There is no theoretical about it. The popularity of superhero movies will die down eventually. The question is when, and who will take the biggest loss.

Just like the horror movie genre died out, like the comedy genre died out, space genre...........

Superhero movies, if done right, can go on for a long time. The problem is you have films like this one and watered down versions that no one is really asking for which makes it seems like it's over kill.

When times get tough the focus tends to narrow onto the biggest characters. For example, when the 60s spy genre fad started to die off James Bond stuck around because he was the biggest and most popular character who in many ways was above the genre.

In this case the biggest characters are Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and Iron Man. So in the event of a downturn in CBMs, the biggest loser is very likely going to be whichever studio doesn't have the rights to one of those four characters.

I think the decline of the genre is an inevitability - studios can't churn out superhero movies at the rate they are now for forever, but we can prolong this golden age if we don't turn out any lemons. This FFINO film seems to be a threat to that.

Just like Judgment Day.

Hard to tell it's getting closer, with the just shy of absolute zero marketing we're seeing.

Saw better marketing for Deadpool before that even started filming than we did the entire of Fant4stic's post production.

It will decline. But it isn't going to die out. Cinematic superhero films have been an ongoing thing since the late 70s.

Agreed. I just hope the chaff doesn't make things tougher for the wheat.

Hey remember when someone here mentioned that Cracked podcast, and someone on that podcast mentioning two movies, from fairly newcomer directors? One movie that would be HUGE and kickstart the director's career and the other crashing and burning and the last time that director will work in hollywood? Remember how it was basically between Jurassic World and Fant4stic?

Lol.

Do any of the "negative" people have any "current" information to add to the discussion? Everything I have seen is more than positive - based upon recent screenings. Just wondering if any of the naysayers have actually been to a screening. No judgement, just wondering. Thx.

Not sure if you are delusional or trolling but............you and the jokes! :drl:

Oh I mean no offense. Everything is cool. I'm just saying that every website that I've been to, they've all had overwhelmingly negative comments.

Which websites? Have they been to screenings. I have seen 3 screening reviews and all are ridiculously positive. Plus Gabriel Gray is touting it.

Since they're still working on the music, anybody who has seen anything likely works for Fox. It's a little difficult to get an objective opinion from someone on Fox's payroll.

That account is locked for non-followers I think. But he did mention positive things about it a few days back.

And I see that he is still talking about it. Nice.

His tweets are protected - Doesn't seem public? Do you work for Fox? Is that how you're getting this info?

Nope, followers can read his post. He used to be public and he protected his tweet once he reached around 1.4K followers. I can read all his posts. He doesn't like heavy exposure. LOL

thats the same guy who leaked some very vague stuff about the next trailer. he mentioned the thing in action, doom in action, etc. i also don't think he works for fox because he always drops things about films from a lot of different studios.
