Nice

actually yeah, that's the only MCU film i'd consider as such.. maybe a little bit of IM3 has elements of being that as well.. they just arn't dark really.. but very gritty and more grounded than the rest of the films.

And do you consider this a bad thing?
For I'm hearing those two words thrown around alot with cbms in the negative constantly...
Like here for example.
Grounded and teh Gritty.

I think the term 'grounded and gritty' could be applied to a number of films - particularly comparatively. "Compared to other Marvel films, The Winter Soldier is more grounded and gritty."

But if you had to describe TWS in a sentence to try to tell someone what it was, I don't think 'grounded and gritty' would be appropriate. I would say something like: "It has elements of an action spy-thriller - like James Bond."

"Grounded and gritty" aren't just two words of a thousand that can be applied to FF. They are the two words of those thousand that the film-makers have specifically chosen to characterize this film and tell the world what it is.

Are they just mischaracterizing it and trying to use words they think will impress people?

Very possibly.

But I don't think it makes sense to throw away the words of those who are making the film and the things we've seen and assume the film will really be what we want it to be as opposed to what it clearly appears to be.

We are probably really going to get exactly what the film-makers and trailers and marketing people have been telling us we're going to get - a grounded and gritty origin story that focuses on the troubles and problems associated with normal people transforming into beings with crazy powers, how they learn to deal with that, and how they come together as a team to fight a colleague gone bad and assert their independence over a military that wants to use them as weapons - as opposed to an epic science-fiction fantasy adventure.

Agree with this. While I would want my Fantastic Four movie to be, well... "Fantastic", I think this will be anything but that.

The "grounded and gritty" take on the FF can really be seen in the Grant Morrison mini - Fantastic Four 1234. It's definitely dark, in both subject matter and artwork thanks to Jae Lee. It's a far cry from wild adventure that the first 200 or so issues of Fantastic Four. The Ultimate FF certainly leans towards Morrison's take, though not ever reaching the total darkness of that series -- maybe the Marvel Zombies did.

My store has the 2 litre Crush bottles with each of The Four.

I didn't check the 2 liter bottles. I like a fizz that shoots up my nose and makes me cough and two-liter bottles lose that by the end so I pay more for the cans and the guaranteed aggressive fizz for each glass-full.

I probably should seek counseling.

....another site has a full body promo sculpt of the Thing (I suppose as displayed in theaters)....totally naked and looking totally STUPID af.

BRODIE: The Thing! Is his dork made out of orange rock like the rest of his body?

....guess he finally got his answer.

seriously, google 'first full body pic of the Thing' - it looks so bad

I do when it pertains to certain properties...

The Fantastic Four is typically one of the more light-hearted properties... where at it's darkest should maybe be at Avengers and Avengers: AOU levels.. which i wouldn't consider those films remotely "grounded and gritty".

Similarly i feel the same way about Spider-Man, Runaways, Young Avengers, Power Pack, New Warriors, etc... there can be moments that can be a bit more "grounded and gritty" but i wouldn't want those films to be solely labeled as such because it's not a proper representation of those characters.

it's the equivalent of making a "light hearted fantasy" take on The Punisher, Daredevil, or Blade... i don't want that, it doesn't suit them

They aren't mine, I found this on my dash on tumblr.

Kelly, you might be right regarding no new trailer.

I have given up hope we will get more footage.

Saw an Ant-Man tv spot Monday. And that comes out only half a month earlier than Fant4stic.

If they just rehash the same footage from the teaser and trailer for the tv spots, I'll honestly be blown away.

Oh my god that's funny.

There are like 5 Denny's in the entire state of Tennessee. Maybe less.

Wow. I know a couple near me closed down a few years ago and your comment made me curious so I just did a search. It looks like there are only 9 left in NJ. They used to be everywhere, but it looks like they've had some hard times.
