LOL. Indeed. I guess we'll see what happens (and I don't really care one way or the other) but my money is on it ain't happening without a new deal. I wouldn't be surprised if behind-the-scenes negotiations have been attempted on all of this. Perhaps it's still happening. Or perhaps talks have broken down completely. What happened to that X-Factor TV show that was supposedly a done deal?

My guess is that talks are on hold until FFINO hits theaters (and according to the Long Range Forecast on Boxoffice.com, flops). Ike is flexing his muscles with licensing in the interim, letting Gary Newman know that he is willing to follow a scorched earth policy regarding licensed properties unless he gets a deal to his liking.

I still think Marvel signs off on the X Men TV show and FOX releases the FF. We should know more this fall.

If Dr. Doom bears no resemblance to comic Doom, I say Marvel should push for his rights back, as it's pretty clear that Fox is completely embarrassed by the character. So much so that his name in this film is Domashev.

I don't see that happening at all now. Marvel wanted Galactus and Silver Surfer for Guardians of the Galaxy and Infinity Wars. It's kind of to late for that now. I can see Marvel/Disney waiting this one out with so many of their movies already in the process of being made. Fox has more to lose than Marvel/Disney at this point when it comes to their universes. I can see Marvel allowing an Xmen show but no way would they allow that crossover to happen with how Fox treated them.

I don't think that FOX has enough juice to get that deal made. Marvel has proven they dont need any FOX characters to thrive on TV and film. FOX, however, is under time constraints - they need Marvel's sign off within the next few months to put their TV show into production. Ike can (and should) nix any deal until the full FF rights are returned.

In 2012 Marvel asked for the Surfer and Galactus in exchange for a few months extension of the existing Daredevil contract. If a deal is reached on TV rights the price will be much higher.

Despite all of this there's been endless debate whether or not Fox even has the license to do a crossover between the characters. There are legalities involved here I find most fans don't even consider and it's a question that has a lot of merit especially in light of the constant backpedaling by Fox on this very topic.

There's a financial thing that certain people never seem to want to acknowledge as well. Fox has to pay Marvel a larger cut on Fantastic Four than they do on X-Men. There's no reasonable way that a crossover could include Fantastic Four characters and not come at the higher Fantastic Four price. It makes no sense to do, say, an Onslaught movie with X-Men and FF when an Onslaught movie with X-Men and New Mutants would likely make as much money and cost less in licensing fees.

I might have been comforted by a deal like that before FFINO. But now I just want the characters to come home. Period. I don't know who these posers are in this film.

The only way the comic book movie "bubble" bursts is if the entire film industry collapses. Technically, a comic book adaptation is just an adaptation of sequential art. It's adapting a story that happens to have originally been presented as a story done with panels of artwork. There has never been a novel "bubble" that burst, so adaptations of stories presented with drawn art are probably fine. Could the superhero boom theoretically die down? Sure. As Marvel holds the rights to a variety of properties in the Western, sci-fi, horror, romance, crime drama, martial arts, comedy, etc. genres, they'll survive.

I do question Disney's marketing outside of super hero movies though. This is the second time in 5 years that they have made a family marketed movie in John Carter and Tomorrowland and no one had a clue what those films were about so they suffered in theaters.

The marketing for this has been absolutely horrible imo, there's zero fun or energy with the characters and the lack of personalities has me very worried they are gonna under use this awesome cast. How are they not showing anything cool or new with Johnny or his powers? I was hoping they would actually come up with something exciting and new, since we have seen way too many fire powered characters nowadays. The ROTSS teaser kicked the **** out of anything they are doing here.

The potential of the cast is the only thing getting me to the theatre at this point so I really hope they show something cool. Everything just looks and sounds so boring outside of loud sound effects. It's literally the same exact regurgitated shots with different impact beats on sfx.

...and where the **** is Doom? Dudes easily in the top 3 greatest Marvel villains. How are they not pushing Kebbell as this guy? He is brilliant! There should be Doom posters everywhere.

There is no theoretical about it. The popularity of superhero movies will die down eventually. The question is when, and who will take the biggest loss.

If the industry as a whole is smart enough to keep things revolving with new IP's and characters along with solid flicks then that won't be a problem.

If they keep spitting out the same stuff at rapid fire with sub par quality then the comic movie madness will start taking a strong hit. Films like Deadpool, Black Panther, Suicide Squad and Doctor Strange should breathe enough fresh air to keep things going strong. Granted they are good.
