Just watching the clip sent me on a flashback and i was like "woah"

It's like she forgot to take the tape off from the packaging.
It looks like shes wearing a censorship bar.![]()
I'm more than likely the only one who's finding these clips entirely cringe worthy.
You might have a point, people might just be enamored with the idea of Watson as Belle and a new version of Beauty and the Beast.
Like that new line where she's referencing Romeo and Juliet that wasn't in the movie. I dunno, didn't work very well for me.
To me it looks like another Into The Woods.

Right. And you base the lack of depth of Beauty and the Beast on what exactly? This movie is 35 minutes longer then the original. It is clearly not a simple remake of the original. It is going to have more then a few new scenes. It has a few new songs in and of itself.I agree. The shots are too basic for a film trying to disguise its lack of depth and quality with pretty colors and a confusion of dance routines. For something trying to look so fantastical, it comes off as very cheap and made for TV. People will love it no doubt, and it'll make a ton of money everywhere, but they should've gone the extra mile to give it its own look, its own identity, and drive home the themes of the film much harder instead of relying on the safe route; a live action remake of the animated film.
I know ppl say things like "but it IS different because it's closer to the original story!!". But closer how? By 2 or 3 scenes? Literally everything else is the same by 90% lol. If this is what we're expecting from The Little Mermaid and Aladdin and The Lion King films, then that sucks.
So I am clear, you are saying it is too slavish, but if they are adding say, character work, they might be dragging it out?I think the problem is this film feels far more slavish to the animated movie compared to something like Jungle Book. It remains to be seen whether additional scenes will help or hinder the finished product. Stretching a plot out longer than it was intended can sometimes drag a story out, you only have to look at The Hobbit to see what happens when try and stretch out a story. At the moment those few clips aren't exactly showing something to me that screams 'watch me', if anything its making the animated movie look better.

The movie is tracking for $150m opening. There are a few people excited.This. I've watched the animated version a few times since the trailer dropped and it makes me love that more. Especially looking at how awful the Beast and the objects look. Not to mention animated Belle looks nuanced. Watson will likely over act at every scene.
I'm struggling because I really want to love this like I love the cartoon but everything about it is not working for me and I don't know of anyone else in real life or on other forums that is actually hyped about it.

Yes, and this one isn't. Why would Disney want another 30 mins of runtime just to have another 30 mins of runtime? It doesn't help the box office. It is a creative decision. Whether it is a good one, we shall see. But there is no real reason to think they didn't structure the film accordingly.I'm assuming you're taking what I'm saying too literally. Essentially what I'm saying is that the animated story was built as an 85min movie.
Honestly, this is just not looking good to me. But then, neither did Cinderella and I ended up LOVING that, so I'm still gonna give it a chance to surprise me.
