Easter Eggs (SPOILERS)

Damn... I missed the Oreo thing.

A couple little Smallville fun facts:
In the scene where Emil Hamilton is introduced, he asks his assistant to scan some area - said assistant played Hamilton in Smallville.
First time Clark is REALLY suspected of being different involves saving people from a vehicle that drives off of a bridge and into the water.
Zod's scientist is the same actor who played the deformed Lex clone in Smallville's season 10(?) premiere.
Amy Adams was in an episode of Smallville.

Yea In total we got 4 actors that in the past where from smallville

Mackenzie Gray (Jax-Ur) (Cloned Lex Luthor)
David Paetkay (Northcom threat Analyst) (Officer Danny Turpin)
Alessandro Juliani (Officer Sekowsky) (Dr.Emil Hamilton)
Amy Adams (Lois Lane) (Jodi Melville)

Did I hear Jor El say something about a "skull ship" while explaining the history of Krypton to Kal? I could've sworn he said something like "We sent out a skull ship but it was soon lost" or something like that.

Checked and sorry :( no skull ship was mentioned

Now i might have to confirm this when i see it again but when jor el was explaining kryptonion history they showed superman's spacecraft as the one from donner's version. It had the s logo but it had the stary spikes it looked strangly familiar but i might be wrong.

It noticed this too. I thought that was pretty neat.

Anyone else notices the Polar Bears? Damn Jon Peters always gotta have it his way! :p

I have it in Spanish so lets see if I can translate it
- Yo come from krypton
- A world with more hostel environment than earth
- A Long Time ago in an era of expansion
- Our civilization traveled to the stars looking for new places where we could settle
– This ship is one of the thousands we send threw space
– We constructed outpost in other planets using terraform machines to make those planets inhabitable for our needs
- During 100 thousand years our civilization flourished creating wonders
– A controlled civilization was established
- the outpost where abandoned
- We exusted our natural resources
– As a result the nucleus of our planet became unstable
- At the end our military lieder General Zod tried to over throw the government but it was to late
- your mother and I prevented that calamity from taking place and we ensured your safety

Christopher Reeve-Henry Cavill faces, when Superman is trying to destroy that machine (the World Machine was its name?) Am I the only one who saw that? Am I allucinating?

I mentioned this a couple of days ago and other posters noticed as well. I'm pretty sure it was this image of Chris Reeve for a split second:

Plus Clark hitching a ride to the Kent farm on a LexCorp truck is just too funny.

Focus on Zod and Superman when they're flying towards outer space. You're going to see Zod destroy a satellite...In the satellite, focus on the lower part of the movie screen, you should be seeing an upside down Wayne Enterprises logo.

I found it interesting that the logo is from the Nolan trilogy...

Gotcha. I do remember that exact scene so I'll keep a better eye out next time.

They only place I saw a LexCorp logo was in the truck that was destroyed and split when Supes and Zod were fighting. It looked intentionally placed and very obvious.

Can someone specify for me where the Wayne Enterprise logo is exactly? Seeing it again tomorrow, so I'll be sure to look out.

Man of Steel Cameos and Ester Eggs

Krypton:
1. Krypton destroyed Moon (from the comics by Jax–Ur)
2. Cloning of Kryptonians (from the Man of Steel mini series )
3. Kalex robot (from the comics)

Smallville:
1. Lana Lang (comics)
2. Pete Ross (comics)
3. Whitney Fordman (smallville)
4. Kenny Braverman (comics)
5. Sullivan Shop (maybe from Chloe Sullivan)

The Fortress of Solitude (Aka scout ship)
1. Superman’s key (from the silver age comics)
2. Jor-El's hologram (from the man of steel mini series)
3. The 2 statues in the recreation of krypton (they kind of look like the two statues that superman has in the fortress from the comics)
4. The opened pot in the ship (Kara's pot from the prequel comic)

Metropolis:
1. The reference to Blaze Comics (Booster Gold)
2. Wayne's Satellite (Batman)
3. LexCorp (Lex Luthor)
4. Man eating a Oreo (Martian Manhunter)

Prequel Comic:
1. Kara
2.The Thanagarians

You also missed the way they imprisoned people in the phantom zone. Although it was more fantastical, there was still that 2-dimensional polygon shape that they were trapped in (a reference back to the Donner films). The robot was named Kelex (a refrence back to the John Byrne era). The film also seemed like they got some influence from Akira Toriyama's Dragonball manga series. There were refrences to how Kryptoninans would go to other worlds and take them over (very similar to what the Sayajins did). One of the Kryptoninans was called Nam-Ek, which could be a reference to the planet of the same name in that series. There was also one scene in the climactic battle with Zod that was not unlike what happened during a fight with Goku and Piccolo or Goku and Vegeta (Zod removed his heavy armor so that he was able to fly and fight better).

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and there was kryptonite in the film. It just wasn't the green rock that we are all too familiar with.

2 more:

Chad Krowchuk (Woodburn) played Wendell Johnson in the 4th season (Forever) where the FotW preserves the highschool/yearbook people.
Tahmoh Penikett (Jed Ubanks) played Vince Davis in season 3 (Resurrection) AND Wes Keenan in Season 6 (Prototype & Nemesis).

The military woman at the end who says Superman is hot was named "Farris." It's not "Ferris" but it is close...

Where was the Kryptonite?

You have to look at the definition of the word. There are two definitions of the word kryptonite. The first describes pieces of the planet Krypton that have become radio active. The second, which has become a modern day colloquialism is anything that is your weakness. In the film, Supeman's connotative kryptonite was the actual environment of his home world. Once he was immersed in it, his body (as a result of being on Earth for more than three decades) would reject it (as to why he was coughing up blood in one scene and choking in another). It wouldn't kill him, but certainly over time, he would become mortal.

While that is right in regards to MOS, I didn't see it as a "new" kryptonite but more an introduction to the real thing if it's introduced in later films.

They are talking about the Kryptonian atmosphere, but that isn't an easter egg.

An Easter egg is in intentional hidden message in a story or a film. The Kryptonian environment was Superman's weakness (or kryptonite) which was a subtlety (i.e. a hidden message or Easter egg).

I can't agree that the Kryptonian environment is damaging is an Easter Egg. I'd say it's more likely to be foreshadowing of the damage actual Kryptonite will do him in the potential sequels. Plus, I think Easter Eggs have to little, decorative things, and this was too big a part of the plot.
