Comics Fans Who Continue to Buy. WHY?

What difference does it make to you whether anyone buys them or not?

because if people keep buying this crap, it sends a message to Marvel that it's okay for them to write crap.

if "the stories at the moment are not as good as many in the past", you have to protest with your wallet, not giving in, and not buying it.

or do you think they would've let the Clone Saga go if tons of fans hadn't stopped buying it?

By the way: A battered wife being compared to a comic book reader is the most exaggerated and crazy illustration I've ever heard.

But it fits the marvel zombie mentality like a glove.:spidey:

It was the fans who stop the insanity of the clone saga with their wallets and it will be the fans who will have to save Spider-Man again:spidey:

Who really gives a **** about who buys which comic?

Does it really matter? If I want to buy ASM, I'll buy ASM.

I'll repeat:

a) you need to read other stuff

b) no, Spider-Man, and Iron Man (Cap is the one closest to his real self in this whole debacle) aren't really like this. look back to the hundreds and hundreds of back issues to see who the real Spidey and Iron man are.

a) I was refering to the best comic books, not the best literature.

b) I agree with you. I'm saying its making me think about the real spidey's character. Civil War Spidey is not who Spidey's character is. I'm thinking back to previous issues before the Other/Sins Past/Clone Saga to who the character really is.

so was I. there are TONS of comic books out there that are better than this tripe. if you think current mainstream Marvel and current Spidey are the best, you should pick up Runaways, Invincible, Fables...

they're so much better it's not even funny.

then how could you possibly enjoy this?

Well, in my opinion, I think it's good. Spidey will always be my favorite. I do only read mainstream Marvel, basically. I'll admit it.

To each their own.

then how could you possibly enjoy this?

Because it's making me think. To think back to what the core Spidey character is. I just like it!

crappy Spider-Man aside, you don't know what you're missing.

specially with Invincible. it feels more like old school Spidey than Spidey does right now.

yeah, I don't understand the logic in that. at all.

but like you said, to each their own.

Sounding like a real Marvel Plaint with the preprogrammed Joe Q Sound bite to sell this horrible story.:spidey:

What is "Invincible"?

Title: Invincible
Writer/Artist: Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, Cory Walker
Publisher: Image

Invincible is the Eisner Award-nominated top selling Image book, created and written by Robert Kirkman (same guy who's doing The Walking Dead, Marvel Zombies, Marvel Team Up, and Ultimate X-Men). Here's the pitch from the back of volume one:

"Mark Grayson is just like most everyone else his age. He's a senior at a normal American high School. He has a crappy part time job after school and on weekends. He likes girls quite a bit... but doesn't quite understand them. He enjoys hanging out with his friends, and sleeping late on Saturdays... at least until the good cartoons come on. The only difference between Mark and everyone else is that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, and as of late, he seems to be inheriting his father's powers. Strange things begin to happen to Mark Grayson as he begins to develop superpowers. Luckily, his dad is around to show him the ropes, at least he would be if he weren't so busy saving the world all the time. "

But that's just the begining. Over only two years, Kirkman has not only developed Mark and his father into amazingly fleshed out characters, he's created a whole world around Mark that rivals the entire Marvel or DC Universes in variety and creativity. The twists are non stop, as is the fun. The plot is no holds barred, and you truly don't know what is going to happen next. The storytelling is top notch, and it is downright the best superhero title being published today.

Format: So far there's six softcover volumes collecting the first 26 issues. But the Hardcovers are the real bargain, as they contain three softcovers each, plus a load of bonus material, for cheaper than the softcovers. You can buy the volume 1 HC for an incrediblly low $23 at Amazon (softcovers they ask $10 a peice for). Buy it, and get hooked!

So anyone who doesn't agree with you or think like you is automatically wrong? Junior, you've got a lot to learn.

You're talking like a real battered woman. "I hate when my husband put me down and tell me that i will not amount to anything, i hate when he looks at other women and makes disparaging remarks about my weight and looks but you know what? I'm glad that he did."

You see the similarities between a marvel zombie and a battered woman?

Pretty scary isn't it:spidey:

if that's the best you have in what your definition of wit is, then i feel sorry for you.

Like J.J said, Fans are fans come rain or shine. They SUPPORT their hero regardless. Why do you think I still visit these boards after so-called travesties like 'sins past' or 'the other' (which I enjoyed for the most part!) ? Because I still love spider-man. that's all there is too it!

So what if he gains fifteen new powers? So what if he's married? So what if he had a clone running around? So what if his first love was revealed to have been unfaithful with his arch nemesis? So what if his aunt came 'back from the dead'? So what if he has new duds? So what if he's Tony Stark's lapdog? So what if he's changed?

We can't change what the powers that be decide to do?

Change happens....sometimes bad, sometimes good.

He is still Spider-Man.

That should be reason enough.

actually, fans are the ones with the balls to stop buying if the stories suck or if the character is being misrepresented. if the fans didn't stop buying, you'd still be feeling the effects of the Clone Saga.

Amen to that
