The BBC show or the American version? I watch the BBC show.
All of the horse actions were excellent for a TV scale filming. Some of the shots including aerial view of the battle were nothing new but extremely exciting. These battles were made with extensive green screens.
A lot, lot of green screens are involved:

BBC, the one with Bumblebee Cabbagepatch.
Any word on whether JL is being shot in film or digital?
Most likely film but I don't see the advantage of film on a shoot like this.
I am all for tradition and "art" but the "film" bias for a VFX heavy movie seems misplaced and make life harder for no good reason.
Snyder confirmed it was film on the set visit.Any word on whether JL is being shot in film or digital?
Depends what cameras they use. If Snyder is going for the big canvas and shoots with 65/70mm, that would be a huge advantage over what digital provides. Most likely film but I don't see the advantage of film on a shoot like this.

Though I know the Russo's are shooting entirely in IMAX digital via new cameras. Remains to be seen how well it holds up to actual IMAX cameras.
Doubtful it's bit-for-bit on par with IMAX, it would've blown up the photography world if it did.How are those new RED cameras? Thought they were equal to Imax?

ARRI is still considered to be the superior company, and is in fact who IMAX teamed up with for the specialized camera the Russo's will be using soon.
