Fabian Wagner is the cinematographer.

Dang. I'm curious to catch up on GoT just from all the crazy buzz I'm hearing about this latest episode. I'm also curious to see Fabian's cinematography as well. :)

great work from Wagner on GOT

All of the horse actions were excellent for a TV scale filming. Some of the shots including aerial view of the battle were nothing new but extremely exciting. These battles were made with extensive green screens.

A lot, lot of green screens are involved:

The game of thrones colour pallet can make JL look EPIC!

Since I don't watch Game of Thrones anyone mind giving me a few episodes in which he was the DP? Just want to get a feel of what to expect from Wagner.

Season 4 - Ep. 6 and 7; Season 5 - Ep. 7 and 8; Season 6 - Ep. 9 and 10. Episode nine from the current season (6) is the stand out. Beautiful shots throughout the whole episode. Also has worked on "Da Vinci's Demons", but I don't watch that show.

The BBC show or the American version? I watch the BBC show.

He did the cinematography for Battle of the Bastards?!

*hype intensifies*

Any word on whether JL is being shot in film or digital?

I was going to say the same! The VFX vid is great to compare.
Very hard to taut you great cinematography when there is so much put in after the fact.:cwink: No doubt he needs to be able to work around all the VFX and all and set up shots accordingly. Just interesting to say...hey look at my filming of this actor turning fast against a green screen ...just find it humorous.:cwink:

BBC, the one with Bumblebee Cabbagepatch.

Can't wait for season 3!

I am hoping one of the episodes involves saving a rare PinWing!

Most likely film but I don't see the advantage of film on a shoot like this.

I am all for tradition and "art" but the "film" bias for a VFX heavy movie seems misplaced and make life harder for no good reason.

As far as I know, GoT is shot digitally as well. You can make things look epic in digital.

Snyder confirmed it was film on the set visit.

Depends what cameras they use. If Snyder is going for the big canvas and shoots with 65/70mm, that would be a huge advantage over what digital provides.

Though I know the Russo's are shooting entirely in IMAX digital via new cameras. Remains to be seen how well it holds up to actual IMAX cameras.

How are those new RED cameras? Thought they were equal to Imax?

Doubtful it's bit-for-bit on par with IMAX, it would've blown up the photography world if it did.

ARRI is still considered to be the superior company, and is in fact who IMAX teamed up with for the specialized camera the Russo's will be using soon.

Was just reading up.

Some of CW was shot with RED as well as The Martian.

Says the new ones are 8k. Not sure where this puts it but the Martian looked good to me graphically.

The airport fight in Civil War was shot entirely in IMAX digital and I didn't really notice the difference.
