I've seen theater lineups like this for Friday:

1 theater for Chipmunks
1 to 2 theaters for 2d Force Awakens
5 to 6 set up for 3D.

So theaters will herd the masses into the more expensive IMAX and 3D theaters which should prop the numbers up.

Quick Question for all you Star Wars 7 fans from a BvS fan but does anyone know if SW7's box office can help out the BvS box office in any way? Like getting people more interested in going to the theatre the next couple of months for example.

Yeah, that's not exactly how box office works.

Batman v. Superman's fate will be determined by it's status in pop culture, and how the public responds to it. Not by Star Wars. It's not exactly an indie movie that needs buzz by riding the coattails of other films.

Wait..i don't see the correlation.
I don't either. They are two different films coming out at two different times.

I don't get why DC and Disney fans keep connecting these two movies(the back and fourth from two friendly directors doesn't count as a reason)? They aren't even being released in the same calendar year and are 4 months removed from one another.

Even though I don't like it I can get the connection to Civil War because they had the same release date at one time, their release dates are still decently close and they have story similarities. Star Wars is not going to be a factor in March 2016, it's not going to still be number one a week before BvS comes out.

I have to thank you because I didn't realize that I made a mistake.

When I bought my tickets for the Imax showing, I thought I got the seats up in the back. But no, it was for the front!

I called up the Chinese, and they were honest but diplomatic: They said due to the Imax screen, it'll be immersive. Maybe a little bit too immersive.

Luckily I was able to switch from Saturday to Sunday, with better seats!

I did that once only I thought I was in the front and was in the back. Luckily, no one likes to sit as close as I do. I'm down on the floor in the 8th row (I think), but in an aisle seat in the middle of the theater.

I'm hoping for this effect:

That's a really nice thing to do. :yay:

It was. Of course it's nuts (especially in the days of online ticketing), but they're fans and they're having a blast.

They lined up at the Ziegfeld in NY for a few weeks for the prequels. I had no interest in camping out, but I stopped by and donated to the collection they were taking for Starlight and hung out for a little while. They were an awesome group of fans - really fun to talk to, and I took a picture with a bunch of them.

My favorite line memory from the originals was opening day of ROTJ. The line was wrapped around the block, and the movie theater employees were going up and down the line to make sure no one out there had tickets for Blue Thunder, which was also playing at that theater.

The guy a few people back from us yelled, "Oh, GO BACK INSIDE!!" :funny:

Turns out there were about 5 people there to see Blue Thunder.

I work 3 blocks from that theater...I'm sad it's not a movie theater anymore.

So I hear that competitions gonna be mighty fierce for Star Wars 7.

FINALLY purchased my tickets! Thursday, Friday, Saturday and the first 3 showings for Sunday were all SOLD OUT! 10:45pm Sunday I got seats dead centre and 4 rows from the top. Best seats in the house, IMO. I'm glad I waited to find better seats, could have bought some in the front left corner on Friday and Saturday but I'd rather wait a few days and be comfortable. Been waiting since I was a little kid for this movie, what's another 2 days? :D

The Chips did okay and they opened just after Avatar and with Sherlock Holmes. Do not underestimate the power of little curtain crawlers to influence their parents. I don't even want to count the times I saw Lion King and Shrek......:cmad:

This is actually a thing, though also rare. Avatar made 3D a real thing and this led to a big boost for Alice. The big movies do apparently increase movie going, not just for their films, but in general. So it isn't an off the wall theory.

Oh I've missed that .gif

That's a pricey ticket. IMAX? 12:25am......were the other, sensible times sold out?

Sadly that's regular old 2D my friend. Plus an extra $1.50 for booking fee. so about $16.25 in US currency. :cmad: There were 6 sessions prior, 12.25am was the earliest 2D sessions. I ain't watching this in 3D.

I checked the prices off of ebay and they are immersive in price. Wow insane

I thought it looked familiar. Playstation Theater sounds even dumber than Best Buy Theater, though. :o

Yes it does. I haven’t been inside since they closed the movie theater. I never saw any of the SW movies there, but I saw Spider-Man on opening night, and it was awesome.

The movie theater was in such bad shape at the end, I heard that the seats were being dismantled even as the last movie was playing...

I'm thinking it's almost a given that it's going to gross over $1.5 billion worldwide.

If the general consensus is that it's a great movie, though, I really do think this will become the biggest money-making film ever.

I know TFA is now the highest grossing presale of all-time, but I'm a little confused by the previous record holder. Some articles say TDKR was at $25 Million but I thought the last Harry Potter was at $45 Million?

Also, I really do think that this movie will have some strong legs at the box office.

I know that a lot of people are actually waiting a while before they go see the movie, because they know how packed the movie theaters will be right when it comes out. Also, with a movie like this, it's obvious that people will go see it multiple times.
