It's a good thing it will make a lot of money. According to 60 minutes, the film needs $1.5 billion to break even

I don't think that is what they said. What they said it is that it is expected to make at least that, or be considered a failure. It's a good think it will make a lot of money. According to 60 minutes, the film needs $1.5 billion to break even.
Close enough.I don't think that is what they said. What they said it is that it is expected to make at least that, or be considered a failure.
I'm in the lobby waiting to get into the theatre. The buzz going around is unlike anything I've ever seen! This will be huge!
So movietickets.com is saying the presales have reached around $120 miliion, this was as of this past weekend...with the skyrocket positive reviews, expect another 90-110 million by Sunday...
Seems like it was on course to absolutely destroy even before these crazy reviews. No idea what happens now!
It seems most commentator expectations have shifted to this ending in Avatar territory domestically even if it doesn't beat and the reviews now turning out so well will likely have adjusted many of those expectations to be in with a decent shot at a beat. Overseas is a bit harder to judge especially in those countries that don't have the same history with Star Wars but it could explode with the global hype. As you say it's insane that Avatar's WW record with that big 3D era boost is even being mentioned which shows just how big this is.This has a very real chance at breaking Avatar's domestic record.
If it blows up worldwide then the WW record will also be in trouble which is insane.
But we don't know if that $120 Million is all for this opening weekend, right? How much are we looking at for this opening weekend domestically?
Why would people buy pre-sale tickets for 2 weeks from now?
Movietickets.com is saying $120 million for pre-sale tickets.
I think the crazy predictions were low. This could theoretically do a billion domestically if it wants to, for christ's sakes. It's up to the gods now.
I'm going to say:
$260 million Opening Weekend
$800 million Domestic
$3 billion Worldwide
Biggest movie ever in all categories
^ Sounds absolutely ludicrous and impossible, but screw it. I'm all in.
Rogue One?So it's pretty much guaranteed that no film is ever touching the December box office in a LONG time.![]()
). It's gonna make that in a few days haha.
