Fox should have never green lit the project. They saw the script. They saw the production design. They knew things weren't looking good, but they pushed ahead anyway. Trank works for Fox. They're in charge and they put this project in the hands of someone who couldn't handle it.

Fox bears more blame for giving an incompetent director this much responsibility than Trank bears for simply being incompetent IMO.

Most big budget films are a collaborative process, and hardly reflect the vision the director initially had. Its Trank's fault for not being cooperative if these rumors are true. Remember, alot of money goes into these things, and they come out of the studios pocket, not the director. Fox wouldn't hand Trank free reign to a multi million dollar production, unless he was some Steven Spielberg/Nolan proven film-maker, which he has yet to be. IMO, this is a result of Trank not keeping his ego in check, and realizing he can't have all the control on this project like he did Chronicle.

THR has a story up. Apparently Trank's dogs really did do six figures worth of damage to that house. Also, reshoots were apparently still going on LAST WEEKEND.

Link? And if so, that is bad. Like really bad.

New article from THR. They confirm the house trashing. Kinberg and Hutch Parker had to basically direct because Trank was indecisive and uncommunicative, but he was on set and "directing" because of the DGA. The editor of Avatar has now taken over for Trank's.

Kinberg then told Kathy Kennedy everything.

FOX should make a film strictly about the behind the scenes drama making this film. Hell...I probably would actually go see that instead of this mess of a movie.

A Fox spokesman says the studio is “very happy with the movie and we can’t wait for audiences to see it” but acknowledges, “There were definitely some bumps in the road.”

Among those bumps: Trank has several small dogs who were left in a rented house in New Orleans while the film was shooting there. According to sources, as much as $100,000 worth of damage was done to the property. A source says the production considers any destruction of the property to be Trank's responsibility.

Citing Trank’s work on the 2012 found-footage superhero movie Chronicle, an insider says: “No question there’s talent there. You can’t do Chronicle by accident.” But Trank seemed “like one of these kids who comes to the NBA with all the talent and none of the character-based skills to handle it. There’s equipment he doesn’t yet have.”

Thanks for the links guys. Yeah, I am curious where those that acted like this was just rumors went. FF is such a disaster, it got him fired off of Star Wars. Kinberg couldn't take him anymore.

Those people are still denying reality. I've seen a couple on Twitter actually.

And just yesterday they were here so excited for those (bad) posters.

Who post here? So they think he actually left Star Wars of his own accord? Like in real life? They think all the trades are lying? It is clear why the major sites sat on this info. They were waiting for Lucasfilms to act. Once they did, bam.

X-Men fans, mostly.

The key takeaway from the confirmed troubles with FFINO - If your only reason for putting a film into production is to play keep away with the rights, you shouldn't be making the film.

So... let's recall the facts...

The director wouldn't do his job properly.

The studio is doing massive reshoots.

The cast has not read any Fantastic Four comics and doesn't seem to care to.

The cast won't say much during interviews, instead substituting awkward silence and dodges.

Instead of Victor Von Doom of Latveria we are getting Victor Domashev, angry blogger.

The film has been repeatedly described by those involved as "dark" and "grounded," but there's no mention of it being "fantastic" or full of "adventure."

... yeah.

Nah I'm talking about a couple of randos, though I'm sure there are people here who refuse to believe any of these reports and believe that he wasn't fired.

Shame on the people celebrating or laughing at this drug fuelled self destruction because they either feel vindicated for hating the movie from the start of because it fits in some sort of fantasy about the rights reverting back. It's just a movie. I hope Trank gets help.

I don't think they fired him, as it would have been a guild problem. But I think he lost final cut a long time ago. They have been working overtime to save this film Trank. I now feel bad for ever blaming Kinberg. I also feel bad for the talent involved. They cast some really fantastic young actors here, and they have been caught in a storm. At least Saoirse Ronan escaped this.

Did you see any of us "celebrating" Orci's Star Trek 3 exit when we learned of his drinking problem? No.

Given the Evil Square Dance of late (i.e. Tom Rothman going from Fox to Sony), does anyone the WB would be stupid enough to hire Trank for their already wonky DCCU?

I look forward to Michael B. Jordan playing Hal Jordan, who's magic do anything ring is a disability.

I mean fired him in relation to Star Wars.

I agree in feeling sorry for the actors and Trank himself if he is a self destructive person.

Exactly! Fox should just cut their losses but its far too late now...

I blamed Kinberg over Trank. It seems Kinberg is the one that has had to clean up for Trank and put a stop to him working on Star Wars. I now feel like a complete idiot for putting any of this on him. On the bright side, I can go back to adoring him.

Ah, that makes sense.
