Fant4stic: Reborn! - - - - - - - Part 26

I heard of a podcast concerning two blockbuster films being helm by young and upcoming directors, but I can't remember the name of it. They said one film would be a huge hit that propels the young directors career, while the other will be a huge mess that ruins that director's chances at directing a blockbuster. Considering it specified young, upcoming directors, I assume they mean Colin Trevorrow and Josh Trank.

My two cents, I say Jurassic World will be the film that's a huge success while F4INO is the big mess.

Unlike some of you guys here, I'm not a huge Fantastic 4 fan, but like some of you, I'm not interested in this film and would much rather Fox just give the rights or strike a deal with Marvel.

With that said, the reason I think JW will be the hit and F4INO will be the failure is all in the marketing. JW is being marketed like crazy. That is a sign of studio confidence in the film. They have not been shy of shoving another teaser/tv spot every 2 weeks or something about that film. True that JW is releasing sooner, but even when it was 7 months away, we got to see more of the film than F4INO has.

While aggressive marketing isn't always an indicator a film will be good "Cough"Amazing Spiderman 2"Cough", it does tell us what the studio thinks of the film, and that they feel it's going to be a hit, while Fox is playing shy and holding back quite a bit in marketing of the film.
Agreed on all counts, and the podcast you are referring to is the Cracked podcast. I also heard it, and got told it "could be the other way around, maybe Jurassic World is the disaster you never know".
There is no doubt that this is a cheaper movie to keep the rights.
There's actually a good deal of people on here who have spent time arguing otherwise.

AMC seems to never have anything bad to say about F4.

They're huge Fantastic Four fans. AND they are super jacked and pumped to see FFINO. One of those sentences must be false.

Before the trailer dropped, they were very skeptical about it. It wasn't until after the trailer and Trank said that he is going a more serious/horror direction that they've become more optimistic.

I would say the crew was "cautiously optimistic" rather than "very skeptical" before the trailer reveal. And now every bit of info that brings FFINO further away from the classic source material gets them even more giddy with anticipation.

Based on bits and pieces I've seen over the past year, they know about as much about Fantastic Four as I know about women's field hockey.

Be honest, which of those fit F4? None of it does. Plus superhero movies tend to have a family target. This one seems to have tweens in mind. Not sure how that is going to work.

But, but, but . . . people who have a youtube video like it, that means it must be a good idea, right?

And this is supposed to convince us they're Fantastic Four fans?

:hehe:

Yeah, not surprising that Campea badmouthed it for months. Then, a few months before the film comes out, they're on the hype train. If he wasn't working for AMC,I'd like to know if he'd be so positive. (He's all but admitted AMC won't allow him to bash a movie until it's out of theaters)

Campea lost points for saying how there really aren't many FF fans anymore.

I consider myself part of the GA when it comes to F4. The trailer as generic as it may be, it has my money. But this is after expecting a train wreck, so it was a pleasant surprise.

That still sounds way too negative. :woot:

I can't listen to AMC talk anymore. They throw up to many straw dog arguments about this film, like how the first priority is to make a great film, and not to be faithful to the comics, and then they talk about films like Avengers, Dark Knight, and Spider-man 2 as being examples of great films that weren't necessarily "faithful" to the comics.

The only problem with their argument is those are three examples most would say are the most faithful to the comics, and also happen to be the most popular.

They're huge Fantastic Four fans who were reassured by a generic sci-fi trailer that in no way resembled the Fantastic Four? Forgive me for being skeptical.

But it's ok that you're looking forward to this movie. Stay strong. Don't let the haterz like me get to you.

They're movie guys more than comic guys (although I do think they're comic fans). That means they care more about a movie being a good movie than a good Fantastic Four film. To me, I think that explains the different reaction. I agree with them that the trailer was a technically good trailer. I don't think it was a good Fantastic Four trailer, though, which, to me, is just as important.

Enough with the *****ing about who is or isn't a "TRUE" fan from both sides....talk about the movie and not each other or I will get rid of all of you.

No offense but if all we do is hate, then why do you read this thread? It's like paying to go to a concert and then boo the guy off stage. No one is forcing you to post here. And besides, it's not just here where people dislike what's going on with the film. It's pretty much everywhere.

it's not a concert so that analogy makes no sense and secondly this the Fantastic Four board. Not the we hate Fox's Fantastic Four board so I think that gives every right to post here.

Last warning for everyone....stop the snarky talk about other posters or conducting contests to see who can be the most obnoxious....next one gets time off.

yeah I find that these guys are pretty much apologists for big studio movies (before they are released), especially the lead guy. That being said, he is admittedly wrong about the fourth Transformers movie. I watch this show from time to time and I find these guys to be sunshine pumpers (especially the lead guy). Its kind of a industry prop up show. AMC theaters own the show, so it's not like they are in the business of crapping on tentpoles releases that are going to take up a couple of thousands of screens.

It's actually a good show. I watch it every day. They'll admit when movies suck (Transformers 4, Jupiter Ascending etc.).

But it's understandable what they've said about the quality of movies.

They have a policy, if half of the crew like the show and the other half don't, they'll do a spoiler review and discuss it...same thing with a unanimous vote of approval.

However, if it's a unanimous vote of the movie sucking, they won't do a spoiler review and won't discuss the movie until after opening weekend.

And they talk about trailers a lot and how that relates to the quality of the movie. John Campea especially likes to point out just because a trailer is good/bad, doesn't mean the movie will be good/bad (which we all know).

If you like watching a general movie talk show, it's one of the better ones out there.

I wonder have Fox and Disney made some type of deal regarding the Star Wars digital downloads. 5 of the films will be available except the 77 Star Wars. Disney may have given them something in exchange for this.

There seems to be a lot of things that Disney has that Fox wants, including Xmen merchandise rights(which isn't happening)but maybe they will allow them to do a tv show(which I doubt would happen to because of them saying screw you with Galactus and SS). And like you said the Star Wars thing. Fox is playing hard ball with the wrong company. The mouse does not play to lose. The game is chess and he tends to be 4 moves ahead of you.
