Metaphorically, Fox married FF, simply to prevent their rival from being able to.
That's why they have this odd resentment for the property---it like a dude married to a woman he doesn't like but won't let her go because he'd be embarrassed to see his rival do right by her.
Maybe after he's beaten her down enough and thinks now no-one will like her-- he finally lets her go.

Who's to say MCU won't find a way to get FF back and keep the same actors, unless it goes in the TASM direction where no one wants anything to do with it and start anew.

is this legit? are you really saying this after this train-wreck embarrassment? why would any reboot want to associate themselves with this film visually in any way..... talk about instant death.

Garfield and Stone were actually the shining stars of the Amazing franchise.. if Marvel demanded a recast of them, there's no way they'd keep this cast anyway.

Maybe if Gwen were still alive they would have kept them :cwink:

But, no, seriously, I agree with you. F4 is way worse than ASM, at least it took 2 of those movies to destroy a franchise and they both got better reviews and earned more money, but regardless, IF Marvel were to get F4 back anytime soon they would put time and distance between them and this horrible embarrassment to the CBM genre.

Star Trek would be a good way to go.

Reed should be a mixture of Kirk and Spock. The intelligence and logic of Spock but the gung-ho leader like Kirk who isn't afraid to get physical against his enemies. Maybe throw in some Captain Picard in there.

And Ben would be more like McCoy - more cantankerous and grouchy, but still has a sense of humour.

And Johnny would be like Chekov - youthful and brash.

Ben and Johnny's interactions would be somewhat similar to Spock and McCoy's bickering.

Sue would be... a cross between Uhura, I guess, and Alice Eve's Carol Marcus.

And Khan would be a decent model for Doom: arrogant, self-important, has a superiority complex, brilliant minded etc. But obviously it wouldn't be the only basis for him.

i still say Doctor Who meets lost in space... Reed is basically an almagnum of many of the doctors, with a dash of Miss Frizzle (from the magic school bus) and Sherlock Holmes's demeanor

its nice to see all the defenders of this piece of crap have now jumped on the trank's got a hidden gem we'll never see and its all the studios fault bandwagon

This is why the X-Forums are best avoided.

ive never seen any group of people defend stuff so hard in my life... and take it all so personal. It's like.. jesus.. just because i don't like the way apocalypse looks does it mean i wont see this film or hate this film and want it to fail... there's a lot i'm liking about the new film, but i'll still call out the stuff i don't like..

I think Star Trek is a good idea.

I wouldn't base Sue on Uhura or Carol. I would base her off someone with more personality. That's a big thing from all the FF films have been how bland Sue has been.

If F4 goes back to Marvel how long before Marvel includes them on the big screen? If ever.

I doubt we will see them until phase 4, and i wouldn't be shocked if they appear in other films first, before a solo, just to test the waters. Much like how Marvel used the hulk to piggy back off of the avengers, and how they're using Civil War to introduce spider-man

I honestly don't think the rights will revert back to Marvel as soon as we think. Though we never thought Spider-Man could go back to Marvel so anything's possible. Could they stick them in an X-Men movie down the line? But then wouldn't they be a new cast? You sure as hell wouldn't feature the cast of an absolute disaster in an X-Men film and expect people to remember them to be excited about that. And if it's a new cast and it does well. What then? Is it still worth making a solo film? It doesn't really prove much. If Hulk was a standout in Avengers, why hasn't he gotten another shot at a standalone film then?

If it's absolutely hopeless and Fox has no solutions, then they will be let go. Or Fox will finally play ball with Marvel which is also doubtful and they'll all be sharing. It's really their best bet to insure longevity for the X-Men franchise which is a nice bonus. But they've been living on the profits from X-Men and maybe now they can take more risks with original ideas now that there's a hole to be filled.

the rights won't "revert"

they will either be given, traded, or sold

You're right, I wasn't thinking when I wrote that. I meant given. But I don't think Fox will go quietly with that because these two companies hate each other. But at the end of the day, money talks and Fox will do whatever they can to ensure financial success. Whether FF is included in those plans, we don't really know yet. But right now it's not looking good of course.

I've still seen some defenders defending the version we got , and claiming that fandom and the critics are unfairly blighting this film.

That seems to be Harry Knowles' position.

While I don't know that I'd want to see a Director's Cut (the studio would just get involved in that, too), I think it's becoming clear that there's a lot that didn't make it into the film.

yeah...Fox is going to sit on the rights for as long as they can. Even if it means creating a crappy sequel...

though I hope they sell to marvel to make up the loss.

I don't think FOX is going to just "sit on the rights" this time... I think they just want something for them at this point

I kinda liked this movie. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be judging by the reviews. The first half was solid. The second half was hit and miss. My goodness they really messed Dr. Doom up this time!

It's really depressing that the movie had the Fantasticar removed. Why would you do this FOX?!:cmad:

It's the grounded, gritty Fantasticar! :o
[BLACKOUT]I think that actually is supposed to be the Fantasticar. It was rumored to be in the film ages ago.[/BLACKOUT]

Whoa! A beater with its hood popped! The Fantasticar! :ff:

Max Landis (writer of Chronicle) just posted the first 4 pages of a Fantastic Four script he wrote.
It's on his Twitter, but I cant link because it has cursing in it

I did chuckle quite a bit. Tone wise it seems really good for FF. I'd be very interested in reading the rest of it.

Max Landis and his nuggets of wisdom
The general rule seems to be, "If something seems like a massive **** up due to incompetence on multiple fronts, it is."
