E3 2011 - Part 2

I think the Wii U is a step in the right direction, but Nintendo needed to jump. I mean the PS3 doubles up as a gaming and Blu-ray player and Nintendo is barely playing catch-up at this point. But aside from the controller, it's not really doing much to standout against the competition.

They're going to have an uphill battle with that controller for hardcore gamers. They'll probably never convince FPS gamers at all with that thing.

I guess the concept of not having to pause the game to look at my inventory, or no need for an onscreen mini-map could be interesting. It's still a dice roll.

I put FPS players only slightly below Soccer fans, on my can't stand scale.

I wonder if Nintendo will release a regular size controller without the screen. I think theres a strong chance they will

I'm pretty sure they already have. It's called a Wiimote. :oldrazz:

If it's opposite day. FPS gamers are everything that is wrong with the gaming market today.
wait are you saying people who play FPS' or Hardcore FPS'ers?

I Play FPS' but i also Play Fighters and other genres of games as well

Hardcore FPSers who think all there is to gaming is Call of Duty, Halo, and Battlefield mostly.

One can be a hardcore FPSer and still love other non FPS titles. That's a giant generalization there.

If anything the casual player is what's ruined the FPS genre. Call of Duty being the proof to having kiddified/baby perks and killstreks promoting idiotic shenanigans to ensue.

Yea i dont think FPS' are the epitome of gaming but i enjoy them alot

I Play Black Ops alot...and before that i played Halo Alot they are really fun games especially the MP

Once you've played one fps you've pretty much played them all. Yet there's a new FPS series that tries to start up every year. It's kind of dumb as hell.

Pretty much.

In my day, all casual and hardcore meant was how many games you played. Casuals played less, the hardcore more. The big games now cater to people who don't branch out.

i dont agree...Halo Plays nothing like the COD franchise nor does it play like Crysis or Battlefiled or Rainbox Six or Ghost Recon or Borderlands or i could keep going :o

It basically comes down to "You like to shoot things? Well here's a new game that lets you shoot things!"

I gotta agree. Im not big into FPS anymore but when I was a few years ago, my 3 faves on the PS3 were COD4, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2. 3 very different shooters which each had their own strengths and weaknesses while bringing something different to the table

the only FPS game i'd go out and buy is if they made a sequel of Area 51

You're forgetting the video game industry is a business. You know, in that their main goal is to make money.

The FPS has become a competition about who literally has the biggest gun.

Watching right now, and I have said this time and again, but Andy Allo is insanely hot.

I'd mainly pin that down to the popuality of console gaming.
Likewise with RPG's, look at Dragon Age 2. I believe Skyrim doesn't even have class system now? it uses perks like the Calls Of Dutys.

People probably should stop attempting to pin "casual" badness down on Nintendo though. It's the Xbox360 that has taken a pc mentality and watered it down for a mainstream audience. Ninendo has always been fairly casual and kid freindly, nothing has changed in that regard other than a innovative motion control. Which the Xbox360 spend most of it's E3 show attempting to rip off.
