Then why not just watch an Edgar Wright movie? Why does it have to be in the MCU just for the sake of it, especially if you don't seem to care about any of the characters? But if Edgar Wright is going to be in the MCU, then he has to adhere to certain templates and house styles set and not do something that is so incongruent with the rest of it.
Or Wright could've just made up his own original character and loosely attached it to the MCU instead of using Ant-Man, who already has a fan base.
yeah, i get what you're saying. i'm almost conflicted the same way with Trank doing FF, but i wouldn't say it's a conflict, it's just the only silver lining to the stupid situation.
but with Wright, the reason why is cuz it would just make me happy, I think it would make a lot of people happy. In my head, i picture him nailing a whole perfect take on Ant-Man. bringing a certain personality to the character, becuz of the natural tone of his movies. I think it would've fit either a Pym or a Lang lead. but it just made so much sense to me. So sure, he could do the next Edgar Wright movie and god bless him and Marvel can do their Ant-Man movie in line with their plans and god bless them. but an Edgar Wright Ant-man movie is something that would've been uniquely great for both of them I think.
I am an Edgar Wright fan so that is a big part of it, of course. But I think that's a valid reason to move off your blueprint sometimes. it depends on everything. and who knows what was going on with the details and how everything felt. Cuz things like what happened never really come out of the blue, i think. So it sounds like there was probably no way to pull it off successfully, anything at the point that he walked would've been not what people like me are wishing it could've been anyway.
but that's the reasoning for why, to me.
basically cuz it'd make me happy. haha. u know?
****ps**
and also, my post came off the wrong way.
I do care about all the characters, i just didn't care if they were in this movie.
if it was a conflict to the story in any way. i just wanted to see an Edgar Wright Ant-Man film, whatever that would've been.
I love MODOK, especially, and Egghead and Klaw, I care about them cuz they've been in comics and stuff, i wasn't trying to come off dismissive of any characters as not worth it for movies or bringing nothing. especially with villains, there's so much room in movies to take C or D level villains and reimagine and write them as great villains.
so that came off not the way that i meant it.
