Fant4stic: Reborn! - Part 35

The first time around was worse. Probably because of how naive many where. So many were full of hope, believing they were going to get that Fantastic Four movie they craved so much.

Yep. I think the 2004/2005 board wars were the worst. In fact, back then the nay-sayers were a small group and the majority of the posters here were on the positive tip. I was one of them. Remember how I used to post those "50 Things Going Right For This Film" threads...? Geez. So full of hope. So excited for the future. So naïve. :csad:

Now we're all jaded and s***. :cmad:

I'll say this: that's the most interesting this movie has looked. That new trailer at least makes it looks like stuff happens during it. Mara's wig is really, really disgustingly noticeable and some of the CG seems rough, but the rest looked at least mildly entertaining.

We all got some battle scars LS. I try not to be too jaded, too early on most things. But this film, I don't know. It being bad has just felt inevitable. The first trailer not being an utter train wreck showed me some life in the project, but it has been down hill since then imo.

Jaded.....jade.....jade is green.....Doom is greenish......we are Doomed....:csad:

I think I was jaded from jump this time around. The minute I heard that Michael B. Jordan was cast due to favoritism and politics I was like, "Caliph, incoming. Divorce thyself emotionally from this production NOW."

I knew then this was going to be a total cluster f***.

At this point I want them to just put it in theaters, let it die a quick-ass death, yank it, put it on wax and start talks with Marvel. Although if it bombs as badly as I'm expecting, Marvel may not touch this "box office poison" for many years again just to air out the stench from these last three films. :csad:

Yep. The thing is now, looking back on Jordan's casting, it couldn't have been because Trank thought he was right for the role. Trank clearly doesn't understand the Fantastic Four as characters. He doesn't get their world. Jordan is a great young actor, but that doesn't make him right for the world.

I think Marvel would jump on it, mainly because they want the villains. But that isn't happening anytime soon.

Weird that it looks like Doom is partly made of Kryptonite. I mean, wrong property Fox.

I wonder if they really did go back and changed his name back to Victor von Doom. And if so, how bad the ADR might be. I feel like they probably tried to fix all those little things with the reshoots. Try to avoid criticism on that front at least.

It's totally going to be like Teenage Mutant Turtles. Super duper obvious reshoots.

Doom's origin confirmed. He fell off this:

After years of living at the bottom of the ocean, he became sentient.

Josh Trank is imagining what the editing room was like as well.

It's truly a tragedy. All the fans have EVER wanted is this:

And yet this studio is insistent on giving us this:

And now this:

Now we're stuck with Dr. Radioactive Bile Man. We're actually regressing. I mean, WHY? Why the hell why?? :argh:

Boom, do you think it tops what we went through here in 2004? I think the forum fighting was a little worse then. Funny: so many of us didn't even show up for this production. Then again, many were banned during those 2004/2005 board wars, so...yeah. :csad:
I thinks things were a little heated the last go-around. I know I was a bit more invested back then - what with it being the first big-budget adaptation of the property. But it just kept snowballing from bad to worse.

Now? We're all so numb and desensitized by the previous experience that all we can do is sit back and laugh. "Oh look, there goes that Fox again!" But the bizarre nature of the production and marketing has been quite something to behold.

Thought this is pretty cool

I have read the ads.....I know it is some of the stupidest crap ever came up by an ad agency....I know the jokes are way too easy to make.....I'm saying control yourself.....just because something is so easy and begs to be made fun of, it doesn't mean you are required to do it. You can point out something's unbelievably bad wording and innuendo deserving content without taking it too far.
