Ant-Man Edgar Wright Leaves Ant-Man!! - Part 1

I care about getting the best movie possible. My biggest fear is that we're going to get a movie written by committee and not as good as it could have been simply because Marvel is so obsessed with setting things up for future films and neglect the film that they're making at the moment. I love Marvel and I haven't disliked any movie that they've made, but they've already made this same mistake with both IM 2 and TDW. Both films suffered by being essentially glorified set-up while TWS showed that you can do set up AND tell a good and compelling story successfully. We'll have to wait and see which way Ant Man will ultimately go. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that this sudden and unexpected turmoil has gotten me a bit concerned.

What I see happening is that marvel will never be able to attract good directors. In the same manner that the Bond films aren't. Which is very sad when you think of guys like Quentin Tarantino who have openly displayed an affection for the character and desire to be apart of the movie making process in the bond films.

Why are they making this movie? Why dont they make a female superhero movie or black panther movie? Antman has no major appeal, not even in comics is treated like a major player (yes he is an original avenger but now a days he doesn't figure much, just dropping in other peoples books)

His most significant accomplishment was the creation of Ultron, and he wont be even responsible of that now (Stark will take that, which actually makes much more sense).
If Marvel keeps this up, Paul Rudd will direct this movie, because now it seems like poison for competent directors.

Marvel should scrap this movie all the way, bring a captain marvel movie, she hulk, spiderwoman or any other female lead. Or a black panther movie, which is stupid by now that we don't have one, is Marvel afraid that white people wont show up to see the that? either way this movie is doomed to fail if they go along

Black Panther or Miss Marvel will get made. I think either are likely.

But when are they going to make those films is what I want to know? Are they going to go through every white male character before getting to those characters?

There are running out of them, or maybe they will try with ghost rider and punisher again now that they are back at marvel. They still have Nova, Hyperion, Namor and other white dudes to pick from, but those will be almost C or D list characters

Probably. Their might be an open slot in 2017 after Thor 3 and before Avengers 3 unless they decide to have (post Ant Man, if it happens) phase 3 shaping like this:

- Cap 3
- Dr. Strange
- Thor 3
- Avengers 3

Which is very possible.

I will bash Marvel Studios if neither happens. However, I could see Marvel trying to fix that by having a racially diverse group of actors as Inhumans.

jeez another Thor movie? does anyone really one to see another one of those? i hope you are wrong about that one, and they can squeeze a little more diversity there.

But we live in a world were ant man will have a movie before wonder woman
( I would like to talk to the genius at DC that thinks Metal Men would make a better movie)

A racially diverse group but still starring a white guy.

Unfortunately yes.

Marvel has to do either Carol Danvers or Black Panther. They will get a lot of heat if they don't. The black bloggers will be enraged if Black Panther is not leading his own movie, although I doubt that it will lead to a boycott of the MCU by the black community (which is what I think the black bloggers will call for if BP isn't made). The ones who support the female superhero might be placated if Crystal and Medusa are in the the Inhumans and later join the Avengers.

However, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are coming, so Marvel is well aware of a female led and a black led superhero project.

Thor 3 is coming because they already hired writers for it.

Oh ok so we wont see other characters at least until 2017, except for doctor strange. After 2017 the MCU will look very different, all the 3 main avengers wont be played by the same actors, and probably even the lesser avengers will be recast.

For James Bond it works, but if you recast your whole cast of superheroes , will that affect the franchise or are the actors more important than the characters?. Im very curious to see what happens when the time comes

There has been speculation that we'll see BP in Cap 3 for some reason. There really hasn't been any evidence that either BP or Carol Danvers are coming to the MCU except via rumors from people like Drew McWeeney, Devin Faraci and El Mayimbe.

So who exactly is left to direct? Looking more and more like D'Esposito is their only choice now.

I'm happy about the series provided they are better than Agents of Shield.

Call me old fashioned ,
But I am not even going to watch the Netflix shows unless they are rebroadcast on ABC.

It improved but I still think it could be much, much better. Still not appointment television for me.

Ant-Man was getting made (or planned on being made) Kevin Feige liked Edgar Wright and his idea of the movie. Kevin Feige went as far saying Marvel will break their two movie a year policy to accommodate Ant-Man and shaped their cinematic universe to fit Edgar's plans.

If Edgar had not dragged his feet so long this film might have even been Marvel Studios first movie so its not like Ant-Man being made had any detrimental effect on Ms Marvel or Black Panther being made.

No one at Marvel said because Ant-Man is being made they aren't making those other two films. Feige said Black Panther is similar to Thor in some ways which is why they were not in such a rush to get it made.

I think Marvel will probably announce a Black Panther movie for Phase Three. Kevin Feige said Black Panther was in development last year while doing press for Thor The Dark World and it is rumoured Marvel will announce their upcoming slate at Comic-Con this year.

I think their is a good chance Ms Marvel gets made if Guardians Of The Galaxy is a success. Marvel will want to expand the cosmic side of the brand and Disney studios boss says it has franchise potential.

I think 'fans' are slightly impatient Marvel studios has not been around that long and their primary focus has been to get the Avengers off the ground with franchises also for Marvels big three. Marvel has accomplished that and now they are focusing on expanding the MCU in Phase three and beyond.

Then you're not going to watch them. If you said "DVD" or something like that, then it would be likely, but they're simply not going to be rebroadcast on ABC. That's like saying "I'm not going to watch Agents of SHIELD unless it's rebroadcast on Fox." Why would it go on a completely different network?

Anyway, if the relationship between Marvel and Wright is at all amicable (which, at this point, I find unlikely), they should probably offer him the chance to propose a changed script that will make them both happy and let him direct the movie. The rewrite could be seen as a visual demonstration of what they were talking about rather than absolute requirements. It seems like they have time to give him the opportunity given that this is taking forever to work out.

Feige said that? When? And more importantly: why?? How the heck does he figure that T'Challa is in any way even remotely similar to Thor?

But, I would watch it on Fox.
I am not going to subscribe to Netflix just so I can watch a few programs .
