Anyone else notice that they haven't used Tobey Kebbell/Domashev in any of the promotion?

We haven't gotten a clear look at any stage of the character.

What Thing picture is everyone talking about?

Its on teh site that can not be mentioned, and doesn't seemed to have been posted anywhere else yet so we can't link to it.

Yeah I think it's just bent inward toward the palm on the left hand.

Yeah, if they were to have moved to a three fingered Thing then it would mean that they had all of the existing Thing CG redone since he has four fingers in all of the previous shots of him. And I can't see the studio being willing to pay for that much CG being remade over a finger.

Interesting that again all the early advertising seems to be in central and southern America.

i honestly can't tell from that pic, he could have a pinky finger

That photo shoot video makes no sense. It's like Fox is just trolling us all with how bad this thing will be.

It's so hilarious with the dramatic music and all that.

I got all the look I personally needed of Domashev in those leaked green screen photos and the trailer where he looked exactly the same.

But it's definitely fascinating/a bad sign that we haven't seen Kebbell AT ALL since freaking November in what little marketing this movie has. He's playing the main villain of the movie and he fell off the earth immediately after he spilled the beans.

And then after that we haven't seen or heard anything new about Domashev. Nothing at all. Main villain of the movie, didn't get a character poster, any promo photos, nothing at all.

That doesn't bode well.

Kinda wish they had. Pump up that budget.

It's consistent with the marketing strategy so far of avoiding showing or talking too much about the actual movie.

I'm almost speechless after watching that video. However, I will say that it ceases to amaze me how Miles Teller looks like a world class *****ebag whenever his picture is taken.

That is a bad 3D representation of a so-so digital creation. The texture looks too soft compared to the jagged edges of his rocks in the trailer and posters. Plus the feet look like little more than stumps that are too small to keep him from falling forward.

I suspect those feet might not be too far off. Do you remember the production art that showed us a naked, five-fingered, toeless thing with body shape and other features similar to the film design?

Can you post an image of that concept art? I don't remember seeing one.

Unfortunately it got taken down and I never saved a copy. If someone still has a copy maybe they can post it.

Ow. The footage of Thing from the trailers was better than that bust. Once again, Fox's Marketing department proves to be a headless chicken. Remember how much promo there was for Spy and DOFP from marketing? Yeah, not much. Fox's corporate policy is to get the people involved to want to talk about it. They believe in slashing marketing costs by using Twitter and talk shows by the cast and crew. Except Trank hates the media, treated the cast like crap to the point where they don't want to discuss the project and locked all the producers except for Kinberg out of the editing room to the point where when they finally saw the footage, they demanded extensive reshoots. Hate on the bust all you want but that doesn't get past the fact that Josh Trank is a poor fit for Fox's corporate culture.

And what is up with that photo shoot? That has nothing to do with the film. It isn't related to anything. Why is Fox doing that instead of a press tour?

The final version appears to split the difference between the concept art and the comic-book Thing.

The concept art had a greenish tinge, oversized forearms, irregular, jagged 'rocks', five fingers, no real toes at the end of blocky feet, no brow, and it was naked.

They clearly used many design cues from that (bad) concept art.

^^Thanks.

Movie promotional character models are always worse than the actual thing. No surprise there.

Even the massive Optimus Prime model in Hong Kong for AoE promotion looked bad.

That sculpture of Benji may be part of the Denny's promotion. I always end up with something that looks like that after eating their food.

What language is that in the banner behind the model? Clearly it is from a foreign country.
