, even in the comic-book geek community, it'll be more like: "Drax who....?"

Now when it comes to the casting of Groot and Rocket's voices/mocap, I'm sure there will be just as many fanboys up in arms if they don't get who they want.

I'll be honest when I say that this is the first casting choice by Marvel that concerns me.

But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since if Batista wouldn't be able to pull it off, I doubt Marvel would've cast him.
